In this letter,we review the article“Effects of elafibranor on liver fibrosis and gut barrier function in a mouse model of alcohol-associated liver disease”.We focus specifically on the detrimental effects of alcohol-associated liver disease(ALD)on human *** its insidious onset and increasing incidence,increasing awareness of ALD can contribute to reducing the prevalence of liver *** comprises a spectrum of several different disorders,including liver steatosis,steatohepatitis,fibrosis,cirrhosis,and hepatocellular *** pathogenesis of ALD is exceedingly *** studies have shown that peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors(PPARs)regulate lipid metabolism,glucose homeostasis and inflammatory responses within the ***,their dysfunction is a major contributor to the progression of *** is an oral,dual PPARαandδ*** effectiveness of elafibranor in the treatment of ALD remains *** this letter,we emphasize the harm of ALD and the burden it places on ***,we summarize the clinical management of all stages of ALD and present new insights into its pathogenesis and potential therapeutic ***,we discuss the mechanisms of action of PPARαandδagonists,the significance of their antifibrotic effects on ALD and future research directions.

Effects of Bupleurum extract on blood metabolism, antioxidant status and immune function in heat-stressed dairy cows

This experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of Bupleurum extract （BE） on blood metabolites, antioxidant status, and immune function in dairy cows under heat stress. Forty lactating Holstein cows were randomly assigned to 1 of 4 treatments. The treatments consisted of 0, 0.25, 0.5, and 1.0 g of BE kg-1 dry matter. Supplementation with BE decreased （P〈0.05） blood urea nitrogen （BUN） contents and increased blood total protein （TP） and albumin （ALB） levels compared with control cows, but it had no effects （P〉0.05） on blood glucose （GLU）, nonesterified fatty acid （NEFA）, total triglycedde （TG）, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol （LDL-C）, and high density lipoprotein cholesterol （HDL-C）. Compared with control cows, cows fed BE had higher （P〈0.05） superoxide dismutase （SOD） and glutathione peroxidase （GSH-Px） activity. However, supplementation with BE had no effect （P〉0.05） on total antioxidant capacity （T-AOC） or malondialdehyde （MDA） levels. The immunoglobulin （Ig） A and G contents increased （P〈0.05） in cows fed 0.25 or 0.5 g of BE kg-1. Interleukin （IL）-2 and IL-4 levels were higher （P〈0.05） in cows fed 0.5 and 1.0 g of BE kg-1, and IL-6 was significantly elevated （P〈0.05） in cows fed 0.5 g of BE kg-1. There were no treatment effects （P〉0.05） on the CD4＋ and CD8＋ T lymphocyte ratios, CD4＋/CD8＋ratio, or tumor necrosis factor-α （TNF-α） level among the groups. These findings suggest that BE supplementation may improve protein metabolism, in addition to enhancing antioxidant activity and immune function in heat-stressed dairy cows.

Effect of power supply parameters on discharge characteristics and sterilization efficiency of magnetically driven rotating gliding arc

Plasma sterilization is a new generation of high-tech sterilization method that is fast,safe,and pollution *** is widely used in medical,food,and environmental protection *** air sterilization is an emerging field of plasma application,which puts higher requirements on the miniaturization,operational stability,and operating cost of plasma *** this study,a novel magnetically driven rotating gliding arc(MDRGA)discharge device was used to sterilize Lactobacillus *** with the traditional gas-driven gliding arc,this device has a simple structure and a more stable gliding *** using COMSOL Multiphysics showed that adding permanent magnets can form a stable magnetic field,which is conducive to the formation of gliding *** on the discharge performance,ozone concentration,and sterilization effect were conducted using different power supply *** results revealed that the MDRGA process can be divided into three stages:starting,gliding,and *** voltage was the key factor for stable arc gliding,and both high and low voltages were not conducive to stable arc gliding and ozone *** this experimental setup,the sterilization effect was the best at 6.6 kV.A high modulation duty ratio was beneficial for achieving stable arc ***,when the duty ratio exceeded a certain value,the improvement in the sterilization effect was ***,considering the sterilization effect and energy factors comprehensively,we chose 80%as the optimal modulation duty ratio for this experimental device.

Reversibly Tuning Electrochemiluminescence with Stimulated Emission Route for Single-Cell Imaging

Electrochemiluminescence (ECL) has established itself as an excellent transduction technique in biosensing and light-emitting device, while conventional ECL mechanism depending on spontaneous emission of luminophores lacks reversibility and tunable emission characters, limiting the universality of ECL technique in the fields of fundamental research and clinical applications. Here, we report the first observation of stimulated emission route in ECL and thus establish a reversible tuning ECL microscopy for single-cell imaging. This microscopy uses a focused red-shifted beam to transfer spontaneous ECL into stimulated ECL, which enables selective and reversible tuning of ECL emission from homogeneous solution, single particles, and single cells. After excluding other possible competitive routes, the stimulated ECL emission route is confirmed by a dual-objective system in which the suppressed spontaneous ECL is accompanied by the enhanced stimulated ECL. By incorporating a commercial donut-shaped beam, the sharpness of single-cell matrix adhesion is improved 2 to 3 times compared with the counterpart in confocal ECL mode. The successful establishment of this stimulated emission ECL will greatly advance the development of light-emitting device and super-resolution ECL microscopy.

