Xanthine oxidase inhibitors from Archidendron clypearia(Jack.) I.C. Nielsen: Results from systematic screening of Vietnamese medicinal plants

Objective: To screen Vietnamese medicinal plants for xanthine oxidase(XO) inhibitory activity and to isolate XO inhibitor(s) from the most active plant. Methods: The plants materials were extracted by methanol. The active plant materials were fractionated using different organic solvents, including n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and n-butanol. Bioassay-guided fractionation and column chromatography were used to isolate compounds. The compounds structures were elucidated by analysis of spectroscopic data, including IR, MS, and NMR. Results: Three hundreds and eleven methanol extracts(CME) belonging to 301 Vietnamese herbs were screened for XO inhibitory activity. Among these plants, 57 extracts displayed XO inhibitory activity at 100 μg/m L with inhibition rates of over 50%. The extracts of Archidendron clypearia, Smilax poilanei, Linociera ramiflora and Passiflora foetida exhibited the greatest potency with IC_(50) values below 30 μg/m L. Chemical study performed on the extract of Archidendron clypearia resulted in the isolation of six compounds, including 1-octacosanol, docosenoic acid, daucosterol, methyl gallate, quercitrin and(-)-7-O-galloyltricetiflavan. The compound(-)-7-O-galloyltricetiflavan showed the most potent XO inhibitory activity with an IC_(50) value of 25.5 μmol/L. Conclusions: From this investigation, four Vietnamese medicinal plants were identified to have XO inhibitory effects with IC_(50) values of the methanol extracts below 30 μg/m L. Compound(-)-7-O-galloyltricetiflavan was identified as an XO inhibitor from Archidendron clypearia with IC_(50) value of 25.5 μmol/L.

Land use type affects the physicochemical properties of *** value of OM and TN is high in acacia *** acidity of soil is considered a serious constraint for *** cash crops are acacia,cassava,banana,rice and *** fertility is affected by land-use types and land management,which exacerbates soil erosion and various other forms of soil degradation in the mountainous regions of *** study was conducted in A Luoi District,Thua thien Hue,Vietnam to identify the effects of land-use types on specific soil physicochemical characteristics related to soil *** physicochemical properties,such as organic matter(OM),total nitrogen(TN),total phosphorous(TP),and K+were significantly affected by land-use *** results showed that the soils were sandy in rice but clay loam for acacia and *** mean bulk density value of acacia soil was significantly greater than that of other *** were higher in the acacia soils than those in the rice,maize,and banana *** OM content was significantly higher in the acacia,cassava,and banana soils than those in the rice and maize *** mean of exchangeable K+in the rice soil was higher compared to those in other soils and was affected by land-use *** high exchangeable acidity content in the soils was probably due to intensive ***,both land use type and management did not affect the CEC ***,the inappropriate land use caused the disturbance of soil physicochemical properties,indicating that the conditions of rice and maize soils are becoming worse than acacia ***,lowering the intensity of cultivation,adopting incorporated soil fertility management,and applying organic fertilizer should preserve the existing conditions and enhance soil properties.

To pursue the ideal of a safe high-tech society in a time when traffic accidents are frequent,the traffic signs detection system has become one of the necessary topics in recent years and in the *** ultimate goal of this research is to identify and classify the types of traffic signs in a panoramic *** accomplish this goal,the paper proposes a new model for traffic sign detection based on the Convolutional Neural Network for com-prehensive traffic sign classification and Mask Region-based Convolutional Neural Networks(R-CNN)implementation for identifying and extracting signs in panoramic *** augmentation and normalization of the images are also applied to assist in classifying better even if old traffic signs are degraded,and considerably minimize the rates of discovering the extra *** proposed model is tested on both the testing dataset and the actual images and gets 94.5%of the correct signs recognition rate,the classification rate of those signs discovered was 99.41%and the rate of false signs was only around 0.11.

