Highly porous carbon, both unmodified and hexamine-coated on the pore surfaces, is tested at high working voltages in organic electrolyte for supercapacitors in order to enhance the energy density and power ***–gel processing allows for excellent control of the porous structure and chemical composition of carbon,resulting in a material with high surface area and a low level of impurities. This porous carbon can be modified using a simple solution-based method to enhance capacitance. Increasing the working voltage from 2.0 to 3.0 v significantly improves performance for both unmodified and hexamine-coated carbon. The energy density and power density increase at higher working voltage, and under certain conditions, the capacitance increases as *** stability is also investigated, with hexamine-coated carbon retaining more of its initial capacitance than unmodified carbon at all working voltages.

BACKGROUND Thumb replantation following complete traumatic avulsion requires complex techniques to restore function,especially in cases of avulsion at the level of the metacarpophalangeal joint(MCP I)and avulsion of the flexor pollicis longus(FPL)at the musculotendinous *** treatments include direct tendon suture or tendon transfer,most commonly from the ring *** optimize function and avoid donor finger complications,we performed thumb replantation with flexion restoration using brachioradialis(BR)tendon transfer with palmaris longus(PL)tendon *** SUMMARY A 20-year-old left-handed male was admitted for a complete traumatic left thumb amputation following an accident while sliding from the top of a *** patient presented with skin and bone avulsion at the MCP I,avulsion of the FPL tendon at the musculotendinous junction(zone 5),avulsion of the extensor pollicis longus tendon(zone T3),and avulsion of the thumb’s collateral arteries and *** patient was treated with two stage thumb *** first intervention consisted of thumb replantation with MCP I arthrodesis,resection of avulsed FPL tendon and implantation of a silicone tendon *** second intervention consisted of PL tendon graft and BR tendon ***-up at 10 months showed good outcomes with active interphalangeal flexion of 70°,grip strength of 45 kg,key pinch strength of 15 kg and two-point discrimination threshold of 4 *** Flexion restoration after complete thumb amputation with FPL avulsion at the musculotendinous junction can be achieved using BR tendon transfer with PL tendon graft.

Decorative wood panels containing pouches of bio-based phase changing materials(PCMs) were prepared. Three different PCM mixtures were used: a blend of capric and lauric acids as well as two commercial products, Puretemp?20 and Puretemp?23(Puretemp). The panels consist of engraved Medium Density Fiberboard(MDF) filled with a plastic pouch filled with PCM. High density fiberboard(HDF) was used on top of the panels to enclose the PCM pouches. PCM mixtures were first tested by differential scanning calorimetry(DSC). Phase change temperature and total heat storage of the panels were measured for both fusion and solidification with a Dynamic Heat-Flow Meter Apparatus(DHFMA). DSC and DHFMA results were compared, allowing a better understanding of results gathered from these two techniques. DSC calibration has been revealed important when assessing PCMs. The panels present a phase change temperature and a latent heat storage suitable for buildings applications. The panel made with Puretemp?23 presented the highest energy, with 57.1 J g^(-1). Thermal cycling was conducted on the panels to investigate thermal reliability, which revealed small modifications of thermal properties for two products. For all cases, latent heat was found stable. Hygro-mechanical behavior of the panels was also evaluated as these where designed to be esthetic decorative panels. This study exposes the potential of a new type of wood-based panels loaded with PCM for thermal energy storage and brings overall knowledge about PCM products thermal characterization.

The walnut-fruit forests （Juglans regia L.） in southern Kyrgyzstan are considered to be biodiversity hotspots and of considerable economic and ecological importance to local populations. The fruiting ability and stability of these forests are, however, decreasing because of infrequent silvicultural interventions and non-existent natural regeneration. Continuous inventories and walnut harvest measurements were carded out on 18 trial and control plots over the course of i3 year. Results showed that i） thinning had a positive influence on diameter at breast height （dbh） increase, ii） dbh growth and crown area increases are strongly and positively correlated, iii） large crowns enhanced the production of fruits, and iv） temperature conditions had a major influence on the production of fruits. The above-mentioned points are particularly relevant for young plantations but are also valid for relatively old plantations （〉 50 years）. We conclude that regular thinning substantially improves diameter growth, fruit production and ability of trees to withstand wind and snow damage in both young stands and in older walnut-fruit forests.

Mitochondrial ATP synthase has been recently detected at the surface of different cell types, where it is a high affinity receptor for apoA-I, the major protein component in high density lipoproteins (HDL). Cell surface ATP synthase (namely ecto-F1-ATPase) expression is related to different biological effects, such as regulation of HDL uptake by hepatocytes, endothelial cell proliferation or antitumor activity of vγ9/vδ2 T lymphocytes. This paper reviews the recently discovered functions and regulations of ecto-F1-ATPase. Particularly, the role of the F1-ATPase pathway(s) in HDL-cholesterol uptake and apoA-Imediated endothelial protection suggests its potential importance in reverse cholesterol transport and its regulation might represent a potential therapeutic target for HDL-related therapy for cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, it is timely for us to better understand how this ecto-enzyme and downstream pathways are regulated and to develop pharmacologic interventions.

vascular-targeted photodynamic therapy(vTP)using padeliporfin is currently assessed as a low-risk prostate cancer(LRPCa)*** aim of this study was to assess erectile function outcomes of vTP for LRPCa *** prospectively included all patients treated with vTP for *** primary endpoint was the post-treatment International Index of Erectile Function score(IIEF5 score)evolution(at 6 months,12 months,and then every year for 5 years).Secondary endpoints were the need of erectile dysfunction(ED)treatment and its ***-two men were *** median follow-up was 68(range:6-89)*** was a 3-point significant decrease in the median IIEF5 score between baseline and at 6 months post-vTP(23[range:1-25]vs 20[range:1-25],P=0.005).There was a 1-point decrease at 1 year and 2 years post-vTP compared to baseline(22[range:2-25]and 22[range:0-25],Pven(32.9%)patients received ED treatment:phosphodiesterase type-5 inhibitors(PDEI5;n=18),intracavernous injections(ICI;n=9),and intra-urethral gel(n=1).The median IIEF5 score statistically significantly increased after ED treatment(7[range:0-24]vs 21[range:1-25],PvTP and among them,13 needed ED treatment post-vTP with a success rate of 69.2%.vTP induced minimal changes in erectile function with a 3-point and a 1-point reduction in the IIEF5 score at 6 months and at 1 year,*** required,ED treatment was efficient.
