Organic dye removal and recycling performances of graphene oxide-coated biopolymer sponge

In this study, a biopolymer sponge(PS) with a crosslinked mixture of gelatin-chitosan-poly(vinyl alcohol) was dipped into graphene oxide(GO) solution to form a composite sponge(CS, GO-coated PS) by a combination of simple dip-coating and freeze-drying procedures, as a sponge-like adsorbent in organic dye removal *** morphological, chemical, crystalline, mechanical and thermal characterizations of the as-obtained sponges were further investigated for the possible changes in the structure of sponge-like adsorbent after coating the GO sheets on the 3d porous structure of PS. The results showed that the CS had possessed effectively organic dye removal performances comparing to the PS. In the adsorption, the Langmuir and pseudo-second-order models corresponding to a monolayer approach and a chemical adsorption were appropriated. The maximum adsorption capacity of Rhodamine B and Congo red reached 126.8 and 135.0 mg·g-1; and 145.6 and 148.6 mg·g-1corresponding onto the PS and CS. It indicates that the maximum adsorption capacity on the CS enhanced significantly comparing to those on the PS owing to the functional GO sheets coated in the 3d porous structure of PS, which leads to supplying further functional adsorption sides on the whole 3d porous structure of CS. Notably, the sponges-like adsorbents could be regenerated and used again without a remarkable decrease of dye removal ability occurred in 9 adsorbing–desorbing cycles. Therefore, the CS prepared in this study can become a potential adsorbent for actual applications because of non-toxic materials, proper structural features, low-cost material and operation, and reliable recyclability.

Effects of interface trap density on the electrical performance of amorphous InSnZnO thin-film transistor

We reported the influence of interface trap density（Nt） on the electrical properties of amorphous InSnZnO based thin-film transistors,which were fabricated at different direct-current（dC） magnetron sputtering *** device with the smallest Nt of 5.68×10^11 cm^-2 and low resistivity of 1.21×10^-3Ω·cm exhibited a turn-on voltage（V（ON）） of-3.60 V,a sub-threshold swing（S.S） of 0.16 V/dec and an on-off ratio（I（ON）/I（OFF）） of^8 x 10^*** increasing Nt,the V（ON）,S.S and I（ON）/I（OFF） were suppressed to-9.40 V,0.24 V/dec and 2.59×10^8,*** V（TH） shift under negative gate bias stress has also been estimated to investigate the electrical stability of the *** result showed that the reduction in Nt contributes to an improvement in the electrical properties and stability.

Characteristics of Filtered Neutron Beam Energy Spectra at dalat Reactor

Filtered neutron technique was applied for producing quasi-monoenergetic neutron beams of 24 keV, 54 keV, 133 keV and 148 keV at the horizontal neutron channel No. 4 of the dalat Nuclear Research Reactor. The study on physical characteristics of these beam lines has been carried out for efficient applications in neutron capture experiments. The filtered neutron spectrum of each beam has been simulated by Monte-Carlo method and experimentally measured by a gas-filled protonrecoil spectrometer. The neutron fluxes of these filtered beams were measured by the activation technique with standard foils of 197Au, using a high efficient HPGe digital gamma-ray spectrometer.

