Satellite remote sensing reveals overwhelming recovery of forest from disturbances in Asia

Forest ecosystems play key roles in mitigating human-induced climate change through enhanced carbon uptake;however,frequently occurring climate extremes and human activities have considerably threatened the stability of *** the same time,detailed accounts of disturbances and forest responses are not yet well quantified in *** study employed the Breaks For Additive Seasonal and Trend method-an abrupt-change detection method-to analyze the Enhanced Vegetation Index time series in East Asia,South Asia,and Southeast *** approach allowed us to detect forest disturbance and quantify the resilience after *** showed that 20%of forests experienced disturbance with an increasing trend from 2000 to 2022,and Southeast Asian countries were more severely affected by ***,95%of forests had robust resilience and could recover from disturbance within a few *** resilience of forests suffering from greater magnitude of disturbance tended to be stronger than forests with lower disturbance *** summary,this study investigated the resilience of forests across the low and middle latitudes of Asia over the past two *** authors found that most forests exhibited good resilience after disturbance and about two-thirds had recovered to a better state in *** findings of this study underscore the complex relationship between disturbance and resilience,contributing to comprehension of forest resilience through satellite remote sensing.

Aqueous zinc-ion batteries(ZIBs)are deemed as the idea option for large-scale energy storage systems owing to many alluring merits including low manufacture cost,environmental friendliness,and high operations ***,to develop high-performance cathode is still significant for practical application of ***,Ba_(0.23)V_(2)O_(5)·1.1H_(2)O(BaVO)nanobelts were fabricated as cathode materials of ZIBs by a typical hydrothermal synthesis *** from the increased interlayer distance of 1.31 nm by Ba2+ and H2O pre-intercalated,the obtained BaVO nanobelts showed an excellent initial discharge capacity of 378 mAh·g^(-1) at 0.1 A·g^(-1),a great rate performance(e.g.,172 mAh·g^(-1) at 5 A·g^(-1)),and a superior capacity retention(93% after 2000 cycles at 5 A·g^(-1)).

Effect of Bacillus thuringiensis on Habrobracon hebetor during combined biological control of Plodia interpunctella

The suitability of combining microbial pesticides and an insect parasitoid for pest management of stored cereal in China was evaluated using laboratory assays. For this purpose, interactions between Bacillus thuringiensis （Bt）, Bt-intoxicated host larvae and the parasitoid Habrobracon hebetor （Say）（Hymenoptera： Braconidae） were tested against Plodia interpunctella Hubner （Lepidoptera： Pyralidae）. Bt or H. hebetor alone caused 41.67% and 35.35% P interpunctella larval mortality respectively. The Bt- parasitoid combined treatment significantly increased mortality ofP interpunctella （86%）. Progeny development of H. hebetor was dependent upon its susceptibility to Bt. Fewer parasitoids emerged from Bt-parasitoid combined treatment than in non-Bt treatments. However, since Bt did not prevent parasitoid development, a combined treatment with Bt and parasitoid release could produce better protection against P. interpunctella than either treatments when used singly, because their lethal effects were additive to each other.

Superhydrophobic and corrosion-resistant siloxane-modified MgAl-LDHs coatings on magnesium alloy prepared under mild conditions

We have developed a superhydrophobic and corrosion-resistant LDH-W/PFDTMS composite coating on the surface of Mg *** composite comprised a tungstate-intercalated(LDH-W)underlayer that was grown at low temperature(relative to hydrothermal reaction conditions)under atmospheric pressure and an outer polysiloxane layer created from a solution containing perfluorodecyltrimethoxysilane(PFDTMS)using a simple immersion *** successful intercalation of tungstate into the LDH phase and the following formation of the polysiloxane layer were confirmed through X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transform infrared(FTIR)spectroscopy,and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS).The corrosion resistance of the LDH-W film,both before and after the PFDTMS modification,was evaluated using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS),Tafel curves,and immersion *** results showed that Mg coated with LDH-W/PFDTMS exhibited significantly enhanced corrosion protection compared to the unmodified LDHW film,with no apparent signs of corrosion after exposure to 3.5wt%NaCl solution for 15 ***,the LDH-W/PFDTMS coating demonstrated superior superhydrophobicity and self-cleaning properties against water and several common beverages,as confirmed by static contact angle and water-repellency *** results offer valuable insights into preparing superhydrophobic and corrosion-resistant LDH-based composite coatings on Mg alloy surfaces under relatively mild reaction conditions.

