The development of germplasm resources and advances in breeding methods have led to steady increases in yield and quality of rice (Oryza sativa l.). Three milestones in the recent history of rice breeding have contributed to these increases: dwarf rice breeding, hybrid rice breeding, and super rice breeding. On the 50th anniversary of the success of three-line hybrid rice,we highlight important scientific discoveries in rice breeding that were made by Chinese scientists and summarize the broader history of the field. We discuss the strategies that could be used in the future to optimize rice breeding further in the hope that China will continue to play a leading role in international rice breeding.

Members of the coronaviridae family are endemic to human populations and have caused several epidemics and pandemics in recent *** this review,we will discuss the feasibility of and progress toward the ultimate goal of creating a pan-coronavirus vaccine that can protect against infection and disease by all members of the coronavirus *** will detail the unmet clinical need associated with the continued transmission of SARS-CoV-2,MERS-CoV and the four seasonal coronaviruses(HCoV-OC43,Nl63,HKu1 and 229E)in humans and the potential for future zoonotic *** will highlight how first-generation SARS-CoV-2 vaccines and natural history studies have greatly increased our understanding of effective antiviral immunity to coronaviruses and have informed next-generation vaccine *** will then consider the ideal properties of a pan-coronavirus vaccine and propose a blueprint for the type of immunity that may offer ***,we will describe a subset of the diverse technologies and novel approaches being pursued with the goal of developing broadly or universally protective vaccines for coronaviruses.

Rice(Oryza sativa l.)isa staplecropforhalf theworld's Ipopulation and an important contributor to world food *** discovery and application of cytoplasmic male sterility(CMS)and fertility restoration(Rf)genetic materials have allowed the production of three-line hybrid rice(Kim and Zhang,2018),successfully harnessing heterosis in *** major CMS and/or Rf systems are commonly used to produce three-line hybrid rice:Wild Abortive(CMS-WA),Boroll(CMS-BT),and Honglian(CMS-Hl).Among these,the CMS-WA system is the most widely employed(Sattari et al.,2007;Chen and l.u,2014;Huang et al.,2014).Several Rf genes from different CMS systems have been cloned in rice,including Rf4 for CMS-WA(Tang et al.,2014),Rf1a and Rf1b for CMS-BT(Wang et al.,2006),Rf5,and Rf6 for CMS-Hl(Huet al.,2012;Huang et al.,2015),and Rf19for CMS-FA(Jiang et al.,2022).A molecular mechanism and evolutionary model for the CMS-WA gene WA352c have also been reported(luo et al.,2013;Tang et al.,2017).

The search for magnetic topological materials has been at the forefront of condensed matter research for their potential to host exotic states such as axion insulators, magnetic Weyl semimetals, Chern insulators,etc. To date, the MnBi2nTe3n+1family is the only group of materials showcasing van der Waals-layered structures, intrinsic magnetism and non-trivial band topology without trivial bands at the Fermi level. The interplay between magnetism and band topology in this family has led to the proposal of various topological phenomena, including the quantum anomal.us Hall effect, quantum spin Hall effect and quantum magnetoelectric effect. Among these, the quantum anomal.us Hall effect has been experimentally observed at record-high temperatures, highlighting the unprecedented potential of this family of materials in fundamental science and technological innovation. In this paper, we provide a comprehensive review of the research progress in this intrinsic magnetic topological insulator family, with a focus on single-crystal growth, characterization of chemical disorder, manipulation of magnetism through chemical substitution and external pressure, and important questions that remain to be conclusively answered.

