BACKGROUND Polyneuropathy,organomegaly,endocrinopathy,M-protein,skin changes(POEMS)syndrome is a rare paraneoplastic syndrome that encompass multiple systems.The most common clinical symptoms of POEMS syndrome are pro-gressive sensorimotor polyneuropathy,organ enlargement,endocrine disorders,darkening skin,a monoclonal plasma cell proliferative disorder,and lymph node hyperplasia.The organomegaly consists of hepatosplenomegaly and/or lym-phadenopathy;cases of cardiomyopathy are rare.Diagnoses are often delayed because of the atypical nature of the syndrome,exposing patients to possibly severe disability.Therefore,identifying atypical symptoms can improve the prognosis and quality of life among POEMS syndrome patients.lenalidomide and dexamethasone.CONCLUSION When patients with cardiomyopathy have systemic manifestations such as numb limbs and darkening skin,the POEMS syndrome is the most possible diagnosis.

Meta-analyses of nine polymorphisms of six genes with the risk of schizophrenia

The aim of this study was to determine whether 9 genetic polymorphisms confered susceptibility to schizophrenia (SCZ). The authors conducted meta-analyses on associations between SCZ and 9 variants of 6 genes including PIK3C3 (432C > T), ABCB1 (C3435T and G2677T), CTLA4 (+49A/G), OLIG2 (rs762178), GAD1 (rs1978340, rs3749034 and rs769395), and GRIN1 (G1001C). A total of 34 case-control studies were involved in our meta-analyses. Our results showed no significant association between all the loci and SCZ. This meta-analysis confirmed a lack of association of SCZ for 9 genetic polymorphisms including GRIN1 G1001C, ABCB1 C3435T and G2677T, CTLA4 + 49A/G, OLIG2 rs762178, GAD1 gene rs1978340, rs3749034 and rs769395, and PIK3C3 432C > T.

Glioma is a common tumor originating in the brain that has a high mortality rate.Temozolomide(TMZ)is the first-line treatment for high-grade gliomas.However,a large pro-portion of gliomas are resistant to TMZ,posing a great challenge to their treatment.In the study,the specific functions and mechanism(s)by which cortistatin(CORT)regulates TMZ resis-tance and glioma progression were evaluated.The decreased expression of CoRT was detected in glioma tissues,and highly expressed CORT was associated with a better survival rate in pa-tients with glioma.CORT overexpression notably decreased the capacity of glioma cells to pro-liferate and migrate in vitro and to form tumors in vivo.CORT overexpression also markedly suppressed the viability and enhanced the apoptosis of TMZ-resistant U251 cells by regulating MGMT,p21,and Puma expression.Importantly,CORT overexpression reduced the resistance of gliomas to TMZ in vivo.CORT expression Was negatively correlated with MGMT expression in both glioma tissues and cells,and it was found that CORT inhibited NF-kB pathway activation in glioma cells,thereby inhibiting MGMT expression.In conclusion,CORT regulates glioma cell growth,migration,apoptosis,and TMZ resistance by weakening the activity of NF-kB/p65 and thereby regulating MGMT expression.The CORT/NF-kB/MGMT axis might be regarded as a molecular mechanism contributing to the resistance of glioma to TMZ.Our data also suggest that CORT regulates the viability and metastatic potential of glioma cells,independent of its effects on TMZ resistance,providing evidence of novel therapeutic targets for glioma that should be evaluated infurther studies.

Two-dimensional (2D) heterostructures have shown great potential in advanced photovoltaics due to their restrained carrier recombination, prolonged exciton lifetime and improved light absorption. Herein, a 2D polarized heterostructure is constructed between Janus MoSSe and MoTe_(2) monolayers and is systematically investigated via first-principles calculations. Electronically, the valence band and conduction band of the MoSSe−MoTe_(2) (MoSeS−MoTe_(2)) are contributed by MoTe_(2) and MoSSe layers, respectively, and its bandgap is 0.71 (0.03) eV. A built-in electric field pointing from MoTe_(2) to MoSSe layers appears at the interface of heterostructures due to the interlayer carrier redistribution. Notably, the band alignment and built-in electric field make it a direct z-scheme heterostructure, benefiting the separation of photogenerated electron-hole pairs. Besides, the electronic structure and interlayer carrier reconstruction can be readily controlled by reversing the electric polarization of the MoSSe layer. Furthermore, the light absorption of the MoSSe/MoTe_(2) heterostructure is also improved in comparison with the separated monolayers. Consequently, in this work, a new z-scheme polarized heterostructure with polarization-controllable optoelectronic properties is designed for highly efficient optoelectronics.

目的探讨早期负重锻炼对老年髋部骨折术后骨质疏松进展的影响。方法纳入本院接受手术治疗的63例老年髋部骨折患者,根据开始负重锻炼时间设立观察组与对照组,分析术后患者健侧髋关节骨密度的变化。观察组在术后1周内开始定量的辅助下单腿站立训练及负重行走锻炼,对照组在术后3周后方开始定量的辅助下单腿站立训练及负重行走锻炼。分别检测并比较两组术前、术后6周、12周、24周的健侧髋关节骨密度值。结果术后两组病例均出现了健侧髋部骨密度减低,与对照组相比,观察组各时间段骨密度下降幅度更小。观察组术后第12周时健侧髋关节骨密度达到最低值,较术前平均下降0.8%;对照组在术后第24周时骨密度最低,较术前平均下降3.14%。将两组健侧髋部骨密度进行比较,其中股骨颈部在术后6周、12周、24周两组比较差异有统计学意义(P0.05)。结论早期负重锻炼能延缓对侧髋部骨密度的降低,延缓骨质疏松的进展,有利于二次骨折的预防。

Sulfide solid electrolytes(SEs)have attracted ever-increasing attention due to their superior roomtemperature ionic conductivity(~10^(-2) S cm^(-1)).Additionally,the integration of sulfide SEs and highvoltage cathodes is promising to achieve higher energy density.However,the incompatible interfaces between sulfide SEs and high-voltage cathodes have been one of the key factors limiting their applications.Therefore,this review presents a critical summarization of the interfacial issues in all-solid-state lithium batteries based on sulfide SEs and high-voltage cathodes and proposes strategies to stabilize the electrolyte/cathode interfaces.Moreover,the future research direction of electrolyte/cathode interfaces and application prospects of powder technology in sulfide-based ASSLBs were also discussed.

