Impact of Coronary Artery Anatomy in Arterial Switch Operation:In-hospital and Post-discharge Outcomes

Objective The influence of the coronary artery anatomy on the prognosis of patients receiving an arterial switch operation(ASO)is currently controversial,and the risk factors for this operation may change in more complicated *** study aimed to investigate the influence of coronary artery anomalies on the in-hospital and post-discharge outcomes of ASO in patients with transposition of the great arteries(TGA)and Taussig-Bing anomaly(TBA).Methods We retrospectively reviewed 206 patients who underwent ASO from January 2007 to December *** median age at operation was 33[interquartile range(IQR):20–71]*** follow-up time was 7.2 years(IQR:4.0–10.3 years).Results Coronary anomalies were present in 86 patients(41.7%),with 9(4.4%)of them having a single coronary *** coronary features included intramural courses in 5(2.4%)patients,ostial stenosis in 1(0.5%)patient,and accessory coronary artery orifices in 5(2.4%)*** were 32(15.5%)in-hospital deaths and 8(4.6%)post-discharge deaths,yielding an overall survival of 81.3%,80.7%and 79.9%at 1,5 and 10 years,*** due to ASO has been drastically decreased since *** with a single coronary artery had higher rate of in-hospital mortality,but this finding was not statistically *** earlier surgical era(OR:2.756)and a longer cardiopulmonary bypass time(OR:2.336)were significantly associated with in-hospital mortality,while coronary patterns were *** intramural coronary artery(HR:10.034)and a patient age of older than 1 year at the time of ASO(HR:9.706)were independent predictors of post-discharge *** ASO remains the procedure of choice for TGA with coronary anomalies with acceptable in-hospital and post-discharge outcomes in terms of overall survival and freedom of ***,intramural coronary artery is an independent risk factor for post-discharge *** surgery within the 1st year of life helps improve overall m

Emission characteristics of carbon dioxide in the semiarid Stipa grandis steppe in Inner Mongolia, China

Using the static opaque chamber method, the soil respiration rates （SR） were measured through the continuous experiments in situ in semiarid Stipa grandis steppe in Xilin River Basin of Inner Mongolia, China from June 2001 to June 2003, in parallel, the difference between the SR and the ecosystem respiration rates （TER） were compared. The results indicated that the seasonal variations of the SR and TER were obvious with higher emissions in growing season and a relatively low efflux level in non-growing season, furthermore, the negative effluxes were found in the observation site in winter; the annual CO2 efflux of total ecosystem ranged from 160.5 gC/（m^2·a） to 162.8 gC/（m^2·a） and that of soil ranged from 118.7 gC/（m^2·a） to 152.3 gC/（m^2·a）. The annual SR accounted for about 74.0% to 93.5% of the annual TER, but the results of Analysis of Variance （ANOVA） indicated that the difference between the annual average TER and SR did not reach the significance level of 0.05. The TER was under similar environmental controls as SR, in growing seasons of drought years, the variations of soil moisture at 0-10 cm and 10-20 cm depth could account for 79,1% 95.6% of the changes of the SR and TER, but in non-growing season, more than 75% of the variations of the SR and TER could be explained by the changes of the ground temperature of soil surface layers.

Ecological Suitability Assessment and Introduction Experiment on Rosa damascena trigintipetala in Sichuan Province, China

This study comprehensively considered the climate, soil, terrain, and land-use type conditions suitable for Rosa damascena trigintipetala and further established an ecological suitability evaluation model of R. damascena triginffpetala in Sichuan Province, China, based on geographic information systems （GIS） and Agro-Ecological Zone （AEZ） models; then we assessed the different ecological suitability grades for this species in Sichuan Province of China and summarized the suitable land areas and spatial distribution pattern for R. damascena trigintipetala. The results show that the suitable areas （which contain highly suitable, generally suitable, and critically suitable areas） for R. damascena trigintipetala are 307.268×lO4 hm^2, which accounts for 6.34% of the total provincial area. Results also indicate that shrub land and open forest land are the major land-use types suitable for R. damascena trigintipetala, with the suitable areas of 303.162×lO4 hm2 （6.25% of the total provincial area）. An introduction test was conducted in one of the suitable areas, Xichang City, which demonstrated that R. damascena trigintipetala grows well at theexperimental sites. The quality of rose oil extracted from R. damascena trigintipetala planted in Xichang meets the Bulgaria Rose Oil Standard, thus verifying the accuracy and reliability of the ecological suitability assessment results.

A plethora of evidence suggests that protein misfolding and aggregation are underlying mechanisms of various neurodegenerative diseases,such as prion diseases and Alzheimer's disease(AD).like prion diseases,AD has been considered as an infectious disease in the past decades as it shows strain specificity and transmission *** it remains elusive how protein aggregation leads to AD,it is becoming clear that cellular prion protein(PrP^c)plays an important role in AD ***,we briefly reviewed AD pathogenesis and focused on recent progresses how PrP^c contributed to AD *** addition,we proposed a potential mechanism to explain why infectious agents,such as viruses,conduce AD *** infections cause AD deposition and upregulation of PrP^c,which lead to high affinity binding between AD oligomers and PrP^*** interaction between PrP^c and AP oligomers in turn activates the Fyn signaling cascade,resulting in neuron death in the central nervous system(CNS).Thus,silencing PrP^c expression may turn out be an effective treatment for PrP^c dependent AD.

