Helicobacter pylori infection alters gastric microbiota structure and biological functions in patients with gastric ulcer or duodenal ulcer

BACKGROUND Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori)infection is closely associated with gastrointestinal diseases.Our preliminary studies have indicated that H.pylori infection had a significant impact on the mucosal microbiome structure in patients with gastric ulcer(GU)or duodenal ulcer(DU).AIM To investigate the contributions of H.pylori infection and the mucosal microbiome to the pathogenesis and progression of ulcerative diseases.METHODS Patients with H.pylori infection and either GU or DU,and healthy individuals without H.pylori infection were included.Gastric or duodenal mucosal samples was obtained and subjected to metagenomic sequencing.The compositions of the microbial communities and their metabolic functions in the mucosal tissues were analyzed.RESULTS Compared with that in the healthy individuals,the gastric mucosal microbiota in the H.pylori-positive patients with GU was dominated by H.pylori,with signi-ficantly reduced biodiversity.The intergroup differential functions,which were enriched in the H.pylori-positive GU patients,were all derived from H.pylori,particularly those concerning transfer RNA queuosine-modification and the synthesis of demethylmenaquinones or menaquinones.A significant enrichment of the uibE gene was detected in the synthesis pathway.There was no significant difference in microbial diversity between the H.pylori-positive DU patients and healthy controls.CONCLUSION H.pylori infection significantly alters the gastric microbiota structure,diversity,and biological functions,which may be important contributing factors for GU.

The clutch size,incubation behavior of Reeves’s Pheasant(Syrmaticus reevesii) and their responses to ambient temperature and precipitation

Weather conditions play a pivotal role in embryo development and parental incubation costs,potentially impacting the clutch size and incubation behavior of birds.Understanding these effects is crucial for bird conservation.Reeves’ s Pheasant(Syrmaticus reevesii) is a threatened species endemic to China,which is characterized by female-only incubation.However,there is a lack of information regarding the impact of weather conditions on clutch size and incubation behavior in this species.Using satellite tracking,we tracked 27 wild female Reeves’ s Pheasants from 2020 to 2023 in Hubei Province,China.We explored their clutch size and incubation behavior,as well as their responses to ambient temperature and precipitation.Clutch size averaged 7.75 ±1.36,had an association with average ambient temperature and average daily precipitation during the egglaying period,and was potentially linked to female breeding attempts.Throughout the incubation period,females took an average of 0.73 ±0.46 recesses every 24 h,with an average recess duration of 100.80 ±73.37 min and an average nest attendance of 92.98 ±5.27%.They showed a unimodal recess pattern in which nest departures peaked primarily between 13:00 and 16:00.Furthermore,females rarely left nests when daily precipitation was high.Recess duration and nest attendance were influenced by the interaction between daily mean ambient temperature and daily precipitation,as well as day of incubation.Additionally,there was a positive correlation between clutch size and recess duration.These results contribute valuable insights into the lifehistory features of this endangered species.

Highly efficient capture of thorium ion by citric acid-modified chitosan gels from aqueous solution

A novel citric acid-modified chitosan gel(CSCA)was synthesized through a simple one-step process and was used to extract thorium ions from wastewater.The CSCA samples with varying chemical compositions were analyzed using SEM with mapping EDS,FT-IR,and static water contact angle measurements,and their adsorption behaviors were studied in detail.The results showed that the adsorption performance of CSCA improves with the increase of CA content in the sample.CSCA possesses an impressive capacity for thorium adsorption of 279.8 mg/g.Furthermore,it showed an ultra-fast adsorption rate and reached equilibrium within 30 min.In terms of recyclability,the CSCA still retained more than 86%of its initial adsorption capacity after 6 cycles of reuse.Density functional theory(DFT)analysis reveals that the good selectivity of this material towards thorium ions should be attributed to the high density of adsorption sites and strong interaction between carboxyl groups and thorium ions.This work could be beneficial in the design and synthesis of new polymer materials for extracting thorium.

Research on simulation of gun muzzle flow field empowered by artificial intelligence

Artificial intelligence technology is introduced into the simulation of muzzle flow field to improve its simulation efficiency in this paper.A data-physical fusion driven framework is proposed.First,the known flow field data is used to initialize the model parameters,so that the parameters to be trained are close to the optimal value.Then physical prior knowledge is introduced into the training process so that the prediction results not only meet the known flow field information but also meet the physical conservation laws.Through two examples,it is proved that the model under the fusion driven framework can solve the strongly nonlinear flow field problems,and has stronger generalization and expansion.The proposed model is used to solve a muzzle flow field,and the safety clearance behind the barrel side is divided.It is pointed out that the shape of the safety clearance under different launch speeds is roughly the same,and the pressure disturbance in the area within 9.2 m behind the muzzle section exceeds the safety threshold,which is a dangerous area.Comparison with the CFD results shows that the calculation efficiency of the proposed model is greatly improved under the condition of the same calculation accuracy.The proposed model can quickly and accurately simulate the muzzle flow field under various launch conditions.

