Polymorphisms of the oxidant enzymes glutathione S-transferase and glutathione reductase and their association with resistance of Plasmodium falciparum isolates to antimalarial drugs

Objective:To investigate the association between amplification of the two regulatory genes controlling glutathione(GSH) levels,glutathione reductase(PfGR) and glutathione S-transferase (PfGST) genes and sensitivity of Plasmodium falciparum(***) isolates collected from different malaria endemic areas of Thailand to standard antimalarial ***:A total of 70 *** isolates were collected from endemic areas of multi-drug resistance (Tak,Chantaburi and Ranong Provinces) during the year *** in vitro assessment of antimalarial activity of *** clones(K1- and Dd2 chloroquine resistant and 3D7- chloroquine sensitive) and isolates to chloroquine,quinine,mefloquine and arteusnate was performed based on SYBR Green modified ***:68(97.14%),11(15.71%) and 28(40%) isolates respectively were classified as chloroquine-,quinine- and mefloquine-resistant isolates. With this limited number of *** isolates included in the analysis,no significant association between amplification of PfGST gene and sensitivity of the parasite to chloroquine, quinine,mefloquine and quinine was *** on PCR analysis,Dd2,Kl and 3D7 clones all contained only one copy of the PfGST *** isolates(70) also carried only one copy number of PfGST *** appears to be an association between amplification of PfGR gene and chloroquine *** 3D7 and Dd2 clones were found to carry only one PfGR gene copy, whereas the K1 clone carried two gene ***:Chloroquine resistance is likely to be a consequence of multi-factors and enzymes in the GSH system may be partly involved. Larger number of parasite isolates are required to increase power of the hypothesis testing in order to confirm the involvement of both genes as well as other genes implicated in glutathione metabolism in conferring chloroquine resistance.

Biscuits: a systematic review and meta-analysis of improving the nutritional quality and health benefits

Biscuits are ready-to-eat foods that are traditionally prepared mainly with wheat flour,fat,and ***,biscuits’technologies have been rapidly developed to improve their nutritional *** study aimed to determine the strategies of improving the nutritional quality of biscuits and the potential health benefits associated with them.A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted,including articles on biscuits improved by technological processes and raw materials *** were searched from Google Scholar,PubMed,Scopus,and Web of Science published between 1997 and 2020,in English and *** meta-analysis was performed using RStudio software,version 4.0.4 to classify the *** hundred and seven eligible articles were ***,pea,potato,sorghum,buckwheat,and flaxseed flours were respectively the most found substitutes to wheat *** the meta-analysis shown that the copra and foxtail millet biscuit fortified with amaranth,the wheat biscuits fortified with okra,and rice biscuits fortified with soybeans had a high protein *** biscuits therefore have a potential to be used as complementary *** substitution of sugar and fat by several substitutes lead to a decrease in carbohydrates,fat,and energy *** has also brought about an increase in other nutrients such as dietary fiber,proteins/amino acids,fatty acids,and phenolic *** the sugar and fat substitutes,stevia and inulin were respectively the most *** the use of biscuits in clinical trials,they were mainly used for addressing micronutrient deficiency and for weight loss.

Liquid injectivity in a SAG foam process:Effect of permeability

Foam is utilized in enhanced oil recovery and CO_(2) ***-alternating-gas(SAG)is a preferred approach for placing foam into reservoirs,due to it enhances gas injection and minimizes corrosion in *** previous studies with similar permeability cores show that during SAG injection,several banks occupy the area near the well where fluid exhibits distinct ***,underground reservoirs are heterogeneous,often *** is crucial to understand the effect of permeability on fluid behaviour and injectivity in a SAG *** this work,coreflood experiments are conducted in cores with permeabilities ranging from 16 to 2300 *** observe the same sequence of banks in cores with different ***,the speed at which banks propagate and their overall mobility can vary depending on *** higher permeabilities,the gas-dissolution bank and the forced-imbibition bank progress more rapidly during liquid *** total mobilities of both banks decrease with *** utilizing a bank-propagation model,we scale up our experimental findings and compare them to results obtained using the Peaceman *** findings reveal that the liquid injectivity in a SAG foam process is misestimated by conventional simulators based on the Peaceman *** lower the formation permeability,the greater the error.

The Physical Properties and Photocatalytic Activity of CulTEA Doped TiO2-Nanoparticles Prepared by the Sol-Gel Process

Cu/TEA-doped TiO2 nanoparticles were prepared by the sol-gel process. Titanium （IV） isoproxide, copper （II） nitrate trihydrate and triethanolamine were used as precursors and calcined at a temperature of 400℃ for 2 h with a heating rate of 10℃/min to produce powders. Different interstitial amounts of TEA were added in the range of 0 mol% to 15 mol% of TiO2. The X-ray diffractrometer patterns show the TiO2 nanocomposites have a high anatase phase. It was also apparent that doped TEA has an effect on the crystallite size of TiO2 composite nanoparticles. The morphology of the composite powders was characterized by scanning electron microscope. The photocatalytic activity of Cu/TEA-doped TiO2 nanoparticles was evaluated through the degradation of methylene blue under UV irradiation. The results showed that 1 mol% TEA of TiO2 nanocomposites exhibited high photocatalytic activity and a small crystallite size.

This project aims to calculate carbon emission level for construction activity in Malaysia by developing a carbon footprint calculator to determine the amount of carbon emission per square feet of a building in unit of tonne. The carbon emission level can be reduced through better selection and combination of construction materials. The case-based reasoning functionality embedded in the system provides user options to review past similar projects and reuse the solution for the new project to be constructed.
