A chemometric analysis on the fluorescent dissolved organic matter in a full-scale sequencing batch reactor for municipal wastewater treatment

Rapid monitoring of water quality is crucial to the operation of municipal wastewater treatment plants （WWTPs）. Fluorescence excitation-emission matrix （EEM） in combination with parallel lhctor analysis （PARAFAC） has been used as a powerful tool for the characterization of dissolved organic matter （DOM） in WWTPs. However, a recent work has revealed the drawback of PARAFAC analysis, i.e., overestimating the component number. A novel method, parallel lhctor framework-clustering analysis （PFFCA）,＂has been cleveloped in our earlier work to resolve this drawback of PARAFAC. In the present work, both PARAFAC and PFFCA were used to analyze the EEMs of water samples from a full-scale WWTP from a practical application point of view. The component number and goodness-of- fit from these two methods were compared and the relationship between the relative score change of component and the actual concentration was investigated to evaluate the estimation error introduced by 9 both methods. PFFCA score and actual concentration exhibited a higher correlation coefficient （R- = 0.870） compared with PARAFAC （R2〈 0.771）, indicating that PFFCA provided a more accurate relative change estimation than PARAFAC. The results suggest that use of PARAFAC may cause confusion in selecting the component number, while EEM-PFFCA is a more reliable alternative approach for monitoring water quality in WWTPs.

Modified artificial neural network model with an explicit expression to describe flow behavior and processing maps of Ti2AlNb-based superalloy

The elevated-temperature deformation behavior of Ti2AlNb superalloy was observed by isothermal compression experiments in a wide range of temperatures(950–1200°C)and strain rates(0.001–10 s^(-1)).The flow behavior is nonlinear,strongly coupled,and *** constitutive models,namely the double multivariate nonlinear regression model,artificial neural network model,and modified artificial neural network model with an explicit expression,were applied to describe the Ti2AlNb superalloy plastic deformation *** comparative predictability of those constitutive models was further evaluated by considering the correlation coefficient and average absolute relative *** comparative results show that the modified artificial network model can describe the flow stress of Ti2AlNb superalloy more accurately than the other developed constitutive *** explicit expression obtained from the modified artificial neural network model can be directly used for finite element *** modified artificial neural network model solves the problems that the double multivariate nonlinear regression model cannot describe the nonlinear,strongly coupled,and multivariable flow behavior of Ti2AlNb superalloy accurately,and the artificial neural network model cannot be embedded into the finite element software ***,the modified artificial neural network model is mainly dependent on the quantity of high-quality experimental data and characteristic variables,and the modified artificial neural network model has not physical ***,the processing maps were applied to obtain the optimum processing parameters.

Multi-parametric Sensitivity Analysis of Improved Transformer Thermal Models Considering Nonlinear Effect of Oil Time Constant

This paper aims to develop an approach to investigating the effect of a particular parameter on the output accuracy of transformer thermal models,*** analysis,which can not only reveal the most sensitive parameter of a thermal model but also improve model output *** the first time,the nonlinear time constant(NTC)of transformer oil is proposed to reshape three practical top-oil temperature models based on an expression of nonlinear thermal conductance:the modified IEEE clause 7 model,Swift’s model,and Susa’s ***,the multi-parametric sensitivity analysis(MPSA)is undertaken to reveal the effect of each parameter on the model output *** onsite data validation,the results show that the accuracy performance of the proposed NTC thermal models are improved significantly by considering the nonlinear effect of oil time ***,the derived sensitivity performances can clearly reveal the most dominant parameter of the model,so as to simplify the model parameter identification process by reducing the number of insensitive ***,the heat-run test data is used as a reference to validate parameters optimized through a genetic algorithm(GA),which demonstrates that the proposed NTC IEEE model has not only one sensitive parameter but also superior accuracy performance.

Regularity of Global Attractor for Atmospheric Circulation Equations with Humidity Effect

In this article, regularity of the global attractor for atmospheric circulation equations with humidity effect is considered. It is proved that atmospheric circulation equations with humidity effect possess a global attractor in H^k(?, R^4) for any k≥0, which attracts any bounded set of H^k(Ω, R^4) in the H^k-norm. The result is established by means of an iteration technique and regularity estimates for the linear semigroup of operator, together with a classical existence theorem of global attractor.

