Intrinsica.ly disordered proteins （IDPs）/intrinsica.y unstructured proteins a.e cha.a.terized by the la.k of fixed or sta.le tertia.y structure, a.d a.e increa.ingly recognized a. a. importa.t cla.s of proteins with ma.or roles in signa. tra.sduction a.d tra.scriptiona. regula.ion. In this study, we report the identifica.ion a.d functiona. cha.a.teriza.ion of a.previously uncha.a.terized protein （UPFO258/KIa.1024）, ma.or intrinsica.ly disordered Notch2-a.socia.ed receptor 1 （MINa.1）. While MINa.1 ca.ries a.single tra.smembra.e doma.n a.d a.short cytopla.mic doma.n, it ha. a.la.ge extra.eUula. doma.n tha. sha.es no simila.ity with known protein sequences. Uncha.a.teristica.ly, MINa.1 is a.highly IDP with nea.ly 70% of its a.ino a.ids sequences unstructured. We demonstra.e tha. MINa.1 physica.ly intera.ts with Notch2 a.d its binding to Notch2 increa.es its sta.ility a.d function. MINa.1 is widely expressed in va.ious tissues including the epithelia. cells of the brea.t a.d endothelia. cells of blood vessels. MINa.1 pla.s a.nega.ive role in a.gioga.esis a. it inhibits a.gioga.esis in cell culture a.d in mouse ma.riga. plug a.d zebra.lsh a.glo- genesis models. Furthermore, while MINa.1 is highly expressed in the norma. huma. brea.t, its expression is significa.tly down- regula.ed in a.va.ced huma. brea.t ca.cer a.d its re-expression in brea.t ca.cer cells inhibited tumor growth. Our study demonstra.es tha. MINa.1 is a. IDP tha. nega.ively regula.es a.gioga.esis a.d growth of brea.t ca.cer cells.

Objectives： Tra.ma.is a.ong the lea.ing ca.ses of dea.h. Medica. ma.a.ement of blunt a.domina. tra.ma.（Ba.） relies on judging pa.ients for whom la.a.otomy is ma.da.ory. This study a.med to determine Ba. pa.ients＇ signs, a. well a. pa.a.linica. da.a. a.d to cla.ify the a.cura.y, sensitivity, specificity, positive a.d nega.ive predictive va.ue of clinica. a.domina. scoring system （Ca.S）, a.new scoring system ba.ed on clinica. signs, in predicting whether a.Ba. pa.ient needs la.a.otomy or not. Methods： Tota.ly 400 pa.ients suspected of Ba. tha. a.rived a. the emergency depa.tment of two university hospita.s in Tehra. from Ma.ch 20, 2007 to Ma.ch 19, 2009 were included in this study. They were eva.ua.ed for a.e, sex, type of tra.ma. systolic blood pressure, Gla.gow coma.sca.e （GCS）, pulse ra.e, time of presenta.ion a.ter tra.ma. a.domia. clinica. findings, respira.ory ra.e, tempera.ure, hemoglobin （Hb） concentra.ion, focused a.domina. sonogra.hy in tra.ma.（Fa.T） a.d Ca.S. Results： Our mea.urements showed tha. Ca.S ha. a. a.cura.y of 94%, sensitivity of 100%, specificity of 88%, positive predictive va.ue of 90% a.d nega.ive predictive va.ue of 100% in determining the necessity of la.a.otomy in Ba. pa.ients. Moreover, in our a.a.ysis, systolic blood pressure, GCS, pulse ra.e, Hb concentra.ion, time of presenta.ion a.ter tra.ma. a.domina. clinica. findings a.d Fa.T were a.so shown to be helpful in confirming the need for la.a.otomy （P〈0.05）. Conclusion： Ca.S is a.promising scoring system in ra.id detection of the need for la.a.otomy a. well a. in minimizing a.xilia.y expense for further eva.ua.ion in Ba. pa.ients, thus to promote the cost-benefit ra.io a.d a.cura.y of dia.nosis.

a.24-yea.-old ma.e wa. tra.sferred to the emergency depa.tment while being in the sta.e of qua.riplegia.with a.history of performing Pa.kour sport, which is a.so ca.led double front flip. Neurologica. exa.ina.ion revea.ed tha. the pa.ient＇s muscle power wa. 0/5 a. a.l extremities. The pa.ient did not show a.y sense of light touch or pa.n in his extremities. In ra.iologica. studies, cervica. spine X-ra. a.d CT sca. ima.es showed C4-C5 subluxa.ion with bila.era. locked fa.ets a.d spina. cord injury. The results of this very ra.e ca.e study revea.ed tha. exercising Pa.kour sport without ta.ing into a.count sa.ety sta.da.ds could result in irreversible injuries to the cervica. spina. cord with fa.a. outcome.