Performance test of a 5 kW solid oxide fuel cell system under high fuel utilization with industrial fuel gas feeding

As the demand for green energy with high efficiency and low carbon dioxide(CO2)emissions has increased,solid oxide fuel cells(SOFCs)have been intensively developed in recent *** gasification fuel cells(IGFCs)in particular show potential for large-scale power generation to further increase system ***,for commercial application of IGFCs,it is important to design reliable multi-stacks for large systems that show long-term stability and practical fuel gas for application to industrial *** this work,a test rig(of a 5 kW SOFC system,with syngas from industrial gasifiers as fuel)was fabricated and subjected to long-term tests under high fuel utilization to investigate its *** maximum steady output power of the system was 5700 W using hydrogen and 5660 W using syngas and the maximum steady electrical efficiency was 61.24%while the fuel utilization efficiency was 89.25%.The test lasted for more than 500 h as the fuel utilization efficiency was larger than 83%.The performances of each stack tower were almost identical at both the initial stage and after long-term *** 500 h operation,the performances of the stack towers decreased only slightly under lower current and showed almost no change under high *** results demonstrate the reliability of the multi-stack design and the prospect of this SOFC power-generation system for further enlarging its application in a MWth demonstration.

Scanning photoacoustic imaging of submucosal gastric tumor based on a long focused transducer in phantom and in vitro experiments

Photoacoustic imaging,which can provide the maximum intensity contrast in tissue depth imaging without ionizing radiation,will be a promising imaging trend for tumor *** this paper,a column diffusionfiber was employed to carry a pulsed laser for irradiating stomach directly through esophagus based on the characteristics of gastric tissue structure.A long focused ultrasonic transducer was placed outside the body to detect photoacoustic signals of gastric *** and in vitro experiments of submucosal gastric tumors were carried out to check the sensitivity of scanning photoacoustic tomography system,including the lateral and longitudinal resolution of the system,sensitivity of different absorption coefficient in imaging,capability of transversal detection,and probability of longitudinal *** results demonstrate that our innovative technique can improve the parameters of *** lateral resolution reaches 2.09 *** a depth of 5.5mm with a longitudinal accuracy of 0.36mm below gastric mucosa of early gastric cancer(EGC)has been *** addition,the optimal absorption coefficient differences among absorbers of system are 3.3-3.9 *** indicate that our photoacoustic imaging(PAI)system,is based on a long focusing transducer,can provide a potential application for detecting submucosal EGC without obvious symptoms.

Curing Behaviors and Thermal Properties of Dimer Fatty Acid （DFA） Modified Multifunctional Epoxy Resin

In order to improve the toughness of the cured aromatic tetrafunctional epoxy resins, a dlmer rarboxylic acid named dlmer fatty acid （DFA） was used to modify an aromatic tetrafunctional epoxy, N, N, N＇, N＇-tetraglycidyl-2,2-bis [ 4-（ 4-aminophcuoxy ） phenyl ] propane （TGBAPP）. The curing behaviors of DFA- TGBAPP/MNA （ methyl nadic anhydride） systems were studied by differential scanning calorimetry （DSC） method. And the thermal properties of the cured epoxy resin were investigated with the thermo-gravimetric analysis （TGA） and dynamic mechanical analysis （DMA）. Besides, the toughness was characterized with the impact strength tested by charpy impact testing. The results indicated that the modification would improve the curing reactions, and the curing temperatures were decreased with the increasing content of DFA. The thermal properties were not influenced obviously, and the toughness could be improved when the epoxy resin was modified with DFA.

Visible light-induced Photoluminescence of a Zinc(Ⅱ) Complex of N-methyl-4,4-bipyridinium Cation

Compounds with visible-light-induced photoluminescence are particularly attractive in acting as the emitting components of light-emitting diodes and fluorescent probes for biological applications. A new complex [Zn(NCS)_3(MQ)](MQ^+ = N-methyl-4,4?-bipyridinium) with an isolated molecular structure has been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy and solid-state photoluminescent determination. Crystal data: C_(14)H_(11)N_5S_3Zn, M_r = 410.83, monoclinic, space group P2_1/c, a = 8.809(5), b = 13.138(7), c = 15.580(9) ?, b = 104.433(10)°, V = 1746.2(17) ?~3, Z = 4, D–c = 1.563 g×cm^3, μ = 1.769 mm^(–1), F(000) = 832, the final R = 0.0376 and wR = 0.1243 for 2850 observed reflections with I > 2s(I). In the crystal structure, the zinc atom is tetrahedrally coordinated by one MQ+ ligand and three NCS– groups to yield a tetrahedral configuration. The bond length of Zn–NMQ is clearly shorter than those found in reported Zn(Ⅱ) complexes of 4,4?-bipy. The isolated units are joined by C–H···S interactions to generate a 2D hydrogen-bonding network. This compound displays visible light-induced photoluminescence, which originates from both intraligand charge-transfer of the MQ+ ligand and NCS~–→MQ^+ charge-transfer according to a density of states(DOS) calculation. Moreover, its emission band shows a clear blue shift compared with those of halide compounds.