A self-healing liquid metal anode for lithium-ion batteries

The gallium-based liquid metal as one of the self-healing materials has gained wide attention, especially in the energy storage system. However, volume expansion with the ‘‘liquid-solid-liquid”transformation process still leads to un-controlled electrode failure, which stimulates the irreversibility of liquid metal and hinders their self-healing effect as the anode for lithium-ion batteries. Herein, the polypyrrole(PPy) with highly conductive and adhesive features is first introduced to fasten the liquid metal nanoparticles(gallium-tin alloy, EGaSn) in the integrated electrode and applied as the anode for lithium-ion batteries. A tightly PPy wrapped EGaSn nanoparticles structure is formed during the in-situ polymerization synthesis process, which effectively avoids the detachment of solid alloyed products. Based on the features of PPy, polyacrylic acid is added to facilitate strengthening the integrity of the electrode by constructing the hydrogen bond. The ‘‘dual-insurance” design endows the EGaSn to exhibit superior electrochemical kinetics and an astonishing self-healing effect. As a result, the customized anode displays superior cycling stability(499.8 mAh g^(-1) after 500 cycles at 1.0 A g^(-1))and rate capability(350 mAh g^(-1) at 2.0 A g^(-1)).This work enriches the electrode engineering technology of liquid metal nanoparticles and opens up a new way to customize the self-healing anode for lithium-ion batteries.

TOPK Activation Exerts Protective Effects on Cisplatin-induced Acute Kidney Injury

Objective:T-LAK-cell-originated protein kinase(TOPK),a PSD95-Disc large-ZO1(PDZ)binding kinase(PBK),is a novel member of the mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)*** have shown that TOPK plays a critical role in the function of tumor cells,including apoptosis and ***,little is known on the effect of TOPK in cisplatin-induced acute kidney injury(CP-AKI).This study aimed to investigate the role and mechanism of TOPK in ***:Cisplatin was administered to C57BL/6 mice and cultured kidney tubular epithelial cells(TECs)to establish the CP-AKI murine or cellular *** were then stimulated with the specific inhibitor of TOPK OTS514 or transfected with the recombinant-activated plasmid TOPK-T9E to inhibit or activate *** TECs were treated with AKT inhibitorⅧfollowing stimulation with OTS514 or *** blotting and flow cytometry were used to evaluate the cell cycle and apoptosis of ***:The analysis revealed that the TOPK activity was significantly suppressed by cisplatin,both in vivo and in ***,the pharmacological inhibition of TOPK by OTS514,a specific inhibitor of TOPK,exacerbated the cisplatin-induced cell cycle arrest in the G2/M phase and apoptosis of cultured ***,the TOPK activation via the TOPK-T9E plasmid transfection could partially reverse the cell cycle arrest at the G2/M phase and apoptosis of cisplatin-treated *** addition,AKT/protein kinase B(PKB),as a TOPK target protein,was inhibited by cisplatin in cultured *** pharmaceutical inhibition of AKT further aggravated the apoptosis of TECs induced by cisplatin or TOPK *** systematically mediated the apoptosis via the AKT pathway in the CP-AKI cell ***:These results indicate that TOPK activation protects against CP-AKI by ameliorating the G2/M cell cycle arrest and cell apoptosis.

Extracts of Celastrus Orbiculatus Inhibit Cancer Metastasis by Down-regulating Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition in Hypoxia-Induced Human Hepatocellular Carcinoma Cells

Objective: To evaluate the effects of Celastrus Orbiculatus extracts(COE) on metastasis in hypoxiainduced hepatocellular carcinoma cells(Hep G2) and to explore the underlying molecular mechanisms. Methods:The effect of COE(160, 200 and 240 μg/mL) on cell viability, scratch-wound, invasion and migration were studied by 3-4,5-dimethyl-2-thiazolyl-2,5-diphenyl-2-H-tetrazolium bromide(MTT), scratch-wound and transwell assays, respectively. Co Cl2 was used to establish a hypoxia model in vitro. Effects of COE on the expressions of E-cadherin, vimentin and N-cadherin were investigated with Western blot and immuno?uorescence analysis,respectively. Results: COE inhibited proliferation and metastasis of hypoxia-induced hepatocellular carcinoma cells in a dose-dependent manner(P<0.01). Furthermore, the expression of epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT) related markers were also remarkably suppressed in a dose-dependent manner(P<0.01). In addition, the upstream signaling pathways, including the hypoxia-inducible factor 1α(Hif-1α) and Twist1 were suppressed by COE. Additionally, the Hif-1α inhibitor 3-5'-hydroxymethyl-2'-furyl)-1-benzylindazole(YC-1), potently suppressed cell invasion and migration as well as expression of EMT in hypoxia-induced Hep G2 cells. Similarly, the combined treatment with COE and YC-1 showed a synergistic effect(P<0.01) compared with the treatment with COE or YC-1 alone in hypoxia-induced Hep G2 cells. Conclusions: COE signi?cantly inhibited the tumor metastasis and EMT by suppressing Hif-1α/Twist1 signaling pathway in hypoxia-induced Hep G2 cell. Thus, COE might have potential effect to inhibit the progression of Hep G2 in the context of tumor hypoxia.
