Photochemical aging of volatile organic compounds(VOCs)in the atmosphere is an important source of secondary organic aerosol(SOA).To evaluate the formation potential of SOA at an urban site in Lyon(France),an outdoor experiment using a Potential Aerosol Mass(PAM)oxidation flow reactor(OFR)was conducted throughout entire days during JanuaryFebruary *** variation of SOA formations and their correlation with OH radical exposure(OHexp),ambient pollutants(VOCs and particulate matters,PM),Relative Humidity(RH),and temperature were explored in this *** urban air was exposed to high concentration of OH radicals with OHexp in range of(0.2-1.2)×10^12 molecule/(cm^3·sec),corresponding to several days to weeks of equivalent atmospheric photochemical *** results informed that urban air at Lyon has high potency to contribute to SOA,and these SOA productions were favored from OH radical photochemical oxidation rather than via *** SOA formation(36μg/m^3)was obtained at OHexp of about 7.4×10^11 molecule/(cm^3·sec),equivalent to approximately 5 days of atmospheric *** correlation between SOA formation and ambient environment conditions(RH&temperature,VOCs and PM)was *** was the first time to estimate SOA formation potential from ambient air over a long period in urban environment of Lyon.

Dear Editor,Chronic pain is a significant concern after major lower limb amputations that often preclude prosthetic fitting,decrease ambulation,and impact the quality of life[1,2].In the last decade,targeted muscle reinnervation(TMR)has been proposed as a surgical strategy for treating or preventing symptomatic neuromas and phantomlimb phenomena in major amputees[1].This technique involves the transfer of an amputated mixed-motor and sensory nerve to a nearby recipient motor nerve[1,2].Unlike most surgical strategies that aim to hide or protect the neuroma,TMR gives the amputated nerves“somewhere to go and something to do”[2].In a randomized clinical trial on neuroma and phantom pain,Dumanian et al.[1]demonstrated that TMR reduces amputationrelated chronic pain at 1-year post-intervention when compared with the excision and muscle-burying technique,which remains the current gold *** et al.[2]also proposed applying TMR at the time of major limb amputation for preventing chronic pain and found that TMR patients experienced less residual limb pain(RLP)and phantom limb pain(PLP)when compared with untreated amputee controls.

The~790 ka Australasian(micro)tektite strewn field is one of the most recent and best-known examples of impact ejecta emplacement as the result of a large-scale cratering event across a considerable part of Earth's surface(>10%in area).The Australasian strewn field is characterized by a tri-lobe pattern consisting of a large central distribution lobe,and two smaller side lobes extending to the west and ***,we report on the discovery of microtektite-like particles in sedimentary traps,containing abundant micrometeorite material,in the Sør Rondane Mountain(SRM)range of East *** thirty-three glassy particles display a characteristic pale yellowcolor and are predominantly spherical in shape,except for a single dumbbell-shaped *** vitreous spherules range in size from220 to 570μm,with an average diameter of~370μ*** compares relatively well with the size distribution(75–778μm)of Australasian microtektites previously recovered from the TransantarcticMountains(TAM)and located ca.2500–3000 km fromthe *** addition,the chemical composition of the SRM particles exhibits limited variation and is nearly identical to the‘normal-type’(i.e.,<6%MgO)TAM *** Sr and Nd isotope systematics for a single batch of SRM particles(n=26)strongly support their affiliation with TAMmicrotektites and the Australasian tektite strewn field in ***,Sr isotope ratios and Nd model ages suggest that the target material of the SRM particles was composed of a plagioclase-or carbonate-rich lithology derived from a Paleo-or Mesoproterozoic crustal *** affiliation to the Australasian strewn field requires long-range transportation,with estimated great circle distances of ca.11,600 km from the hypothetical source crater,provided transportation occurred along the central distribution *** is in agreement with the observations made for the Australasian microtektites recovered from Victoria Land(ca.11,000 km)and Larkman Nunatak(ca.12,000 km),w

AIM： To analyze the modulation of gene expression profile associated with inhibition of liver regeneration in hepatitis B X （HBx）-expressing transgenic mice. METHODS： Microarray technology was performed on liver tissue obtained from 4 control （LacZ） and 4 transgenic mice （HBx-LacZ）, 48 h after partial hepatectomy. The significance of the normalized logratios was assessed for each gene, using robust t-tests under an empirical Bayes approach. Microarray hybridization data was verified on selected genes by quantitative PCR. RESULTS： The comparison of gene expression patterns showed a consistent modulation of the expression of 26 genes, most of which are implicated in liver regeneration. Up-regulated genes included DNA repair proteins （Rad-52, MSH6） and transmembrane proteins （syndecan 4, tetraspanin）, while down-regulated genes were connected to the regulation of transcription （histone deacetylase, Zfp90, MyoDl） and were involved in the cholesterol metabolic pathway and isoprenoidbiosynthesis （farnesyl diphosphate synthase, Cyp7b1, geranylgeranyl diphosphate synthase, SAA3）. AIM: To communicate our findings on successful treat-ment of recto-vaginal fistulas (RVFs) after prosthetic reinforcement surgery of pelvic organ prolapse (POP). METHODS: A retrospective single center study between 1998 and 2008 was performed. A total of 80 patients with RVF were identified, of which five patients (6%), with a mean age of 65 years (range: 52-73), had undergone previous surgery for POP with pros-thetic reinforcement. RESULTS: All patients complained about ongoing vaginal infections and febrile episodes. These symptomswere reported after a mean period of 18 mo after POP repair. As a first intervention, three patients underwent ablation of the prosthetic material (PM). As a second intervention, open proctectomy with a primary anas-tomosis, an omental patch, and a protective ileostomy were performed in two patients. One patient required a terminal colostomy due to complete destruction of the anal sphincters. In two other patients, ablation of the PM and proctectomy was performed as a one-step procedure. The postoperative course in all patients was uneventful, with a mean length of hospitalization of 20 d (range: 15-30). Closure of the ileostomy was achieved in all four patients within four months. After a mean period of 35 mo (range: 4-60) of follow-up, no recurrence was observed with normal continence in four ***: In our experience, the definitive treat-ment of high RVFs after PM repair for POP necessitates ablation of the PM, proctectomy with a primary colo-rectal anastomosis, an omental patch interposition, and a temporary ileostomy.
