To address the challenge of achieving both high sensitivity and a high quality factor in quartz crystal microbalance(QCM)humidity sensors,a nanodiamond(ND)/Ti_(3)C_(2)MXene composite-coated QCM humidity sensor was *** material characteristics of ND,Ti_(3)C_(2)MXene,and ND/Ti_(3)C_(2)MXene composite were analyzed by transmission electron microscopy(TEM)and Fourier transform infrared(FTIR)*** experimental results demonstrated that the hydrophilic ND nanoparticles coated on Ti_(3)C_(2) MXene nanosheet prevented the self-stacking of Ti_(3)C_(2)MXene and enhanced the sensitivity of Ti_(3)C_(2) MXene-based QCM humidity ***,the high mechanical modulus of Ti_(3)C_(2) MXene material helped ND/Ti_(3)C_(2)MXene composite-coated QCM humidity sensor to achieve a high quality factor(>20,000).ND/Ti_(3)C_(2)MXene compositecoated QCM humidity sensor exhibited a sensitivity of 82.45 Hz/%RH,a humidity hysteresis of 1.1%RH,fast response/recovery times,acceptable repeatability,and good stability from 11.3%RH to 97.3%*** response mechanism of ND/Ti_(3)C_(2) MXene composite-coated QCM humidity sensor was analyzed in combination with a bi-exponential kinetic adsorption ***,the potential application of ND/Ti_(3)C_(2)MXene composite-coated QCM humidity sensor was demonstrated through its frequency response to wooden blocks with different moisture contents.

Indications of pro-inflammatory cytokines in laparoscopic and open liver resection for early-stage hepatocellular carcinoma

The Brillouin scattering is one of the strongest nonlinear optical effects in dielectrics[1].In particular,the backward Brillouin scattering(BBS)provides an efficient method to achieve low-noise optical gain for active photonics[2]and the coherent interconnects between 10 GHz phonons and photons[3].However,previous studies on BBS are primarily limited to the unconfined phonons[1]or phonon confined in suspended structures[4-6].

We report the confirmation of a sub-Saturn-size exoplanet,TOI-1194 b,with a mass of about 0.456+0.055-0.051M_(J),and a very low mass companion star with a mass of about 96.5±1.5 MJ,TOI-1251 *** candidates provided by the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite(TESS)are suitable for further follow-up observations by ground-based telescopes with small and medium *** analysis is performed based on data from several telescopes worldwide,including telescopes in the Sino-German multiband photometric campaign,which aimed at confirming TESS Objects of Interest(TOIs)using ground-based small-aperture and medium-aperture telescopes,especially for long-period ***-1194 b is confirmed based on the consistent periodic transit depths from the multiband photometric *** measure an orbital period of 2.310644±0.000001 days,the radius is 0.767+0.045-0.041RJ and the amplitude of the RV curve is 69.4_(-7.3)^(+7.9)m s^(-1).TOI-1251 B is confirmed based on the multiband photometric and high-resolution spectroscopic data,whose orbital period is 5.963054+0.000002-0.000001days,radius is 0.947+0.035-0.033 R_(J) and amplitude of the RV curve is 9849_(-40)^(+42)ms^(-1).

Short photoperiod increases energy intake, metabolic thermogenesis and organ mass in silky starlings Sturnus sericeus

Environmental cues play important roles in the regulation of an animal＇s physiology and behavior. One such cue, photoperiod, plays an important role in the seasonal acclimatization of birds. It has been demonstrated that an animal＇s body mass, basal metabolic rate （BMR）, and energy intake, are all affected by photoperiod. The present study was designed to examine photoperiod induced changes in the body mass, metabolism and metabolic organs of the silky starling, Stumus sericeus. Captive silky starlings increased their body mass and BMR during four weeks of acclimation to a short photoperiod. Birds acclimated to a short photopedod also increased the mass of certain organs （liver, gizzard and small intestine）, and both gross energy intake （GEl） and digestible energy intake （DEI）, relative to those acclimated to a long photoperiod. Furthermore, BMR was positively correlated with body mass, liver mass, GEl and DEI. These results suggest that silky starlings increase metabolic thermogenesis when exposed to a short photoperiod by increasing their body and metabolic organ mass, and their GEl and DEI. These findings support the hypothesis that bird species from temperate climates typically display high phenotypic flexibility in thermogenic capacity.

An iterative computation method for interpreting and extending an analytical battery model

Battery models are of great importance to develop portable computing systems,for whether the design of low power hardware architecture or the design of battery-aware scheduling *** this paper,we present a physically justified iterative computing method to illustrate the discharge,recovery and charge process of Li/Li-ion *** discharge and recovery processes correspond well to an existing accurate analytical battery model:R-V-W's analytical model,and thus interpret this model *** method can also extend R-V-W's model easily to accommodate the charge *** work will help the system designers to grasp the characteristics of R-V-W's battery model and also,enable to predict the battery behavior in the charge process in a uniform way as the discharge process and the recovery *** are performed to show the ac-curacy of the extended model by comparing the predicted charge times with those derived from the DUALFOIL *** profiles with different combinations of battery modes were *** experimental results show that the extended battery model preserves high accuracy in predicting the charge behavior.