BACKGROUND Digital subtraction angiography(DSA),the gold standard of cerebrovascular disease diagnosis,is limited in its diagnostic ability to evaluate arterial diameter.Intravascular ultrasonography(IVUS)has advantages in assessing stenosis and plaque nature and improves the evaluation and effectiveness of carotid artery sten-ting(CAS).CASE SUMMARY Case 1:A 65-year-old man presented with a five-year history of bilateral lower limb weakness due to stroke.Physical examination showed decreased strength(5-/5)in both lower limbs.Carotid artery ultrasound,magnetic resonance angiography,and computed tomography angiography(CTA)showed a right proximal internal carotid artery(ICA)stenosis(70%-99%),acute cerebral infarction,and severe right ICA stenosis,respectively.We performed IVUS-assisted CAS to measure the stenosis and detected a low-risk plaque at the site of stenosis prior to stent implantation.Post-stent balloon dilatation was performed and postoperative IVUS demonstrated successful expansion and adherence.CTA six months postoperatively showed no significant increase in in-stent stenosis.Case 2:A 36-year-old man was admitted with a right common carotid artery(CCA)dissection detected by ultrasound.Physical examination showed no positive neurological signs.Carotid ultrasound and CTA showed lumen dilation in the proximal CCA with an intima-like structure and bulging in the proximal segment of the right CCA with strip-like low-density shadow(dissection or carotid web).IVUS-assisted DSA confirmed right CCA dissection.CAS was performed and intraoperative IVUS suggested a large residual false lumen.Post-stent balloon dilatation was performed reducing the false lumen.DSA three months postoperatively indicated good stent expansion with mild stenosis.CONCLUSION IVUS aids decision-making during CAS by accurately assessing carotid artery wall lesions and plaque nature preoperatively,dissection and stenosis morphology intraoperatively,and visualizing and confirming CAS postoperatively.

Metallic copper is widely used as current collector(CC) for graphite anode of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs) due to its high electrical conductivity and electrochemical stability. However, the large volume density of commercial copper foil(~8.9 g·cm^(-3)) limits the increase of energy density of battery. Here, copper-coated porous polyimide(Cu@PPI) was prepared by vacuum evaporation as collector for the graphite anode. The sandwich structure connects the copper metal on both sides of the collector with excellent electrical conductivity. Compared to commercial Cu foil, Cu@PPI has lighter mass(≤3.9 mg for disc of 12 mm diameter versus 9.9 mg of ~10 μm Cu foil) and lower volume density(≤3.3 g·cm^(-3)). In addition, the porous structure allows of better adhesion of reactive substances and electrochemical properties than pure Cu foils. It is estimated that the energy density of Cu@PPI should be much higher than that of Cu foil. This strategy should be applicable for other current collectors.

目的探究基于低共熔溶剂(deep eutectic solvents,DESs)同时清洗植物性食品中多种污染元素的可行性。方法室温下,以六偏磷酸钠为氢键受体,D-葡萄糖酸、山梨醇和尿素为氢键供体制备3种新型DESs,即六偏磷酸钠-D-葡萄糖酸(sodium hexametaphosphate-gluconic acid,SHMP-Glc A)、六偏磷酸钠-山梨醇(sodium hexametaphosphate-sorbitol,SHMP-Sbt)及六偏磷酸钠-尿素(sodium hexametaphosphate-urea,SHMP-Ur),测定3种DESs的黏度、密度、熔点和p H,并利用傅里叶变换红外光谱法(Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,FTIR)、热重法(thermo-gravimetry,TG)进行表征。超声辅助下,将3种DESs用于清洗植物性食品中22种污染元素,利用电感耦合等离子体质谱法(inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry,ICP-MS)测定清洗前后样品中7种重金属元素(Mn、Ni、Cu、Zn、Cd、Ba和Pb)、1种类金属元素(As)、14种稀土元素(La、Ce、Pr、Nd、Sm、Eu、Gd、Tb、Dy、Ho、Er、Tm、Yb和Lu)的含量,并探究DESs的残留量。结果DESs的黏度、密度和熔点与氢键的形成有关,FTIR结果表明DESs中存在氢键。p H与DESs前体组分有关。SHMP-Glc A、SHMP-Sbt和SHMP-Ur的分解温度分别为185、348和167℃。与纯水清洗对照相比,DESs对植物性食品中多种污染元素的清洗效果大幅提高;变异系数法赋权综合评分显示,SHMP-Glc A对元素的去除率最优(综合评分0.6281),次之SHMP-Ur(综合评分-0.1335),SHMP-Sbt第三(综合评分-0.4946)。DESs在样品中残留的磷元素含量不超过磷酸盐类物质的每日最大容许摄入量(70 mg/kg bw,以P计)。结论制备的低挥发性的新型DESs能高效去除植物性食品中多种污染元素,在保障食品安全方面具有应用前景。
