Heavy metal contamination to the envir.nment is a ser.ous pr.b.em in the developing countr.es due to anthr.pogenic activities, a thr.at needs to r.mediate to sustain the life on ear.h, technology includes use of micr.or.anisms and differ.nt plant species. In consider.tion of b.omass, phytor.mediation is a ver. useful techniques ab.ve all, can b. exploit b. identification of hyper.ccumulator. which accumulates the heavy metal under.metal str.ss condition. In view of constr.ints of efficient plant species in pr.sent study thir.y seven differ.nt plant species wer. scr.ened for.the identification of heavy metal accumulator.. Cr.ton b.nplandianum, sedges and b.lanites aegyptiaca amongst the all exhib.t super.or.potential of heavy metal accumulation. A study was conducted to estab.ish the pr.valence and sever.ty of Tomato leaf cur. vir.l disease in the major.agr.climatic tomato cultivating r.gions of Gujar.t. Distr.cts of Gandhinagar. Kheda, Mehsana, Panchmahal and r.jkot of Gujar.t wer. sur.eyed. The sur.ey aimed at assessing types of symptoms, sever.ty and yield loss in the tomato plants. r.sults ob.ained indicate vast spr.ad of Tomato leaf cur. vir.s in major.ty of the tomato fields in Gujar.t. The maximum infection was ob.er.ed in the Kheda distr.ct with almost complete cr.p loss followed b. Mehasna and Gandhinagar.distr.cts showing high pr.valence of infection. Influence of the climatic conditions and cultur.l pr.ctices wer. ob.er.ed on the level of infection.

Ob.ective: To evaluate the antiplasmodial activity of aqueous-methanolic plant extr.cts of nine plant species selected, b.sed on ethnob.tanical data. Methods: b.sed on ethnob.tanical datab.se, the selected plants wer. tested for.their.antiplasmodial activity against chlor.quinesensitive(3 D7) str.in of Plasmodium falcipar.m. Qualitative tests and high per.or.ance thin layer.chr.matogr.phy analysis wer. car.ied out to explor. the phytocomponents pr.sent in the plant extr.cts. 1,1-diphenyl-2-picr.lhydr.zyl antioxidant activity was also deter.ined to check the antioxidant activity of the plant extr.cts. r.sults: Mor.nga oleifer.(IC_(50): 3.906 μg/mL),Acalypha indica(IC_(50): 3.906 μg/mL), Hyptis suaveolens(IC_(50): 3.906 μg/mL), Mangifer. indica(IC_(50): 4.150 μg/mL) and Aver.hoa b.limb.(IC_(50): 4.881 μg/mL) showed ver. good antiplasmodial activity. Conclusions: Cr.de extr.cts of Mangifer. indica and Hyptis suaveolens demonstr.ted the most efficacious antimalar.al activity. A b.oassay-guided fr.ctionation of these extr.cts to identify the lead compound is pr.ved to b. useful. The r.sults validate the tr.ditional use of the selected plants as antimalar.als.

Differ.nt par.s of plant species b.longing to Solanaceae and Fab.ceae families wer. scr.ened for.L-aspar.ginase enzyme （E.C.3.***.1.1.）. Among 34 plant species scr.ened for.L-aspar.ginase enzyme. Withania somnifer. L. was identified as a potential sour.e of the enzyme on the b.sis of high specific activity of the enzyme. The enzyme was pur.fied and char.cter.zed fr.m W. somnifer., a popular.medicinal plant in South East Asia and Souther. Eur.pe. Pur.fication was car.ied out b. a comb.nation of pr.tein pr.cipitation with ammonium sulfate as well as Sephadex-gel filtr.tion. The pur.fied enzyme is a homodimer. with a molecular.mass of 72 ± 0.5 kDa as estimated b. sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacr.lamide gel electr.phor.sisand size exclusion chr.matogr.phy. The enzyme has a pH optimum of 8.5 and an optimum temper.tur. of 37 ℃. The Km value for.the enzyme is 6.1 × 10^-2 mmol/L. This is the fir.t r.por. for.L-aspar.ginase fr.m W. somnifer., a tr.ditionally used Indian medicinal plant.