The interaction effect of grip strength and lung function (especially FVC) on cardiovascular diseases: a prospective cohort study in jiangsu Province, China

OBJECTIVE Lung function and grip strength(GS)are associated with cardiovascular disease(CVD),but whether these risk factors interact to affect CVD is *** study aimed to explore the interactions between lung function and GS with major CVD(defined as fatal/non-fatal myocardial infarction,stroke,and heart failure)*** We conducted a prospective cohort study on the Chinese population in jiangsu *** proportional haz-ards models were used to explore the associations between GS,lung function,and major CVD *** A total of 5967 participants were included in our study;among them,182 participants developed major ***-cipants with low forced vital capacity(FVC)had a higher risk of major CVD(hazard ratio(HR)=1.45;95%confidence interval(CI):1.05-2.01;P<0.05)compared with normal *** risk of major CVD incidence(HR=0.54;95%CI:0.35-0.83;P<0.01)was significantly lower in participants with high GS than in individuals with low *** interaction between FVC and GS for major CVD incidence(P=0.006)was statistically *** with normal FVC participants with high GS,low FVC parti-cipants with low GS had the highest risk of major CVD incidence(HR=2.50;95%CI:1.43-4.36;P<0.01).CONCLUSION Among people with low FVC,the risk of major CVD is lower with high *** with low FVC and low GS have the highest risk of major ***,more attention should be paid to the incidence of major CVD in individu-als with low FVC,especially those who have lower GS.

Rapid Inactivation of Chloroplastic Ascorbate Peroxidase is Responsible for Oxidative Modification to Rubisco in Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum) under Cadmium Stress

To investigate the sensitive site of antioxidant systems in chloroplast under cadmium stress and its consequence on reactive oxygen species production and action, the sub-organellar localization of chloroplast superoxide dismutases （SOD, EC 1.***.1.1） and ascorbic peroxidase （APX, EC 1.***.1.11） isoenzymes and changes of enzymes activities under cadmium stress were investigated in tomato seedlings. Two APX isoforms, one thylakoid-bound and one stromal, were detected. Cd at 50 μM induced a moderate increase of SOD activities but a rapid inactivation of both APX isoenzymes. APX inactivation was mainly related to the decrease of ascorbate concentration, as supported by in vitro treatment of exogenous ascorbate and APX kinetic properties under Cd stress. H2O2 accumulation in chloroplast, as a consequence of APX inactivation, was associated with a 60% loss of Rubisco （EC 4.***.1.39） activity, which could be partially accounted for by a 10% loss of Rubisco content. Protein oxidation assay found that the Rubisco large subunit was the most prominent carbonylated protein; the level of carbonylated Rubisco large subunit increased fivefold after Cd exposure. Thiol groups in the Rubisco large subunit were oxidized, as indicated by non-reducing electrophoresis. Treating crude extract with H2O2 resulted in a similar pattern of protein oxidation and thiols oxidation with that observed in Cd-treated plants. Our study indicates that APXs in the chloroplast is a highly sensitive site of antioxidant systems under Cd stress, and the inactivation of APX could be mainly responsible for oxidative modification to Rubisco and subsequent decrease in its activity.

Identification of candidate piRNAs in the gonads of Paralichthys olivaceus (Japanese flounder)

Piwi-interacting RNA （piRNA） plays an important role in the gonadal development and maintenance of Teleostei. In this study, piRNA libraries derived from the adult gonads of Japanese flounder （Paralichthys ofivaceus） were generated using next-generation sequencing technology. Using zebrafish piRNAs as a reference, 5 865 unique candidate piRNAs were identified; 289 candidate piRNA clusters （PRCs） were generated from the above piRNAs. Among the isolated candidate PRCs, a total of 38 ovary-specific, 45 ovary-bias, 24 testis-specific, and 131 testis-bias PRCs were found. The relative expression levels of seven PRCs were validated through quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction. The results of this study will help facilitate exploration of the development and maintenance of the phenotypic sex mechanism in P. olivaceus.

Effect of ephrin-B2 on the expressions of angiopoietin-1 and-2 after focal cerebral ischemia/reperfusion

Ephrin-B2 has been shown to participate in angiogenesis, but the underlying mechanisms involved remain unclear. In this study, a rat model of local cerebral ischemia was prepared by focal middle cerebral artery occlusion, followed by 24-hour reperfusion. Then, ephrin-B2 protein was administered intracerebroventricularly for 3 consecutive days via a micro-osmotic pump. Western blot assay and quantitative real-time reverse transcription PCR demonstrated the expression levels of angiopoietin-1 （Ang-1） mRNA and protein in the penumbra cortex of the ephrin-B2 treated group were decreased at day 4 after reperfusion, and increased at day 28, while the expression levels of angiopoietin-2 （Ang-2） were highly up-regulated at all time points tested. Double immunofluorescent staining indicated that Ang-1 and Ang-2 were both expressed in vascular endothelial cells positive for CD31. These findings indicate that ephrin-B2 influences the expressions of Ang-1 and Ang-2 during angiogenesis following transient focal cerebral ischemia.