The thorough investigation of nanoplastics(NPs)in aqueous environments requires efficient and expeditious quantitative analytical methods that are sensitive to environmentally relevant NP concentrations and convenient to *** analysis-based quantitative methods have been acknowledged as effective and rapid approaches for quantifying NP concentrations in laboratory-scale ***,we compared three commonly used optical response indicators,namely fluorescence intensity(FI),ultraviolet absorbance,and turbidity,to assess their performance in quantifying ***,orthogonal experiments were conducted to evaluate the influence of various water quality parameters on the preferred indicator-based quantification *** results revealed that FI exhibits the highest correlation coefficient(>0.99)with NP ***,the limit of quantification(lOQ)for various types of NPs is exceptionally low,ranging from 0.0089 to 0.0584 mg/l in ultrapure water,well below environmentally relevant *** variations in water quality parameters such as pH,salinity,suspended solids(SS),and humic acid,a robust relationship between detectable FI and NP concentration was ***,an increased matrix,especially SS in water samples,results in an enhanced lOQ for ***,the quantitative method remains applicable in real water bodies,especially in drinking water,with NP lOQ as low as 0.0157–0.0711 mg/*** exceeds the previously reported detectable concentration for 100 nm NPs at 40µg/ml.using surface-enhanced Raman *** study confirms the potential of FI as a reliable indicator for the rapid quantification of NPs in aqueous environments,offering substantial advantages in terms of both convenience and cost-effectiveness.

In this paper,we introduce and analyze an augmented mixed discontinuous Galerkin(MDG)method for a class of quasi-Newtonian Stokes *** the mixed formulation,the unknowns are strain rate,stress and velocity,which are approximated by a discontinuous piecewise polynomial triplet ■for k≥***,the discontinuous piecewise polynomial function spaces for the field of strain rate and the stress field are designed to be *** addition,the pressure is easily recovered through simple *** the benefit of the analysis,we enrich the MDG scheme with the constitutive equation relating the stress and the strain rate,so that the well-posedness of the augmented formulation is obtained by a nonlinear functional *** k≥0,we get the optimal convergence order for the stress in broken ■(div)-norm and velocity in l^(2)-***,the error estimates of the strain rate and the stress in-norm,and the pressure in l^(2)-norm are optimal.under certain ***,several numerical examples are given to show the performance of the augmented MDG method and verify the theoretical *** evidence is provided to show that the orders of convergence are sharp.

In this paper,we concentrate on a reconfigurable intelligent surface(RIS)-aided mobile edge computing(MEC)system to improve the offload efficiency with moving user equipments(uEs).We aim to minimize the energy consumption of all.uEs by jointly optimizing the discrete phase shift of RIS,uEs’transmitting power,computing resources allocation,and the uEs’task offloading strategies for local computing and *** formulated problem is a sequential decision making across multiple coherent time ***,the mobility of uEs brings uncertainties into the decision-making *** cope with this challenging problem,the deep reinforcement learning-based Soft Actor-Critic(SAC)algorithm is first proposed to effectively optimize the discrete phase of RIS and the uEs’task offloading ***,the transmitting power and computing resource allocation can be determined based on the *** results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can be trained more stably and perform approximately 14%lower than the deep deterministic policy gradient benchmark in terms of energy consumption.

Aerodynamic pressure significantly impacts the scientific evaluation of tunnel service *** aerodynamic pressure of two trains running in a double-track tunnel is considerably more complicated than that of a single *** used the numerical method to investigate the difference in aerodynamic pressure between a single train and two trains running in a double-track ***,the numerical method was verified by comparing the results of numerical simulation and on-site ***,the characteristics of aerodynamic pressure were ***,the influence of various train-tunnel factors on the characteristics of aerodynamic pressure was *** results show that the aerodynamic pressure variation can be divided into stage I:irregular pressure fluctuations before the train tail leaves the tunnel exit,and stage II:periodic pressure declines after the train tail leaves the tunnel *** addition,the aerodynamic pressure simultaneously jumps positively or drops negatively for a single train or two trains running in double-track tunnel *** pressure amplitude in the two-train case is higher than that for a single *** maximum positive peak pressure difference(P_(STP))and maximum negative peak pressure difference(P_(STN))increase as train speed rises to the power from 2.256 to 2.930 in stage *** P_(STP) and P_(STN) first increase and then decrease with the increase of tunnel length in stage *** P_(STP) and P_(STN) increase as the blockage ratio rises to the power from 2.032 to 2.798 in stages I and II.
