AIM To.assess the asso.iatio. o. resting heart rate with allcause and cardio.ascular disease(CVD) mo.tality in the Diabetes Heart Study(DHS).METHo.S o.t o. a to.al o. 1443 participants recruited into.the DHS, 1315 participants with type 2 diabetes who.were free o. atrial fibrillatio. and supraventricular tachycardia during the baseline exam were included in this analysis. Heart rate was co.lected fro. baseline resting electro.ardio.ram and mo.tality(all-cause and CVD) was o.tained fro. state and natio.al death registry. Kaplan-Meier(K-M) and Co. pro.o.tio.al hazard analyses were used to.assess the *** The mean age, bo.y mass index(BMI) and systo.ic blo.d pressure(SBP) o. the co.o.t were 61.4 ± 9.2 years, 32.0 ± 6.6 kg/m2, and 139.4 ± 19.4 mmHg respectively. Fiftysix percent were females, 85% were whites, 15% were blacks, 18% were smo.ers. The mean ± SD heart rate was 69.8(11.9) beats per minute(bpm). After a median fo.lo.-up time o. 8.5 years(maximum fo.lo.-up time is 14.0 years), 258 participants were deceased. In K-M analysis, participants with heart rate abo.e the median had a significantly higher event rate co.pared with tho.e belo. the median(lo.-rank P = 0.0223). A o.e standard deviatio. increase in heart rate was asso.iated with allcause mo.tality in unadjusted(hazard ratio.1.16, 95%CI: 1.03-1.31) and adjusted(hazard ratio.1.20, 95%CI: 1.05-1.37) mo.els. Similar results were o.tained with CVD mo.tality as the o.tco.e o. *** Heart rate is an independent predicto. o. all-cause mo.tality in this po.ulatio. with type 2 diabetes. Glo.ally, hypertensio. is o.e o. the leading causes o. death. It can po.entially lead to.heart disease and stro.e, amo.g o.hers, that co.ld result to.premature death. In Ghana, hypertensio. is co.sidered as a disease that co.tributes to.an increase in o.tpatients’ attendance. To.assess the trend differentials o. hypertensio.-induced deaths in Ghana, Chi-square test fo. equal pro.o.tio.s and Marascuilo.pro.edure fo. pairwise co.pariso. were perfo.med using surveillance data o. repo.ted number o. deaths fro. 2012 to.2016 acro.s the then ten regio.s. The results sho. that incidence o. hypertensio.-induced mo.tality was significantly different fo. almo.t all the regio.s and o.er the years. The incidence o. hypertensio.-induced mo.tality has significantly reduced fro. 2012 to.2016. Ho.ever, Vo.ta Regio. reco.ded the highest incidence o. mo.tality cases (p-value less o. 0.0001) than the o.her regio.s during the perio. under review, while the Upper East Regio. reco.ded co.tinuo.s increase in incidence o. mo.tality cases with the highest in 2016. The Eastern Regio., Central Regio., and Greater Accra Regio. reco.ded significantly (p-value less o. 0.0001) higher incidence o. hypertensio.-induced mo.tality than the Ashanti Regio., Bro.g Ahafo.Regio., No.thern Regio., Western Regio. and Upper West Regio.. The Upper West Regio. and Western Regio. had the lo.est incidence o. mo.tality. Cassia to.a) against co.pea weevil(Callo.o.ruchus maculatus).Metho.: The activities were evaluated using standard *** these bio.ssays, the co.pea seeds were used directly as an insect feed. The activity o. the extract and iso.ated co.po.nds were tested at co.centratio.s o. 100, 200 and 300 μg/mL and co.pared to.neem o.l and cinnamaldehyde(as standard po.itive co.tro.s). Phyto.hemical analysis o. the ethyl acetate extract was do.e thro.gh a number o. chro.ato.raphic techniques and the structures o. the iso.ated co.po.nds were established thro.gh co.prehensive spectro.co.ic analysis including 2 D-NMR and ESI-MS ***: Fractio.atio. o. the active ethyl acetate extract resulted in the iso.atio. o. o.e kno.n anthraquino.e,aurantio.o.tusin(1) and a no.el co.po.nd that was named as cassiato.in(2).
