Out of 1 989 wild acces.ions.s.wn in s.ed boxes.for s.reening, only 1 003 wild acces.ions.with good germination were s.reened agains. brown planthopper(BPH), Nilaparvata lugens.s.?l) under greenhous. conditions. The collection compris.d of acces.ions.from 11 wild s.ecies.and African cultivated rice. The germplas. was.s.reened for BPH following s.andard s.ed box s.reening technique in the greenhous.. As.many as.159 acces.ions.were identified as.res.s.ant during the year 2012 bas.d on one year s.reening. A s.lected s.t of BPH res.s.ant acces.ions.were s.reened again during 2013. Bas.d on the two years.s.reening, s.ven acces.ions.of O. nivara(AA), one acces.ion of O. officinalis.CC), s.ven acces.ions.of O. aus.raliens.s.EE), five acces.ions.of O. punctata(BB and BBCC) and nine acces.ions.of O. latifolia(CCDD) were confirmed to be res.s.ant to BPH. s. far no BPH res.s.ance genes.have been identified and des.gnated from O. nivara and O. punctata, hence thes. may act as.new s.urces.of res.s.ance.

Antixenos.s.and Tolerance of Rice Genotypes.Agains. Brown Planthopper

Nine genotypes.were evaluated under greenhous. conditions.for antixenos.s.and tolerance agains. brown planthopper （BPH, Nilaparvata lugens.s.al）. In antixenos.s.s.udies. proportion of ins.cts.s.ttled on a tes. genotype in relation to the s.s.eptible control TN1 was.recorded, with s.gnificantly lower proportion of nymphs.（55.22%-59.18%）, adult males.（60.33%-60.75%）, and adult females.（80.56%- 79.26%） s.ttled on RP2068-18-3-5 and Ptb33 in relation to thos. on TN1. Bas.d on number of feeding s.tes. the tes. genotypes.were ranked in order from the highes. to the lowes. as.RP2068-18-3-5, Ptb33, MR1523, Rathu Heenati, s.nnas.vappu, ARC10550, MO1, INRC3021 and TNI. The order was.exactly revers. in terms.of fecundity expres.ed as.number of eggs.laid per female. In tolerance s.udies. days.to wilt, functional plant los. index and plant dry weight los. to BPH dry weight produced were recorded. RP2068-18-3-5, Rathu Heenati and Ptb33 performed better than the other tes. genotypes. Thes. res.lts.helped in relative quantification of BPH res.s.ance levels.in the genotypes. RP2068-18-3-5, a new effective s.urce of BPH res.s.ance, can be us.d in res.s.ance breeding after tagging of res.s.ant genes.QTLs.linked to different parameters.of antixenos.s.and tolerance with s.lectable molecular markers.

There is.s.arce information about the effects.of danazol and its.derivatives.at cardiovas.ular level. In addition, to date the cellular s.te and mechanis. of action of danazol at the cardiovas.ular level is.very confus.ng. In order to clarify thos. phenomena in this.s.udy, a danazol derivative was.s.nthes.zed with the objective of evaluating its.activity on perfus.on pres.ure and coronary res.s.ance and comparing this.phenomenon with the effect exerted by danazol. The Langendorff technique was.us.d to meas.re changes.on perfus.on pres.ure and coronary res.s.ance in an is.lated rat heart model in the abs.nce or pres.nce of danazol and its.derivative. Additionally, to characterize the molecular mechanis. involved in the inotropic activity induced by danazol derivative was.evaluated by meas.ring left ventricular pres.ure in the abs.nce or pres.nce of following compounds.flutamide, prazos.n, metoprolol, indomethacin and nifedipine. The res.lts.s.owed that danazol derivative s.gnificantly increas.d the perfus.on pres.ure and coronary res.s.ance in comparis.n with the control conditions.and danazol. Additionally, other data indicate that the danazol derivative increas.s.left ventricular pres.ure in a dos.-dependent manner;nevertheles., this.phenomenon was.s.gnificantly inhibited by flutamide. Thes. data s.gges. that danazol derivative induces.pos.tive inotropic activity through of the activation androgen receptor.
