BACKGROUND Anaplastic thyroid cancer(ATC)is an aggressive,rare malignancy associated with rapid growth and metastasis,and a very poor *** investigated the clinical characteristics,survival outcomes and independent prognostic factors associated with anaplastic thyroid *** To assess to what extent the interaction between age and tumor stage affects *** A total of 622 patients diagnosed with anaplastic thyroid cancer,between 2010 and 2017 were enrolled in our study by retrieving data from the Surveillance,Epidemiology and End Results(SEER)*** analyzed demographics,clinical characteristics,overall mortality(OM)and cancer specific mortality(CSM)of *** with a P value<0.1 were incorporated into the multivariate cox model to determine the independent prognostic ***,we analyzed the interaction between age and tumor stage on *** In the multivariate analyses,the divorced/separated population had a lower OM[hazard ratio(HR)=0.63,95%CI:0.42-0.94,P<0.05]and CSM(HR=0.61,95%CI:0.40-0.92,P<0.05).OM was higher in tumors with direct extension only(HR=6.26,95%CI:1.29-30.42,P<0.05)and tumors with distant spread(HR=5.73,95%CI:1.34-24.51,P<0.05).CSM was also higher in tumors with direct extension(HR=5.05,95%CI:1.05-24.19,P<0.05)and tumors with distant spread(HR=4.57,95%CI:1.08-19.29,P<0.05).Mortality was not adversely affected by lymph node *** was lower in patients who received radiation(HR=0.66,95%CI:0.53-0.83,P<0.01),chemotherapy(HR=0.63,95%CI:0.50-0.79,P<0.01)or surgery(HR=0.53,95%CI:0.43-0.66,P<0.01).CSM was also lower in patient who received radiation(HR=0.64,95%CI:0.51-0.81,P<0.01),chemotherapy(HR=0.62,95%CI:0.50-0.78,P<0.01)or surgery(HR=0.51,95%CI:0.41-0.63,P<0.01).There was no significant interaction between age and tumor stage that affected *** In this large US SEER database retrospective study,we found the mortality to be higher in advanced stage tumors with direct extensi

亚热带森林是我国分布面积最大的森林类型,在调控全球气候变化和维持大气碳平衡中具有重要作用。土壤通过呼吸作用排放的碳是大气CO_(2)的主要来源,土壤碳库的细微变化也会显著影响大气CO_(2)的浓度,因此目前亚热带森林土壤碳储量的大小及动态变化特征受到广泛关注。云南哀牢山是我国重要的亚热带森林分布区。本研究依托云南哀牢山森林生态系统国家野外科学观测研究站,利用全自动多通道观测系统开展了亚热带常绿阔叶林土壤呼吸的连续测定,经过严格的数据质量控制和评估,将2010-2014年的土壤呼吸的监测数据收集与整理,包括土壤5 cm温度(Ts)、土壤10 cm含水量(SWC)和土壤呼吸(Rs),并形成日、月和年尺度三类数据集。本数据集对于揭示气候变化对亚热带常绿阔叶林土壤生态过程的影响、正确评估土壤有机碳排放和森林生态系统管理具有重要意义,也为进一步研究气候变暖等全球变化对土壤呼吸组分尤其是土壤有机碳排放的影响提供经验和理论基础。

Emission of particulate and gaseous pollutants from household laser processing machine

Indoor air quality(IAQ) directly affects the health of occupants. Household manufacturing equipment(HME) used for hobbies or educational purposes is a new and unexplored source of air pollution. In this study, we evaluated the characteristics of particulate and gaseous pollutants produced by a household laser processing equipment(HLPE). Various target materials were tested using a commercial HLPE under various operating conditions of laser power and sheath air flow rate. The mode diameters of the emitted particles gradually decreased as laser power increased, while the particle number concentration(PNC) and particle emission rate(PER) increased. In addition, as the sheath air flow rate quadrupled from 10 to 40 L/min, the mode diameter of the emitted particles decreased by nearly 25%, but the effect on the PNC was insignificant. When the laser induced the target materials at 53 m W, the mode diameters of particles were 2.0 × 10^(4) particles/cm^(3). Particularly, analyses of sampled aerosols indicated that harmful substances such as sulfur and barium were present in particles emitted from leather. The carcinogenic gaseous pollutants such as acrylonitrile, acetaldehyde, 1,3-butadiene, benzene, and C 8 aromatics(ethylbenzene) were emitted from all target materials. In an actual indoor environment, the PNC of inhalable ultrafine particles(UFPs) was > 5 × 10^(4) particles/cm^(3) during 30 min of HLPE operation. Our results suggest that more meticulous control methods are needed, including the use of less harmful target materials along with filters or adsorbents that prevent emission of pollutants.