Investigations on the degradation of aspartame using high-performance liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry

Aspartame is a widely used sweetener, the long-term safety of which has been controversial ever since it was accepted for human consumption. It is unstable and can produce some harmful degradation products under certain storage conditions. A high-performance liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry method was developed for the simultaneous analysis of aspartame and its four degradation products, including aspartic acid, phenylalanine, aspartyl-phenylalanine and 5-benzyl-3,6- dioxo-2-piperazieacetic acid in water and in diet soft drinks. Aspartame and its four degradation products were quantified by a matrix matched external standard calibration curve with excellent correlation coefficients. The limits of detection were 0.16-5.8 μg/L, which exhibited higher sensitivity than common methods. This method was rapid, sensitive, specific and capable of eliminating matrix interferences. It was also applied to the study of the degradation of aspartame at various pH and temperatures. The results indicated that aspartame was partly degraded under strong acidic or basic conditions and the extent of degradation increased with increasing temperature.

Prediction and optimization of flue pressure in sintering process based on SHAP

Sinter is the core raw material for blast *** pressure,which is an important state parameter,affects sinter *** this paper,flue pressure prediction and optimization were studied based on the shapley additive explanation(SHAP)to predict the flue pressure and take targeted adjustment ***,the sintering process data were collected and processed.A flue pressure prediction model was then constructed after comparing different feature selection methods and model algorithms using SHAP+extremely random-ized trees(ET).The prediction accuracy of the model within the error range of±0.25 kPa was 92.63%.SHAP analysis was employed to improve the interpretability of the prediction *** effects of various sintering operation parameters on flue pressure,the relation-ship between the numerical range of key operation parameters and flue pressure,the effect of operation parameter combinations on flue pressure,and the prediction process of the flue pressure prediction model on a single sample were analyzed.A flue pressure optimization module was also constructed and analyzed when the prediction satisfied the judgment *** operating parameter combination was then *** flue pressure was increased by 5.87%during the verification process,achieving a good optimization effect.

Chitosan-based carbon dots with multi-color-emissive tunable fluorescence and visible light catalytic enhancement properties

Carbon quantum dots(CQDs)are receiving increasing attention for their excellent photostability,low toxicity,and tunable fluorescence performance,but it is still challenging to prepare full-spectrum CQDs using only one single set of precursor and *** this study,P and N co-doped carbon dots(N,PR-CQDs)with multi-color-emissive tunable fluorescence from blue to green and orange were synthesized from bio-based chitosan,employing phosphoric acid as solvent and *** introduction of phosphoric acid successfully shortens the manufacturing reaction time,and the heteratomic functional groups of P–O/P=O on surface of carbon dots enrich the surface defect states,promoting n–π*transition,and therefore changing their electron structure/energy level to reduce the band gap,thus facilitating emission at long ***,increasing phosphoric acid concentration leads to characteristic excitation peaks red shift from 320 to 420 nm with the characteristic emission peaks red shift from 406 to 503 nm.A new emission peak at 610 nm appears,enabling N,PR-CQDs exhibit double emission peaks with fluorescence color from green to yellow to *** compositing with carbon nitride(g-C3N4),N,PR-CQDs work as photosensitizer and effectively narrow the energy gap(Eg)of g-C3N4 from 2.75 to 2.40 eV,endowing the photocatalyst higher visible light capture ability and broader light response *** photocatalytic degradation rate of rhodamine B(RhB)under visible light irradiation reaches up to 98.39%within 60 min using N,P20%-CQDs/g-C3N4 as catalyst,which is 1.4 times that of pure g-C3N4,and it is demonstrated that·O2−is the major active substance contributing for RhB degradation by de-ethyl and aromatic ring breakage.

Photoactive complexes of nonprecious transition metals, mainly including those in the first-row and partially the second-row of the Periodic table of elements, have received increasing attention in view of their low cost and long-term sustainability. They are recognized as promising alternatives to noble transition metal complex congeners that have been extensively studied in optoelectronic devices, artificial photosynthesis, photocatalysis, biodiagnostics, and therapeutics, etc. This review is devoted to a comprehensive summary on the classical and recent advances on photoactive nonprecious transition metal complexes, including photoactive Zr, V, Cr, Mo, and W complexes, Mn complexes and hybrids, Fe, Co, Ni, and Cu complexes, and Zn and Cd complexes and hybrids. A particular focus is given on the molecular design, modulation of photophysical and photochemical properties, and applications of the representative and lately-developed nonprecious metal complexes. In addition, a perspective on the future development in this field is provided at the end of this review.
