BACKGROUND Pediatric living donor liver transplantation(LDLT) has become the gold standard for patients with end-stage liver disease. With improvements in organ preservation, immunosuppression, and surgical and anesthesia techniques, the survival rates and long-term outcomes of patients after LDLT have significantly improved worldwide. However, data on anesthetic management and postoperative survival rate of pediatric LDLT in China are *** To review the status of pediatric LDLT in Shanghai and investigate the factors related to anesthetic management and survival rate in pediatric *** We conducted a retrospective observational study to investigate the status of pediatric LDLT in Shanghai by reviewing 544 records of patients who underwent pediatric LDLT since the first operation on October 21, 2006 until August 10, 2016 at Renji Hospital and Huashan *** The 30-d, 90-d, 1-year, and 2-year survival rates were 95.22%, 93.38%, 91.36%,and 89.34%, respectively. The 2-year patient survival rate after January 1, 2011 significantly improved compared with the previous period(74.47% vs 90.74%;hazard ratio: 2.92;95% confidence interval(CI): 2.16–14.14;P = 0.0004). Median duration of mechanical ventilation in the intensive care unit(ICU) was 18 h [interquartile range(IQR), 15.25–20.25], median ICU length of stay was 6 d(IQR:4.80–9.00), and median postoperative length of stay was 24 d(IQR: 18.00–34.00).Forty-seven(8.60%) of 544 patients did not receive red blood cell transfusion during the *** Pediatric end-stage liver disease score, anesthesia duration, operation duration,intraoperative blood loss, and ICU length of stay were independent predictive factors of in-hospital patient survival. Pediatric end-stage liver disease score,operation duration, and ICU length of stay were independent predictive factors of 1-year and 3-year patient survival.

Preparation of crystalline rare earth carbonates with large particle size from the lixivium of weathered crust elution-deposited rare earth ores

Crystalline rare-earth(RE)carbonates having large particle size were prepared from the lixivium of weathered crust elution-deposited rare-earth ores using the precipitation method with ammonium bicarbonate as the *** chemical composition was studied using elemental and thermogravimetric analyses(TGA),and their structure and morphology were characterized using Fourier transform infrared(FTIR)spectroscopy,X-ray diffraction(XRD),and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The results demonstrate that the crystalline rareearth carbonate is a hydrated basic carbonate or oxycarbonate and not astable intermediate carbonate in the process of thermal *** particle size of crystalline rare-earth carbonates with large particle size is in the range of 50–200μ*** an RE2O3 content of up to 95wt%,the quality of crystalline rare-earth carbonates is higher compared to the Chinese National Standard(GB/T 28882–2012).The quality of the product is superior to the Chinese National Standard.

Interfacial microstructure of Cu Cr/1Cr18Ni9Ti bi-metal materials and its effect on bonding strength

The Cu Cr/1Cr18Ni9 Ti bi-metal materials were prepared by the solid-liquid bonding method. The microstructures, mechanical properties and formation mechanism of the bonding interface were studied. The results show that there exists a serrated transition layer with a certain width at the interface of Cu Cr/1Cr18Ni9 Ti bi-metal materials, and the transition layer consists of Fe-based and Cu-based solid solutions. The elastic modulus and hardness reach the maximum values at the interface closing to the 1Cr18Ni9 Ti zone. The bonding temperature has a significant effect on the width and morphology of the transition layer. The interfacial bonding strength is at least 30% higher than that of the Cu Cr alloy, and the tensile fracture occurs at the side of the Cu Cr alloy rather than at the bonding interface.

BREAST fibromatosis is a rare kind of lesion. The average incidence is about 2-4 per million every year} So far there have been about 100 cases reported altogether.2 In this report, we describe a case of breast fibromatosis developed after hydrophilic polyacrylamide gel （HPG） injection for breast augmentation. By reviewing the literature, the possible pathogenesis of this case and the proper treatment strategy are investigated.

Volterra filter modeling of a nonlinear discrete-time system based on a ranked differential evolution algorithm

This paper presents a ranked differential evolution(RDE) algorithm for solving the identification problem of nonlinear discrete-time systems based on a Volterra filter model. In the improved method, a scale factor, generated by combining a sine function and randomness, effectively keeps a balance between the global search and the local search. Also, the mutation operation is modified after ranking all candidate solutions of the population to help avoid the occurrence of premature convergence. Finally, two examples including a highly nonlinear discrete-time rational system and a real heat exchanger are used to evaluate the performance of the RDE algorithm and five other approaches. Numerical experiments and comparisons demonstrate that the RDE algorithm performs better than the other approaches in most cases.

The relief of hypoxic microenvironment using an O_(2) self-sufficient fluorinated nanoplatform for enhanced photodynamic eradication of bacterial biofilms