Objective:To investigate the antitumor effect of maesopsin 4-O-β-glucoside(TAT2) isolated from the leaves of Artocarpus tonkinensis(***) *** ***:The antitumor activity of TAT2 was evaluated in Lewis lung carcinoma(LLC) tumor-bearing ***/c mice had tumors induced by implantation with 2× 10~6 LLC cells into the subcutaneous right posterior ***-bearing mice were treated orally with a range of doses of TAT2 and a standard drug,*** were observed for tumor growth and mortality *** was collected to determine hematological and biochemical *** TAT2 was isolated from an ethanolic extract of *** *** structure was determined by MS and NMR spectroscopy,and identified as *** compound did not show acute toxicity at the highest dose tested(2 OIK) mg/kg body weight).TAT2 exhibited antitumor activity by decreasing tumor growth,increasing the survival rale,and ameliorating some hematological and biochemical parameters at doses of 100 and 200 mg/kg body weight(P<0.05).Conclusions:These results indicate that TAT2 possesses clear antitumor *** to its bioavailability and low toxicity,and the fact that it could be isolated in a large scale from *** leaves,the compound shows promise as a potential anticancer drug.

Adapting and restricting salinity intrusion in Vietnam is being concerned by more researchers as well as the local *** study aimed to use remote sensing and geographic information system(GIS)technology for mapping paddy areas and salinity intrusion in spring crop 2015 at Phu Vang district,thereby helping precondition for assessing and monitoring changes in salinity intrusion to serve for salinization management in study *** on acquisition imagery,land use map and normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI)were extracted to interpolate the salinity of area by combining the laboratory analysis of collected soil samples from the *** result showed that there were 1,067.107 ha of salinity land area accounting for 10.04%of the rice land in Phu Vang district,where the moderate salinity level was 180.67 ha and low salinity level was 866.431 *** salinity rice land was mainly distributed in Vinh Ha commune,Phu An commune and Phu Dien *** salinity in this area ranged from 0.4 mS/cm to 1.41 mS/cm and the moderate salinity was approximately 0.9 mS/***,this research also showed that the salinity(electrical conductivity)and the development of vegetation(NDVI)were closely related with each other up to 61.4%.

Study on Reproductive Performance of Terapon jarbua(Forsskal,1775)in Tam Giang-Cau Hai Lagoon Systems,Thua thien Hue Province

Terapon jarbua was collected from Tam Giang-Cau Hai lagoon systems and then their reproductive performances were *** 342 species were caught by otter trawlers and different fishing gears in marine and Tam Giang-Cau Hai lagoon systems on certain days of each month during period from September 2015 to August 2016 at fishing *** determination of age was based on composition of the fish:ear,scaly,spine,gill cover and spine and the ovarian histology *** gonads after being fixed with Bouins solution were cleansed,cut,dyed and put on the observation *** showed that the sex of Terapon jarbua was nearly clarified at the approximately 1+age group and participated in reproduction process in the first time at the 1+age *** batch and relative fecundity of Terapon jarbua were *** batch fecundity of Terapon jarbua varied from 239,029 to 420,400 *** relative fecundity capacity fluctuated from 945 to 1,013 of eggs per gram of fish and the mean value by 981 eggs per gram of *** spawning season of fish occurred from March to May annually.

The diversity of aquatic resources in Thi Nai Lagoon decreased due to the lack of harmonious use and integrated long-term planning on the use of living *** remained a lack of mechanisms and regulations for coordination of activities in the lagoon by Binh Dinh Provincial People’s Committee(PPC).The aim of the study was to investgate the aquatic species and water quality in Thi Nai Lagoon,*** were collected at 23 different points on Thi Nai Lagoon,with three replicates at each *** were 106 species of fish presented on the lagoon and in different sizes,including 17 mollusc species and 15 crustaceans *** the dry season,there were 167 phytoplankton species in five divisions,10 classes in 39 orders in 59 families including 77 *** had eight chordata in 10 classes of 18 orders including 44 families,64 genus and 102 *** had the largest number of species,78 species,accounting for 76.5%of total *** the rainy season,only 48 species of Arthropoda,Cnidaria,Annelida,Chaetognatha and Rotifer were affected and some were not encountered in the wet season,such as mollusca and *** water quality variables were still good for aquaculture,within permitted limits of TCVN standard and criteria,there were still problems caused by production discharges and living activities of inhabitants around the lagoon,such as sedimentary matters.