Effect of obesity on post-operative outcomes following colorectal cancer surgery

BACKGROUNd Colorectal cancer(CRC)resection is currently being undertaken in an increasing number of obese *** studies have yet to reach a consensus as to whether obesity affects post-operative outcomes following CRC *** To evaluate the post-operative outcomes of obese patients following CRC resection,as well as to determine the post-operative outcomes of obese patients in the subgroup undergoing laparoscopic *** Six-hundred and fifteen CRC patients who underwent surgery at the Prince Charles Hospital between January 2010 and december 2020 were categorized into two groups based on body mass index(BMI):Obese[BMI≥30,n=182(29.6%)]and non-obese[BMIdemographics,comorbidities,surgical features,and post-operative outcomes were compared between both *** outcomes were also compared between both groups in the subgroup of patients undergoing laparoscopic surgery[n=472:BMI≥30,n=136(28.8%);BMId a higher burden of cardiac(73.1%vs 56.8%;Pd respiratory comorbidities(37.4%vs 26.8%;P=0.01).Obese patients were also more likely to undergo conversion to an open procedure(12.8%vs 5.1%;P=0.002),but did not experience more postoperative complications(51.6%vs 44.1%;P=0.06)or high-grade complications(19.2%vs 14.1%;P=0.11).In the laparoscopic subgroup,however,obesity was associated with a higher prevalence of post-operative complications(47.8%vs 39.3%;P=0.05)but not high-grade complications(17.6%vs 11.0%;P=0.07).CONCLUSION Surgical resection of CRC in obese individuals is safe.A higher prevalence of post-operative complications in obese patients appears to only be in the context of laparoscopic surgery.

Two-dimensional perovskite SrNbO_(2) N with Zr doping for accelerating photoelectrochemical water splitting

The superior ability of perovskite-type SrNbO_(2) N to absorb intensive visible light makes it a potential semiconductor to produce hydrogen and oxygen by photoelectrochemical(PEC)water splitting under *** surface morphologies,such as shape and structure,of the oxynitride strongly affect its photoactivity,although the mechanism has been hardly ***,we report a two-dimensional(2d)porous SrNbO_(2) N plate with Zr doping,nitrided from layered perovskite Sr_(5)Nb_(4)O_(15) and also its largely enhanced PEC water splitting ***^(4+)was doped in Sr_(5)Nb_(4)O_(15) during flux-assisted calcination using KCl,producing 2d-type truncated-octahedral Sr_(5)Nb_(4)O_(15):Zr plates approximately 50 nm in *** nitridation completely transformed Sr_(5)Nb_(4)O_(15):Zr to 2d single-crystalline SrNbO_(2) N:Zr with a large surface area,which was subsequently used to fabricate a thin and uniform photoanode by the spin coating *** a result,the Co(OH)_(x)/SrNbO_(2) N:Zr/FTO photoanode capable of absorbing visible light of up to 680 nm exhibited an activity of 2.0 mA cm^(-2) at 1.23 V vs the reversible hydrogen electrode for water splitting under AM 1.5G simulated *** improvement in photoactivity mainly originated from the 2d surface morphology of SrNbO_(2) N:Zr,which is clearly distinguishable from 3d-type *** to electrochemical analyses,the 2d structure of SrNbO_(2) N:Zr boosted the separation and accelerated the transfer of charges photogenerated during the water splitting,thus driving the reaction ***,the result empirically demonstrates that controlling the surface morphology of SrNbO_(2) N is an effective strategy to suppress the recombination of charges and minimize their diffusion pathway,eventually enhancing the PEC activity.

Fabrication and properties of high efficiency luminescent nanorods EuPO_4·H_2O by soft template method

Europium orthophosphate monohydrate （EuPO4·H2O） nanorods with typical dimensions of about 10-30 nm in diameter and 300-500 nm in length were prepared by using the soft template method. The effects of using diethylene glycol （dEG） and polyethylene glycol （PEG） polymers as well as the pH values on the size, crystalline structure and morphology of EuPO4·H2O nanorods were investigated. Field emission scanning electron microscopy （FESEM） and X-ray diffraction （XRd） data of the prepared samples were elucidated. The nanorods were highly uniform and their mean length was reduced by using dEG and PEG as soft template agents. For all prepared samples, the rhabdophanetype hexagonal EuPO4·H2O was the dominated phase. The photoluminescence （PL） spectroscopy measurements of EuPO4·H2O nanorods revealed that, under UV excitation, EuPO4·H2O nanorods exhibited strong luminescence with narrow bands corresponding to the intra-4f transitions of ^5d0→^7Fj （j=1, 2, 3, 4） of Eu^3＋ ions. The peaks were found at 594 nm （^5d0→^7F1）, 619 nm （^5d0→^7F2）, 652 nm （^5d0→^7F3）, and 697 nm （^5d0→^7F4）, with the strongest emission at 594 nm.

