Nanofibrillar collagen scaffolds for lymphedema treatment:current applications and future directions

Aim:Biosynthetic scaffolds represent cutting-edge therapeutic efforts for secondary *** particular,nanofibrillar collagen scaffolds have shown efficacy in both preclinical and clinical contexts,and there has been growing interest in these scaffolds in recent *** study systematically reviewed the current literature on nanofibrillar collagen scaffolds for lymphedema treatment to synthesize findings and highlight areas for further ***:This was a systematic scoping review of the literature on nanofibrillar collagen scaffolds for lymphedema ***:Upon review of the literature,32 relevant articles were identified,of which seven articles specifically investigating nanofibrillar collagen scaffolds were selected for *** these articles,three investigated scaffold placement in small or large animal models,while four were clinical investigations ranging from case reports to retrospective cohort *** all studies,scaffold implantation was associated with significant improvement in lymphedema symptoms compared to untreated controls,especially when used in combination with physiologic microsurgical procedures such as vascularized lymph node ***,even when used alone or in combination with lymph node fragments,subcutaneous placement of these scaffolds improved lymphedema ***,in a rodent model of lymphedema,scaffold placement at the time of lymph node harvest forestalled the development of lymphedema,highlighting the preventative capacity of these scaffolds as ***:Nanofibrillar collagen scaffolds have been demonstrated to effectively treat and/or prevent secondary lymphedema in both preclinical and clinical ***,these scaffolds represent a promising intersection of tissue engineering and lymphedema therapy,and further clinical investigation is warranted.

Thermoluminescence study of rare earth ion (Dy^(3+)) doped LiF:Mg crystals grown by EFG technique

This work describes investigation of radiation dosimetry characteristics of magnesium （Mg） doped lithium fluoride （LiF） crystals co-doped with different concentrations of dysprosium （Dy）. These crystals were grown by edge defined film fed crystal growth （EFG） tech- nique. Thermoluminescence （TL） measurements were made on as grown （AG） and annealed （AN） crystals after they were irradiated with a gamma dose of 15 Gy. The influence and advantage of optimized Dy^3＋ concentration in enhancing the thermoluminescence （TL） properties of LiF：Mg samples were discussed. The normalized peak height of the annealed crystals was nearly 3 times that of the as grown crystals for the particular concentration samples irradiated with Co6~ gamma source showed linearity up to 10 Gy. Thermoluminescence signal observed over a period of one month showed negligible fading. Thermoluminescence glow curve structure of optimized phosphor remained stable for higher doses of gamma rays of 103 Gy. Glow curve was analyzed using computer glow curve deconvolution （CGCD） method and trapping parame- ters were calculated.

screening of stimulatory effects of dietary risk factors on mouse intestinal cell kinetics

AIM: Although epidemiological and experimental studies validate influence of genetic, environmental and dietary factors in the causation of various types of cancers including colon, results from all these sources are inconclusive. Hypothesizing that high fat diet and obesity are among the major predisposing factors in the incidence of colon cancer, we evaluated the role of diet constituted with food material derived from a tropical plant, Tamarindus indica Linn (TI). METHODs: A two part randomized double-blind study was conducted employing inbred swiss albino mice from a single generation for the whole investigation. One day-old neonates (n=12) were subcutaneously administered with monosodium glutamate (MsG) to induce obesity (OB). At weaning these animals were maintained on modified AIN-76 diet supplemented with 10% TI and 10% fat bolus (w/w,TIFB) for 8 wk. subsequently, in the second part of study, four groups of animals belonging to the same generation, age and gender (n=12 per group), were maintained on: AIN-76 control diet (CD); AIN-76 mixed with 10% TI extract (TI); and, mixed with 10% TI and 10% FB (TIFB) for 8 wk, to determine intestinal crypt cell proliferation, functionally-specific enzyme activities, fermentation profile, and energy preferences. REsULTs: We observed a significant increase in the crypt cell production rate in distal colonic segment of experimental animals when compared with the controls. This segment also contained significantly low butyrate levels compared to control and TIFB groups. All the experimental groups showed a gross decrease in the enzyme activities viz., succinate dehydrogenase, acid-galactosidase and dipeptidyl amino peptidase IV demonstrating pathological stress caused by the test regimens, and an altered metabolic flux in the cellular environment. synthesis and characterization of rare earth metal doped tungsten trioxide photocatalyst for degradation of Rhodamine B dye

Nowadays,it is concern for researchers that due to high recombination rate of photogenerated charge carriers in tungsten trioxide(WO_(3)) nanoparticles,the future applications are limited in the field of *** we attempt to synthesize tungsten trioxide nanoparticles with different doping concentrations of lanthanum i.e.2 wt%,4 wt%,6 wt% and 8 wt%.The synthesized samples were characterized by using various characterization techniques:X-ray diffraction(XRD),Raman spectroscopy,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),photoluminescence spectra(PL),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),energy dispersive X-ray(EDX) and UV-Vis ***_(3) retains its monoclinic structure even after doping which was confirmed by XRD *** helps to descry functional groups present in the *** size of nanoparticles was calculated by using *** confirms the absence of any impurity in the synthesized *** spectroscopy confirms the presence of a large number of imperfections induced in the lattice of WO_(3).The rate of recombination was analyzed by photoluminescence(PL) spectroscopy and is minimum in 4 wt% doping of *** optical bandgap was calculated using UV-Vis spectroscopy and becomes narrow along with the doping ***,it is found that doping of La in WO_(3) has considerably ameliorate the photocatalytic activity by reducing rate of recombination due to the trapping of electrons by defects introduced in the *** decolorization of Rhodamine B(RhB) dye was performed and the values of c/c_0 and rate constant(k) confirm that the 4 wt% doping shows maximum degradation *** kinetic study for photodegradation of Rhodamine B was done by using various kinetic models and results show that the reaction follows first order kinetics very ***,optimum doping of lanthanum increases the decolorization ability of WO_(3) towards RhB dye.

Phytoremediation is a promising approach for reclamation of salt-affected *** is the most commonly used process,which exploits plants to absorb,immobilize,and accumulate salt in their *** this study,halotolerant plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria(PGPR)were isolated from the rhizosphere of wild grasses growing naturally in salt-affected areas of Lucknow,Uttar Pradesh(India)and were tested for their efficacies of salt-tolerance and plant growth-promoting(PGP)*** on 16s rRNA sequences,the most efficient halotolerant isolates possessing PGP traits were identified as Pseudomonas plecoglossicida(KM 233646),Acinetobacter calcoaceticus(KM 233647),Bacillus flexus(KM 233648),and Bacillus safensis(KM 233652).Application of these isolates as bio-inoculants significantly(Psed the growth and bacoside A yield of a medicinal plant,Bacopa monnieri(L.)Nash,grown on natural salt-affected *** phytoremediation of salt-affected soil was evident by the substantial increase in shoot Na^+:K^+ratio of bio-inoculant-treated *** compared to un-inoculated control plants,the soil physico-chemical properties of bio-inoculant-treated plants were *** shoot and root biomass(fresh and dry weights),soil enzymes,and soil nutrient parameters showed significant positive correlations with the shoot Na+:K+***,the halotolerant PGPR screened in this study could be useful for the reclamation of saline soils concomitant with improved plant growth and bacoside A yield.