Learning in games:a systematic review

Game theory studies the mathematical models for self-interested individuals. Nash equilibrium is arguably the most central solution in game theory. While finding the Nash equilibrium in general is known as polynomial parity arguments on directed graphs(PPAD)-complete, learning in games provides an alternative to approximate Nash equilibrium, which iteratively updates the player's strategy through interactions with other players. Rules and models have been developed for learning in games, such as fictitious play and no-regret learning. Particularly, with recent advances in online learning and deep reinforcement learning,techniques from these fields greatly boost the breakthroughs in learning in games from theory to *** a result, we have witnessed many superhuman game AI systems. The techniques used in these systems evolve from conventional search and learning to purely reinforcement learning(RL)-style learning methods,gradually getting rid of the domain knowledge. In this article, we systematically review the above techniques,discuss the trend of basic learning rules towards a unified framework, and recap applications in large ***, we discuss some future directions and make the prospect of future game AI systems. We hope this article will give some insights into designing novel approaches.

A modern survey method for determining live loads based on multi-source and open-access data on the Internet

Sufficient survey data are required to describe the stochastic behaviors of live ***,due to manual and on-site operation required by traditional survey methods,traditional surveys face challenges like occupant resistance,high costs,and long implementation *** study proposes a new survey method to access live load data online and *** samples are acquired from multi-source,open-access and dynamically updated data on the *** change intervals,geometrical dimensions and object quantities are obtained from transaction information,building attributes and virtual reality models on real estate websites,*** object weights are collected from commodity information on e-commerce *** integration of the aforementioned data allows for the extraction of necessary statistics to describe a live load *** proposed method is applied to a live load survey in China,covering 20040 m^(2),with around 90000 samples acquired for object weights and load *** survey results reveal that about 70%−80%of the amplitude statistics are attributable to 1/6 of the total object types.

Maternal weight and its association with risk of overweight in offspring:a trajectory analysis from a birth cohort in China

Background Most studies on the association of maternal pregnancy weight with offspring weight trajectory have a short follow-up *** study aimed to explore the associations of maternal prepregnancy body mass index(BMI)and gestational weight gain(GWG)with childhood weight trajectories in a 7-year birth *** A total of 946 mother–child pairs(467 boys and 479 girls)from a longitudinal birth cohort in Tianjin City,China,were included in this study,ranging from pregnancy to offspring at 7 *** outcome variable was defined as overweight or not overweight in offspring at the last round.A group-based trajectory model was applied to identify childhood BMI trajectory *** Five discrete BMI trajectory groups were identified and characterized as constant underweight(25.2%),constant normal weight(42.8%),and high or increasing trajectory[at risk of overweight(16.9%),progressive overweight(11.0%)and progressive obesity(4.1%)].Maternal prepregnancy overweight was associated with 1.72(95%CI 1.14–2.60,P=0.01)to 4.02(95%CI 1.94–8.36,P<0.001)times the risk of all high or increasing trajectory groups,and excessive GWG was related to groups at risk of overweight[relative risk ratio(RRR)2.09,95%CI 1.27–3.46,P=0.004]and progressive obesity(RRR 3.33,95%CI 1.13–9.79,P=0.029).Children in all high or increasing trajectory groups were associated with greater overweight risk at the last round[risk ratios(RRs)ranged from 3.54(95%CI 2.53–4.95,P<0.001)to 6.18(95%CI 4.05–9.42,P<0.001)].Conclusion Maternal prepregnancy overweight and excessive gestational weight gain were associated with increasing or high-level childhood body mass index trajectories as well as a greater risk of overweight at 7 years.

First Digit Distributions of Gamma-Ray Bursts

The occurrence of the first significant digits from real world sources is usually not equally distributed,but is consistent with a logarithmic distribution instead,known as Benford’s *** this work,we perform a comprehensive investigation on the first digit distributions of the duration,fluence,and energy flux of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) for the first *** a complete GRB sample detected by the Fermi satellite,we find that the first digits of the duration and fluence adhere to Benford’s ***,the energy flux shows a significant departure from this law,which may be due to the fact that a considerable part of the energy flux measurements is restricted by lack of spectral *** on the conventional duration classification scheme,we also check if the durations and fluences of long and short GRBs (with duration T_(90)>2 s and T_(90)≤2 s,respectively) obey Benford’s *** find that the fluences of both long and short GRBs still agree with the Benford distribution,but their durations do not follow Benford’s *** results hint that the long–short GRB classification scheme does not directly represent the intrinsic physical classification scheme.