The experiment was conducted in winter-spring 2015-2016 in Thua thien Hue to identify different foliar fertilizer for Petunia hybrida having good growth and development,beautiful colors and long lifetime under local *** experiment included four treatments with three kinds of forliar fertilizers—Dau Trau MK 30-10-5,gibberellin 25-10-10 and abscisic *** control treatment(T0)used sterilized water without foliar *** results showed that all the foliar fertilizers influenced well on growth and development of Petunia *** Trau MK 30-10-5 helped Petunia hybrida have high quality and high value/cost ratio than the others.

Evaluation of Agronomic Characteristics,Drought Tolerance and Yield of Some Rice Varieties in Central Vietnam

The aim of the study was to evaluate the drought tolerance,agro-morphological characteristics and yield of 10 rice varieties collected from different *** experiment one,drought tolerance of rice varieties under artificial drought condition in the greenhouse was assessed through root and leaf *** experiment two,the growth and yield of rice varieties in the rainfed rice field was *** results showed that drought has affected the root characteristics,leaf rolling and leaf drying of these *** rainfed rice field of Thua thien Hue and Quang Nam province,summer-autumn 2016 and winter-spring 2016-2017 crop season,these rice varieties grew and developed *** growth time was 90-119 d in summer-autumn crop season,while in winter-spring crop season was 107-131 *** yield of these rice varieties ranged from 37.02 quintals/ha to 56.33 quintals/ha and from 42.33 quintals/ha to 66.60 quintals/ha,*** rice varieties with high yields in both two crop seasons were OM4900,GSR38,IR93340 and *** is sugessted to conduct production experiment on a large area in rainfed field for these four varieties to evaluate them objectively and early put them into structure of rice varieties in Central Vietnam.

Effects of Foods on Maturity and Spawning Induction Methods on Ovulation of Rice Field Eel Monopterus albus(Zuiew,1793)in Thua thien Hue Province,Vietnam

Adult rice field eels with 125.52±27.99 g body weight corresponding to 44.79±5.93 cm in length were maturity cultured in a 5 m^2 cement tank without mud for three months with density 30 eels/m^*** broodstocks were fed with three types of food including:sea fish(T1),commercial pellet food(T2)and mixed food—50%sea fish and 50%commercial pellet food(T3).Result showed that the maximum gonadosomatic index(GSI)of female eels fed by sea fish(2.89%±0.67%)was higher than both commercial pellet food(1.62%±0.62%)and mixed food(2.03%±0.82%)(P0.05).Maturity rate of female fed by sea fish(88.91%±9.64%)was higher than commercial pellet food(61.12%±9.64%)(P0.05).*** eels were induced for spawning with two kinds of hormones,including T1:human chorionic ganadotropin(HCG)at 1,500 IU/kg,T2:luteinzing hormone-releasing hormone(LHRH-a)at 150μg/kg and domperidon 10 mg/kg,and T3:control without *** results of spawning induction methods showed that the reproduction rate of female eels induced by LHRH-a and HCG hormones were higher than that by natural reproduction method(P<0.05).Others,the survival rate of fry eels after 5 d using natural reproduction method(92.65%±2.54%)was higher than both using LHRH-a(67.77%±1.91%)and HCG(68.65%±1.23%)hormones(P<0.05).The average diameter of eggs was 3.40-3.41 mm and the length of newly hatched eels was 1.72±0.19 cm.