Litsea,a non-monophyletic group of the tribe Laureae(Lauraceae),plays important roles in the tropical and subtropical forests of Asia,Australia,Central and North America,and the islands of the ***,intergeneric relationships between Litsea and Laurus,Lindera,Parasassafras and Sinosassafras of the tribe Laureae remain *** this study,we present phylogenetic analyses of seven newly sequenced Litsea plastomes,together with 47 Laureae plastomes obtained from public databases,representing six genera of the *** results highlight two highly supported monophyletic groups of Litsea *** is composed of 16 Litsea taxa and two Lindera *** 18 plastomes of these taxa were further compared for their gene structure,codon usage,contraction and expansion of inverted repeats,sequence repeats,divergence hotspots,and gene *** complete plastome size of newly sequenced taxa varied between 152,377 bp(Litsea auriculata)and 154,117 bp(Litsea pierrei).Seven of the 16 Litsea plastomes have a pair of insertions in the IRa(trnL-trnH)and IRb(ycf2)*** 18 plastomes of Litsea and Lindera taxa exhibit similar gene features,codon usage,oligonucleotide repeats,and inverted repeat *** codons with the highest frequency among these taxa favored A/T endings and each of these plastomes had nine divergence hotspots,which are located in the same *** also identified six protein coding genes(accD,ndhJ,rbcL,rpoC2,ycf1 and ycf2)under positive selection in Litsea;these genes may play important roles in adaptation of Litsea species to various environments.

Myanmar is one of the most biodiverse countries in the Asia-Pacific region due to a wide range of climatic and environmental *** diversity in Myanmar is largely unknown,resulting in a lack of comprehensive conservation *** developed a database of higher plants in Myanmar derived from herbarium specimens and literature sources,and analyzed patterns of diversity inventories and collection inconsistencies,aiming to provide a baseline floristic data of Myanmar and act as a guide for future research *** collected 1,329,354 records of 16,218 *** show that the collection densities at the township level was variable,with 5% of townships having no floristic *** ecoregion had an average collection density of greater than 1 specimen/km2and the lowest collection density was found in the Kayah-Karen Montane Rainforests,which covered 8% of Myanmar’s total *** highest sampling densities were found in Mandalay Region,Chin State,and Yangon *** floristic collections over the past three centuries,knowledge of the distribution of the vast majority of plant taxa remained limited,particularly for gymnosperms,pteridophytes,and *** botanical surveys and further analyses are needed to better describe Myanmar’s floristic *** important strategy to promote knowledge of the biodiversity patterns in Myanmar is to improve the collection and digitalization of specimens and to strengthen cooperation among countries.

The Research of Independent Knowledge Based Mechanical Design

Most of KBE systems applied by previous researchers are dependent on some CAD software, which makes knowledge hard to be reused to other CAD software. Independent knowledge based system is independent of CAD software; therefore knowledge can be reused freely. This paper describes independent knowledge based system for mechanical design. A detailed discussion about typical design is put forward including design process implementation based on knowledge engineering, independent knowledge based design architecture. The main principal of knowledge driven engineering is explained. The implementation of KBE on the design of worm reducer is studied as a case. Independent knowledge based reducer design system is realized. The usage of independent knowledge based system makes KBE system work independent of CAD software, which enhances their portability and fertilizes the collaborative work of heterogeneous CAD systems.

