Seedling potential of trees species along the elevational gradient in temperate hill forest of central Nepal

Regeneration status of tree species along elevation gradient in temperate hill forest was not understood *** research examined the tree diversity and its regeneration patterns along an elevation gradient in temperate hill forest,central *** were collected from 300 sample plots within vertical elevation bands of 10,ranging from 1365 to 2450 m asl.A random sampling method was used for data collection in three seasons,winter,pre-monsoon and post monsoon *** at breast height(DBH)was used to broadly categorize the plant individual into trees,saplings and *** tree species richness ranged from 12 to 25 with density of 350 to 1200 individuals per *** richness of tree and sapling showed statistically significant unimodal pattern,which peaked at *** showed a strong and positive linear correlation with the seedling density(Deviance=0.99,pseedling(10.6%)≤mature(10.9%).Among tested environmental variables,elevation and annual mean rainfall were the most influential factors in the regeneration of tree species.

A dispersion model for the estimation of crosswind integrated concentrations in the surface-based inversion is *** generalized forms of eddy diffusivity with spatial dependence in both horizontal and vertical directions and vertical height-dependent wind speed are *** view of the computational limitation associated with numerical models for Dirac-delta function,the source term is expressed as a limiting case of normal *** accuracy of the employed numerical scheme to solve the resulting partial differential equation with appropriate physically relevant boundary conditions is checked with those obtained from the respective analytical solutions available in literature for the particular forms of eddy diffusivity and wind *** computed from the proposed model are found close to those obtained from analytical *** concentrations obtained from the proposed model are evaluated for the generalized functional forms of eddy diffusivity(Degrazia and Moraes,1992;Degrazia et al.,2001)and diabatic logarithmic profile as well as power-law profile of wind speed with the observations from Hanford(Doran et al.,1984)and Copenhagen(Gryning and Lyck,1984)diffusion experiments in stable and unstable conditions,*** of the cases i.e.,64%and 96%are predicted in factor of two to observations in both stable and unstable conditions,respectively.

Objective:Anoikis is apoptosis that is induced when cells detach from the extracellular matrix and neighboring *** anoikis serves as a regulatory barrier,cancer cells often acquire resistance towards anoikis during tumorigenesis to become ***(miRNAs)are short strand RNA molecules that regulate genes post-transcriptionally by binding to mRNAs and reducing the expression of its target *** study aimed to elucidate the role of a novel miRNA,miR-6744-5 p,in regulating anoikis in breast cancer and identify its target ***:An anoikis resistant variant of the luminal A type breast cancer MCF-7 cell line(MCF-7-AR)was generated by selecting and amplifying surviving cells after repeated exposure to growth in *** RNA microarray analysis identified a list of dysregulated miRNAs from which miR-6744-5 p was chosen for overexpression and knockdown studies in ***,the miRNA was also overexpressed in a triple-negative breast cancer cell line,MDA-MB-231,to evaluate its ability to impair the metastatic potential of breast cancer ***:This study showed that overexpression and knockdown of miR-6744-5 p in MCF-7 increased and decreased anoikis sensitivity,***,overexpression of miR-6744-5 p in MDA-MB-231 increased anoikis and also decreased tumor cell invasion in vitro and in ***,NAT1 enzyme was identified and validated as the direct target of miR-6744-5 ***:This study has proven the ability of miR-6744-5 p to increase anoikis sensitivity in both luminal A and triple negative breast cancer cell lines,highlighting its therapeutic potential in treating breast cancer.

Comparative Multivariate Analysis of Codon and Amino Acid Usage in Three Leishmania Genomes

Multivariate analysis of codon and amino acid usage was performed for three Leishmania species, including L. donovani, L. infantum and L. major. It was revealed that all three species are under mutational bias and translational selection. Lower GC12 and higher GC3s in all three parasites suggests that the ancestral highly expressed genes （HEGs）, compared to lowly expressed genes （LEGs）, might have been rich in AT-content. This also suggests that there must have been a faster rate of evolution under GC-bias in LEGs. It was observed from the esti- mation of synonymous/non-synonymous substitutions in HEGs that the HEG dataset of L. donovani is much closer to L. major evolutionarily. This is also supported by the higher ds value as compared to ds between L. donovani and L. major, suggesting the conservation of synonymous codon positions between these two species and the role of translational selection in shaping the composition of protein-coding genes.

Effect of invasion by Hyptis suaveolens on plant diversity and selected soil properties of a constructed tropical grassland

Aims Hyptis suaveolens(L.)Poit is an important invader of the tropical and sub-tropical regions of the *** our study,it has been inves-tigated that how does the *** invasion regulate plant spe-cies diversity across the seasons in the dry tropical *** hypothesized that a shift in soil inorganic-N availability is caused by invasion,and this shift is integral to access the invasion effect on plant *** The study was performed in experimental plots at the Botanical Garden of the Banaras Hindu University(25°16′3.3″N and 82°59′22.7″E),Varanasi,Uttar Pradesh,*** replicates(each,2×2m)of non-invaded grassland plots(NIG)and five grassland plots invaded with ***(IG)were *** plots were constructed by transplanting indigenous grassland patches from an adjacent native *** the invaded plots,20 indi-viduals of *** were transplanted per *** 1 year of establishment,diversity attributes and soil properties were recorded from these plots in three seasons as per standard *** Findings The results indicated that Hyptis invasion negatively affects plant diversity,with relatively higher impact in rainy season as compared to the winter *** exhibited lower soil mois-ture content and temperature than NIG in rainy season,whereas soil ammonium-N,nitrate-N,total inorganic-N,N mineralization registered higher values for IG than NIG in both rainy and win-ter *** indices were negatively correlated with soil inorganic-N pool and N ***,these indices were positively correlated with microbial biomass carbon(MBC),and the correlation coefficient for this relationship was higher for rainy season as compared to *** richness(r=0.65)and Shannon diversity(r=0.757)were significantly correlated with the ratio of ammonium-N to *** negative effect of invasion by *** on the plant diversity is possibly mediated by the effect of invasion on N min

Performance enhancement of IMC-PID controller design for stable and unstable second-order time delay processes

An IMC-PID controller was proposed for unstable second-order time delay system which shows the characteristics of inverse response(RHP zero). A plot of Ms versus λ was suggested to calculate the suitable tuning parameter λ, which provides a trade-off between performance and robustness. Six different forms of process models were selected from literature to show the applicability of the present method. Performance of controller was calculated by ITAE and total variation TV and compared with recently published tuning rules. Undesirable overshoot was removed by using a set-point weighting parameter. Robustness was tested by introducing a perturbation into the various model parameters and closed-loop results show that the designed controller is robust in the case of model uncertainty. The proposed method shows an overall better closed-loop response as compared to other recently reported methods.
