Uniaxial compression tests were conducted to characterize the main compressive performance of ultra high toughness cementitious composite （UHTCC） in terms of strength and toughness and to obtain its stress-strain relationships. The compressive strength investigated ranges from 30 MPa to 60 MPa. Complete stress-strain curves were directly obtained, and the strength indexes, including uniaxial compressive strength, compressive strain at peak stress, elastic modulus and Poisson＇s ratio, were calculated. The comparisons between UHTCC and matrix were also carried out to understand the fiber effect on the compressive strength indexes. Three dimensionless toughness indexes were calculated, which either represent its relative improvement in energy absorption capacity because of fiber addition or provide an indication of its behavior relative to a rigid-plastic material. Moreover, two new toughness indexes, which were named as post-crack deformation energy and equivalent compressive strength, were proposed and calculated with the aim at linking up the compressive toughness of UHTCC with the existing design concept of concrete. The failure mode was also given. The study production provides material characteristics for the practical engineering application of UHTCC.

The large eddy simulation （LES） approach implemented in the KIVA-3V code and based on one-equation sub-grid turbulent kinetic energy model are employed for numerical computation of diesel sprays in a constant volume vessel and in a Caterpillar 3400 series diesel engine. Computational results are compared with those obtained by an RANS （RNG k-e） model as well as with experimental data. The sensitivity of the LES results to mesh resolution is also discussed. The results show that LES generally provides flow and spray characteristics in better agreement with experimental data than RANS; and that small-scale random vortical structures of the in-cylinder turbulent spray field can be captured by LES. Furthermore, the penetrations of fuel droplets and vapors calculated by LES are larger than the RANS result, and the sub-grid turbulent kinetic energy and sub-grid turbulent viscosity provided by the LES model are evidently less than those calculated by the RANS model. Finally, it is found that the initial swirl significantly affects the spray penetration and the distribution of fuel vapor within the combustion chamber.

An Earthquake ML=6.8 occurred on October 23, 2004 in Chuetsu area of Niigata County in Japan, which caused 40 people dead, more than 4500 people injured and 1000000 people homeless; nearly 140000 buildings were damaged or collapsed. The estated total loss of this earthquake was about 3000 billions Yen. In this paper, we investigate the Chuetsu earthquake damage from different aspects, including the seismic outline, seismicity, intensity distribution, wave feature, damage analyses, and economic losses. Finally, experiences and lessons from the earthquake damage are given. The content in this paper may be a reference for structural seismic design and code modification.

This paper develops a third order diffraction theory for the third order wave loads. Our method has been implemented for bodies of revolution with vertical axes, but the theory is also available for arbitrary bodies. Numerical tests were made to validate the numerical code by comparing the third order force with some published ones on a uniform cylinder. The method has also been used to compute the third order moments on a uniform cylinder and third order forces and moments on a truncated cylinder.

The variations of current, salt intrusion and vertical stratification under different conditions of river flow and wind in the Oujiang River Estuary （ORE） were investigated in this article using the Environmental Fluid Dynamics code （EFDC）. The model was verified against water level variation, velocity, and salinity variations in June 2005. The simulation results agreed well with measured data. Six sensitivity tests were conducted for different conditions of river flow and wind specified in the model. Model results show that salinity intrudes further upstream under scenarios with low flow and downriver local wind conditions. In contrast, the responses of salinity stratification to different environmental forcing functions were different in different portions of the estuary. Salinity stratification was enhanced under high flow condition. Model results also show that wind is not crucial to the salt intrusion and salinity stratification in the ORE.

Microwave plasma at atmospheric pressure was investigated experimentally for CF *** mechanism of CF decomposition assisting with O in plasma was investigated by emission spectra *** results indicated that destruction and removal efficiencies (DRE) of CF increased firstly and then decreased with increasing of O *** was up to 83.6%using 0.4kW of microwave power,the initial concentration of CF and O was 2000ml/m and 1000ml/m,*** results of emission spectra analysis indicated CF decomposition was highly depended on the electron collision in plasma, 0 radicals was the assistance in later reaction,to further oxidize CF to *** achieving the best DRE of CF with O as addictive gas,the most important key factor was to have optimum concentration of O in inlet *** or less O concentration was both unsuitable for CF decomposition

试验对不同锈蚀程度的钢筋混凝土柱使用不同的加固方法进行抗震加固,研究碳纤维布包裹与增大混凝土截面复合加固对锈蚀钢筋混凝土柱的抗震性能影响,考虑轴压比、碳纤维布用量、锈蚀量和加固钢筋用量等因素对加固效果的影响,并编制程序对复合加固锈蚀柱的骨架曲线进行数值模拟,对轴压比、碳纤维布用量、锈蚀量和加固钢筋用量对加固效果的影响进行分析。研究表明,碳纤维布包裹与增大混凝土截面复合加固锈蚀钢筋混凝土构件是一种非常有效的方法,能改善试件的延性,提高加固试件的极限承载力和耗能能力,与仅用增大截面加固的试件相比,复合加固试件抗震性能改善非常明显。