Noise pollution tends to receive less awareness compared to other types of pollution,however,it greatly impacts the quality of life for humans such as causing sleep disruption,stress or hearing *** urban sound through the identification of noise sources in cities could help to benefit livability by reducing exposure to noise pollution through methods such as noise control,planning of the soundscape environment,or selection of safe living *** this paper,we proposed a self-attention long short-term memory(LSTM)method that can improve sound classification compared to previous *** attention mechanism will be designed solely to capture the key section of an audio data *** is practical as we only need to process important parts of the data and can ignore the rest,making it applicable when gathering information with long-term *** dataset used is the Urbansound8k dataset which specifically pertains to urban environments and data augmentation was applied to overcome imbalanced data and dataset *** audio sources in the dataset were normalized to mono *** the dataset above,an experiment was conducted to confirm the suitability of the proposed model when applied to the mel-spectrogram and MFCC(Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients)datasets transformed from the original *** the classification accuracy depends on the machine learning models as well as the input data,therefore we have evaluated different class models and extraction methods to find the best *** combining data augmentation techniques and various extraction methods,our classification model has achieved state-of-the-art performance,each class accuracy is up to 98%.

Influence of thermal treatment on electronic properties of inkjet-printed zinc oxide semiconductor

Additive manufacturing of electronic devices using inkjet printing provides a potential alternative approach in substitution for con-ventional electronic fabrication ***,the complex nature of inkjet printing involves the liquid deposition and film formation from the vaporization of solvent,which makes it different from film created by conventional deposition *** print-ing of zinc oxide(ZnO),which is a widely utilized semiconductor,produces polycrystalline film composed of nano-size grains,which could significantly influence the properties of printed *** this study,low-temperature annealing was employed to treat inkjetprinted ZnO for UV photodetection application,and its influence on electrical properties was *** bending was character-ized using the Mott-Schottky plot which examines the charge dis-tribution of the *** is found that the annealing of inkjet-printed polycrystalline ZnO film has improved its electrical properties,which could be attributed to the reduction of band bending due to the merging of *** treatment also helps to reduce impurities of the film,such as zinc hydroxide complexes,which is common for solution-derived ***,the study could pay the way for the improvement of electrical properties of inkjet-printed functional materials.

Ceramics based on(Na_(1/2)B_(1/2))TiO_(3) are promising candidates for actuator applications because of large strains generated by an electric field-induced phase *** example,the(1-x)(Na_(1/2)Bi_(1/2))TiO_(3)-xSrTiO_(3) system exhibits a morphotropic phase boundary at x=0.2-0.3,leading to high values of inverse piezoelectric constant d_(33),which can be further improved by the use of single *** our previous work,single crystals of (Na_(1/2)B_(1/2))TiO_(3)-SrTiO_(3) and (Na_(1/2)Bi_(1/2))TiO_(3)-TiO_(3) were grown by the solid state crystal growth *** in the(Nai/2Bi/2)TiO3-SrTiO3 system was sluggish whereas the (Na_(1/2)B_(1/2))TiO_(3)-CaTiO_(3) single crystals grew *** the present work,0.8(Na_(1/2)Bi_(1/2))Ti0_(3)-0.2(Sr_(1-x)Ca_(x))Ti0_(3) single crystals(with x=0.0,0.1,0.2,0.3,0.4)were produced by the solid state crystal growth technique in an attempt to improve crystal growth *** dependence of mean matrix grain size,single crystal growth distance,and electrical properties on the Ca concentration was investigated in *** investigations indicated that at x=0.3 the matrix grain growth was suppressed and the driving force for single crystal growth was *** Sr with Ca increased the shoulder temperature T_(s) and temperature of maximum relative permittivity T_(max),causing a decrease in inverse piezoelectric properties and a change from normal to incipient ferroelectric behavior.
