Analysis of imbibition of n-alkanes in kerogen slits by molecular dynamics simulation for characterization of shale oil rocks

Shale oil formations contain both inorganic and organic media.The organic matter holds both free oil in the pores and dissolved oil within the kerogen molecules.The free oil flow in organic pores and the dissolved oil diffusion in kerogen molecules are coupled together.The molecular flow of free n-alkanes is an important process of shale oil accumulation and production.To study the dynamics of imbibition process of n-alkane molecules into kerogen slits,molecular dynamics(MD)simulations are conducted.Effects of slit width,temperature,and n-alkane types on the penetration speed,dynamic contact angle,and molecular conformations were analyzed.Results showed that molecular transportation of n-alkanes is dominated by molecular structure and molecular motion at this scale.The space-confinement conformational changes of molecules slow down the filling speeds in the narrow slits.The n-alkane molecules with long carbon chains require more time to undergo conformational changes.The high content of short-chain alkanes and high temperature facilitate the flow of alkane mixtures in kerogen slits.Results obtained from this study are useful for understanding the underlying nanoscale flow mechanism in shale formations.

When COVID-19 pandemic hit China,Chinese clinical psychologists,counselors and other practitioners reacted quickly to provide psychological interventions for different target groups.Different professional ethical concerns and potential transgressions arose during different stages of pandemic.This paper aimed to summarize different ethical concerns and transgressions during different stages of pandemic in China,as well as how the professional ethical workgroup in the registration system of clinical psychologists and professional organizations of Chinese Psychological Society(CPS)to publish a series of documents as recommendations on ethical practice.It is hoped by providing a picture of“problems vs.solutions”in terms of professional ethical issues on psychological interventions for COVID-19 pandemic in China,the paper may provide certain inspirations as well as emotional support to clinical practitioners from other countries and regions who have beenfighting the pandemic.

Tailoring the electronic metal-support interaction(EMSI)has attracted considerable interests as one of the most efficient approaches to improve both the activity and stability of metal catalysts in heterogeneous catalysis.In this viewpoint,we illustrate the methodology and relevant fundamentals on the disentanglement,characterization,and interpretation of EMSI.Under the choice of monometallic catalyst over inert support,a combination of optimal experiment design,multimodal techniques,in situ characterization,with a comprehensive understanding of the underlying measurement protocols is highly desirable for a reliable determination of EMSI.Accordingly,not only the d-band filling but also d-band energy within the EMSI should be taken into consideration for providing general principles to guide the electron-promoting catalytic reaction.

Kinetics and mechanistic insights into the active sites of Au catalysts for selective propylene oxidation

Identification of the catalytically active sites emerges as the prerequisite for an atomic-level comprehensive understanding and further rational design of highly efficient catalysts.Here,we demonstrate a kinetics strategy to identify the active sites of Au catalyst for the disentanglement of geometric and electronic effects on the selective oxidation of propylene to acrolein.Both the Ti-containing titanium-silicalite-1(TS-1)and Ti-free silicalite-1(S-1)were employed as supports to immobilize Au catalysts,which were investigated by a combination of multiple characterization,kinetics analysis,crystal structure modelling.The Au(111)sites are identified as the main active site for acrolein formation,while their electronic effects are highly relevant to the presence or absence of Ti.Moreover,propylene epoxide(PO)formation mainly involves the co-participation of Au and Ti sites,the proximity between Au and Ti sites is found to have less influences on PO formation in a certain distance.In comparison,acrolein is very likely to generate over Au(111)sites via the hydrogen-assisted O_(2) activation to oxygenated species for its oxidizing propylene.The insights gained here could guide the design and preparation of Au catalysts for selective propylene oxidation.

Linear Fresnel collector system as main solar energy collecting technology is widely studied.The secondary reflector has significant influence on the heat flux distribution on the linear Fresnel collector.In this work,the heat flux and temperature distribution on linear Fresnel collector is compared with different secondary reflectors of simple trapezoidal concentrator,segmented parabolic concentrator and compound parabolic concentrator under varied incident ray angle.The uniformity index is applied to evaluate the Linear Fresnel reflector system heat flux distribution performance.The results show that the value of uniformity index increases with the increasing of incident ray angle.The compound parabolic concentrator has the highest value of uniformity index compared with simple trapezoidal concentrator and segmented parabolic concentrator in this work.The highest value of uniformity index is 0.8137 with compound parabolic concentrator.This work provides effective and practical guide to design and evaluate the secondary reflector in linear Fresnel reflector system.

Design of a 3D Wilkinson power divider using through glass via technology

Due to its low electrical loss and low process cost, a glass interposer has been developed to provide a compelling alternative to the silicon-based interposer for packaging of future 2-D and 3-D ICs. In this study,through glass vias(TGVs) are used to implement 3-D inductors for minimal footprint and large quality factor. Using the inductors and parallel plate capacitors, a compact 3-D Wilkinson power divider is designed and analyzed.Compared with some reported power dividers, the proposed TGV-based circuit has an ultra-compact size and excellent electrical performance.

Next POI Recommendation Based on Location Interest Mining with Recurrent Neural Networks

In mobile social networks,next point-of-interest(POI)recommendation is a very important function that can provide personalized location-based services for mobile users.In this paper,we propose a recurrent neural network(RNN)-based next POI recommendation approach that considers both the location interests of similar users and contextual information(such as time,current location,and friends’preferences).We develop a spatial-temporal topic model to describe users’location interest,based on which we form comprehensive feature representations of user interests and contextual information.We propose a supervised RNN learning prediction model for next POI recommendation.Experiments based on real-world dataset verify the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed approach,and achieve best F1-score of 0.196754 on the Gowalla dataset and 0.354592 on the Brightkite dataset.

PSA controls hepatic lipid metabolism by regulating the NRF2 signaling pathway

The activity of proteinase is reported to correlate with the development and progression of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).Puromycin-sensitive aminopeptidase(PSA/NPEPPS)is an integral nontransmembrane enzyme that functions to catalyze the cleavage of amino acids near the N-terminus of polypeptides.A previous study suggested that this enzyme acts as a regulator of neuropeptide activity;however,the metabolic function of this enzyme in the liver has not been explored.Here,we identified the novel role of PSA in hepatic lipid metabolism.Specifically,PSA expression was lower in fatty livers from NAFLD patients and mice(HFD,ob/ob,and db/db).PSA knockdown in cultured hepatocytes exacerbated diet-induced triglyceride accumulation through enhanced lipogenesis and attenuated fatty acid β-oxidation.Moreover,PSA mediated activation of the master regulator of antioxidant response,nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(NRF2),by stabilizing NRF2 protein expression,which further induced downstream antioxidant enzymes to protect the liver from oxidative stress and lipid overload.Accordingly,liver-specific PSA overexpression attenuated hepatic lipid accumulation and steatosis in ob/ob mice.Furthermore,in human liver tissue samples,decreased PSA expression correlated with the progression of NAFLD.Overall,our findings suggest that PSA is a pivotal regulator of hepatic lipid metabolism and its antioxidant function occurs by suppressing NRF2 ubiquitination.Moreover,PSA may be a potential biomarker and therapeutic target for treating NAFLD.