Seismic Performance Evaluation of Improved Jet Grouted Grid Form with Horizontal Slab in Liquefaction Mitigation

A chain event of the 2016 Kumamoto earthquakes caused considerable geotechnical damage related to liquefaction in many places around Kumamoto plain. Many low-rise houses and traditional Japanese style houses, which were constructed on shallow foundation, suffered differential settlement and tilting due to liquefaction. To mitigate the building damages due to the liquefaction, a new countermeasure method of jet grout grid form with a horizontal slab is introduced in this study. The effectiveness of the proposed technique was evaluated through physical modelling and numerical modelling. As a part of the physical modelling, a set of 1 g shaking table tests for unimproved case and improved case were performed, in which the mitigation effects of the grid form with a horizontal reinforcing slab were examined based on the acceleration, excess pore water pressure ratio as well as ground settlement. Influence of Different Plant Materials in Combination with Chicken Manure on Soil Carbon and Nitrogen Contents and Vegetable Yield

The use of plant materials as soil amendments is an uncommon practice amongst major farming communities in Ghana, although it is necessary for soil fertility improvement. An examination of the effects of soil amendments is necessary to encourage the use of under-utilized organic resources in Ghana. Thus, a field experiment was conducted using 8 different tropical plant materials mixed with chicken manure as soil amendments for growth of tomato as a test crop. The plant materials included Leucaena leueocephala, Centrosema pubescens, Sesbania sesban, Gliricidia sepium, Mucuna pruriens, Pueraria phaseoloides, Azadirachta indiea, and Theo- broma cacao. There were two other treatments： one with equivalent amounts of chemical fertilizers and the other with no-fertilizer input （control）. Plant materials were mixed with chicken manure to obtain a uniform carbon-to-nitrogen （C：N） ratio of 5：1. Except the no-fertilizer control, all treatments received the same amount of nitrogen （N）. To clarify the decomposition pattern of the plant materials in soil, an incubation experiment was conducted using only the plant materials before the field experiment. The Glirieidia treatment released significantly more mineral N than the other plant materials in the incubation experiment. However, the tomato fruit yield was not enhanced in the Gliricidia treatment in the field experiment. The known quality parameters of the tested plant materials, such as total N, total carbon （C）, C：N ratio, and total polyphenols, had minimal effects on their mineralization dynamics. Azadirachta showed the best synergistic effect with chicken manure through significantly increasing soil microbial biomass and fruit yield of tomato. This result provides insights into the possible adoption of Azadirachta in combination with chicken manure as a soil amendment in small-scale agricultural holdings.

Background:Myanmar lies in the Greater Mekong sub-region of South-East Asia faced with the challenge of emerging resistance to artemisinin combination therapies(ACT).Migrant populations are more likely than others to spread ACT resistance.A vital intervention to reduce malaria transmission,resistance spread and eliminate malaria is the use of bed *** seasonal and stable migrants in an artemisinin resistance containment region of Myanmar,we compared a)their household characteristics,b)contact with health workers and information material,and c)household knowledge,access and utilization of bed ***:Secondary data from community-based surveys on 2484 migrant workers(2013 and 2014,Bago Region)were analyzed of which 37%were seasonal *** net access and utilization were assessed using a)availability of at least one bed net per household,and b)one bed net per two persons,and c)proportion of household members who slept under abed net during the previous night(Indicator targets=100%).Results:Over 70%of all migrants were from unstable work settings with short transitory *** household size was five(range 1-25)and almost half of all households had children under-five *** 10%of migrants were night-time *** than 40%of households had contact with health workers and less than 30%had exposure to information education and communication(IEC)materials,the latter being significantly lower among seasonal *** 70%of households were aware of the importance of insecticide-treated bed-nets/long-lasting insecticidal nets(ITNs/LLINs),but knowledge on insecticide impregnation and retreatment of ITNs was poor(<10%).Although over 95%of households had access to at least one bed net,the number with one bed net per two persons was grossly inadequate(13%for stable migrants and 9%for seasonal migrants,P=0.001).About half of all household members slept under a bed net during the previous ***:This study reveals important short-fa