Single-atom Ag-loaded carbon nitride photocatalysts for efficient degradation of acetaminophen:The role of Ag-atom and O_(2)

Carbon nitride has been extensively used as a visible-light photocatalyst,but it has the disadvantages of a low specific surface area,rapid electron-hole recombination,and relatively low light absorbance.In this study,single-atom Ag was successfully anchored on ultrathin carbon nitride(UTCN)via thermal polymerization,the catalyst obtained is called AgUTCN.The Ag hardly changed the carbon nitride's layered and porous physical *** exhibited efficient visible-light photocatalytic performances in the degradation of various recalcitrant pollutants,eliminations of 85% were achieved by visible-light irradiation for 1hr.Doping with Ag improved the photocatalytic performance of UTCN by narrowing the forbidden band gap from 2.49 to 2.36 e V and suppressing electron-hole pair recombination.In addition,Ag doping facilitated O_(2) adsorption on UTCN by decreasing the adsorption energy from -0.2 to -2.22 e V and favored the formation of O_(2)^(·-).Electron spin resonance and radical-quenching experiments showed that O_(2)^(·-)was the major reactive species in the degradation of Acetaminophen(paracetamol,APAP).

Optimal Operation with Dynamic Partitioning Strategy for Centralized Shared Energy Storage Station with Integration of Large-scale Renewable Energy

As renewable energy continues to be integrated into the grid,energy storage has become a vital technique supporting power system development.To effectively promote the efficiency and economics of energy storage,centralized shared energy storage(SES)station with multiple energy storage batteries is developed to enable energy trading among a group of entities.In this paper,we propose the optimal operation with dynamic partitioning strategy for the centralized SES station,considering the day-ahead demands of large-scale renewable energy power plants.We implement a multi-entity cooperative optimization operation model based on Nash bargaining theory.This model is decomposed into two subproblems:the operation profit maximization problem with energy trading and the leasing payment bargaining problem.The distributed alternating direction multiplier method(ADMM)is employed to address the subproblems separately.Simulations reveal that the optimal operation with a dynamic partitioning strategy improves the tracking of planned output of renewable energy entities,enhances the actual utilization rate of energy storage,and increases the profits of each participating entity.The results confirm the practicality and effectiveness of the strategy.

Constrained reinforcement learning with statewise projection: a control barrier function approach

Safety is a critical issue for reinforcement learning(RL), as it may be risky for some actual applications if the learning process involves unsafe exploration. Instead of formulating constraints as expectationbased in constrained RL, considering statewise safety in constrained RL is more meaningful. This work aims to address the issue of safe projection in RL by introducing a control barrier function that inherently learns a safe policy through a set certificate. We seek to analyze some theoretical properties of safe projection in the learning process, including convergence and performance bound, and extend the discussion into ensembles and guided controllers. Moreover, we approach analytical solutions for deterministic and stochastic system dynamics. Experimental results in different tasks show that the proposed method achieves better effects in terms of both performance and safety.

CsPbI_(3)perovskite quantum dots(QDs)are ideal materials for the next generation of red light-emitting diodes.However,the low phase stability of CsPbI_(3)QDs and long-chain insulating capping ligands hinder the improvement of device performance.Traditional in-situ ligand replacement and ligand exchange after synthesis were often difficult to control.Here,we proposed a new ligand exchange strategy using a proton-prompted insitu exchange of short 5-aminopentanoic acid ligands with long-chain oleic acid and oleylamine ligands to obtain stable small-size CsPbI_(3)QDs.This exchange strategy maintained the size and morphology of CsPbI_(3)QDs and improved the optical properties and the conductivity of CsPbI_(3)QDs films.As a result,high-efficiency red QD-based light-emitting diodes with an emission wavelength of 645 nm demonstrated a record maximum external quantum efficiency of 24.45%and an operational half-life of 10.79 h.

Structural and magnetic properties of micropolycrystalline cobalt thin films fabricated by direct current magnetron sputtering

Pure cobalt(Co)thin films were fabricated by direct current magnetron sputtering,and the effects of sputtering power and pres-sure on the microstructure and electromagnetic properties of the films were investigated.As the sputtering power increases from 15 to 60 W,the Co thin films transition from an amorphous to a polycrystalline state,accompanied by an increase in the intercrystal pore width.Simultaneously,the resistivity decreases from 276 to 99μΩ·cm,coercivity increases from 162 to 293 Oe,and in-plane magnetic aniso-tropy disappears.As the sputtering pressure decreases from 1.6 to 0.2 Pa,grain size significantly increases,resistivity significantly de-creases,and the coercivity significantly increases(from 67 to 280 Oe),which can be attributed to the increase in defect width.Corres-pondingly,a quantitative model for the coercivity of Co thin films was formulated.The polycrystalline films sputtered under pressures of 0.2 and 0.4 Pa exhibit significant in-plane magnetic anisotropy,which is primarily attributable to increased microstress.

P-aminobenzoic acid promotes retinal regeneration through activation of Ascl1a in zebrafish

The retina of zebrafish can regenerate completely after injury.M ultiple studies have demonstrated that metabolic alte rations occur during retinal damage;however to date no study has identified a link between metabolites and retinal regeneration of zebrafish.Here,we performed an unbiased metabolome sequencing in the N-methyl-D-aspartic acid-damaged retinas of zebrafish to demonstrate the metabolomic mechanism of retinal regeneration.Among the differentially-ex pressed metabolites,we found a significant decrease in p-aminobenzoic acid in the N-methyl-D-aspartic acid-damaged retinas of zebrafish.Then,we investigated the role of p-aminobenzoic acid in retinal regeneration in adult zebrafish.Impo rtantly,p-aminobenzoic acid activated Achaetescute complex-like 1a expression,thereby promoting Müller glia reprogramming and division,as well as Müller glia-derived progenitor cell proliferation.Finally,we eliminated folic acid and inflammation as downstream effectors of PABA and demonstrated that PABA had little effect on Müller glia distribution.Taken together,these findings show that PABA contributes to retinal regeneration through activation of Achaetescute complex-like 1a expression in the N-methyl-Daspartic acid-damaged retinas of zebrafish.
