Biosynthesis and thermal properties of poly（3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate）（PHBV） with different HV （hydrovalerate） content produced by a Bacillus cereus strain were investigated. A large variety of HV contents （up to about 90 mol%） of PHBV could be produced by this strain. Combined nitrogen sources containing both yeast extract and ammonium sulphate were better for cell growth and polyhydroxyalkanoates （PHA） production than either yeast extract or ammonium sulphate alone. Propionic acid is more favorable for the production of HV content than that of valeric acid. Finally, thermal properties of PHBV produced by this strain are found close to the results of other groups.

Malt waste is a kind of food waste from brewery to be disposed of in the conventional waste treatment In this report, malt waste was used as a nutrient to produce biodegradable plastic polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) by recombinant *** XL1 blue harboring the biosynthesis genes of Ralstonia eutrophus, which was constructed by our laboratory. Poly (3 hydroxybutyrate)(PHB) was extracted from the fermentation broth when PHB content and PHB concentration reached at 67.72% in dry cell, 3.64g/L in broth, respectively. The transfer yield of PHB from malt waste is 0.37per gram of carbohydrate of malt waste. PHB polymer was identified by GC, DSC and NMR.

Achieving more meaningful N2 conversion by reducing the energy input and carbon footprint is now being investigated through a method of N2 fixation instead of the Haber-Bosch ***,the electrochemical N2 reduction reaction(NRR)method as a rising approach currently still shows low selectivity(Faradaic efficiencyfurther mechanism studies indicate B and Al as main-group metals show a highly selective affinity to N2 due to the strong interaction between the B 2p/Al 3p band and the N 2p orbitals,while Mo exhibits specific catalytic activity toward the subsequent reduction ***,the MAB-phase catalyst under the synergy of the elements within ternary compound can suppress the hydrogen evolution reaction and achieve enhanced NRR *** significance of this work is to provide a promising candidate in the future synthesis of ammonia.

Background Although cytological methods for breast oncology have been used in recent decades, intra-operative frozen section has been playing a vital role in making therapeutic decisions. We analyzed a large series of frozen section diagnoses for Chinese cases of breast lesion within the last 15 years. The experience was expected to increase the diagnostic accuracy of cases with breast lesions. Methods The data from consecutive 13243 cases of breast lesions diagnosed with intra-operative frozen sections between 1988 to 2002 were compared with paraffin sections in a case by case manner. The causes of false negative and positive diagnoses as well as delayed diagnoses were analyzed. Results One hundred and seventeen cases （0.9%） were falsely diagnosed, with one false positive case and 116 false negative cases. The diagnosis of 47 cases （0.4%） was delayed. The proportion of several lesions had the features of the patients＇ ages. Six types （false invasion, peri-papUloma, adenoma of nipple duct, florid adenosis, sclerosing adenosis, and granulose cell tumor） of lesions may lead to false positive, and four types （morphological changes responding chemotherapy, well differentiated papillary carcinoma, invasive Iobular carcinoma, and tubular carcinoma） to a false negative. Gross and microscopic findings may be inconsistent in two types of lesions （radial scar and florid adenosis） microscopic and clinical findings in three types （ganulomatous mastitis mammary, duct ectasia, and fat necrosis）, and three types （abundant fat or sclerous tissues; borderline lesions and changes of post-chemotherapy） were likely wrongly classified. Conclusions Intra-operative frozen section can accurately identify breast lesions in many instances, leading to fewer errors on account of more diaanostic experience and understandina of diaanostic limitations.

Brucea javanica oil emulsion(BJOE)has been used to treat tumor in China for more than 40 ***,its components and effectiveness in the treatment of acute lymphocytic leukemia(ALL)and its mechanism of anti-cancer activity remain *** the current study,high-performance liquid chromatography-evaporative light scattering detector(HPLC-ELSD)was used to analyze the components of ***,the anti-leukemia effects of BJOE were examined both in vitro and in vivo using ALL Jurkat cells and the p388 mouse leukemia transplant model,*** primary ALL leukemia cells were also used to confirm the antileukemia effects of *** apoptotic-related results indicated that BJOE induced apoptosis in Jurkat cells and were suggestive of intrinsic apoptotic ***,BJOE inhibited Akt(protein kinase B)activation and upregulated its downstream targets p53 and Fox O1(forkhead box gene,group O-1)to initiate *** activation of GSK3βwas also *** findings demonstrate that BJOE has anti-leukemia effects on ALL cells and can induce apoptosis in Jurkat cells through the phosphoinositide3-kinase(PI3 K)/Akt signaling pathway.

AIM:To study the molecular mechanism of laterally spreading tumor (LST), a cell line [Laterally Spreading Tumor-Rectum 1 (LST-R1)] was derived and the characteristics of this cell line were investigated. METHODS:A new cell line (LST-R1) originated from laterally spreading tumor was established. Properties of the cell line were characterized using scanning and transmission electron microscopy, immunohistochemistry method, cytogenetic analysis and nude mice xenograft experiments. In vitro invasion assay, cDNA microarray and Western blotting were used to compare the difference between the LST-R1 and other colorectal cancer cell lines derived from prudent colon cancer. RESULTS:Our study demonstrated that both epithelial special antigen (ESA) and cytokeratin-20 (CK20) were expressed in LST-R1. The cells presented microvilli and tight junction with large nuclei. The karyotypic analysis showed hyperdiploid features with structural chromosome aberrations. The in vivo tumorigenicity was also demonstrated in nude mice xenograft experiments. The invasion assay suggested this cell line has a higher invasive ability. cDNA microarray and Western blotting show the loss of the expression of E-cadherin in LST-R1 ***:We established and characterized a colorectal cancer cell line, LST-R1 and LST-R1 has an obvious malignant tendency, which maybe partially attributed to the changes of the expression of some adhesion molecules, such as E-cadherin. It is also a versatile tool for exploring the original and progressive mechanisms of laterally spreading tumor and the early colon cancer genesis.

As environmentally benign and high-efficiency energy storage devices,sodium-ion capacitors(SICs),which combine the merits of batteries and supercapacitors,are considered to have potentially high energy/power densities and long ***,the lack of high-rate anodes that can match the high-power-density cathode hinders the commercial application of *** this work,heterostructured Fe/FeSe_(2)/Fe_(3)Se_(4)nanocomposite is pre-pared by chemical vapor deposition(CVD)method and investigated as the anode for *** heterointerface manipulation,Fe/FeSe_(2)/Fe_(3)Se_(4)demonstrates better sodium ion storage performances than the pure FeSe_(2)and FeSe_(2)/Fe_(3)Se_(4).It can deliver a specific capacity of 484.8 mAh·g^(-1)after 100 cycles at 0.5 A·g^(-1),as well as a good capacity *** excellent performance of Fe/FeSe_(2)/Fe_(3)Se_(4)nanocomposite can be ascribed to the synergistic effect of the heterointerface engineered components,where FeSe_(2)and Fe_(3)Se_(4) are responsible for offering a high capacity and metallic Fe can server as mini-current collectors,effec-tively accelerating the electron and charge transfer ***,the heterointerface significantly facilitates the sodium ion fast transport,and retards the structural variation during ***-1000//activated carbon(AC)SIC affords a high energy density of 112 Wh·kg^(-1)at 107.5 W·kg^(-1),its power density can achieve 10,750 W·kg^(-1)with remained energy density of 44.2 Wh·kg^(-1),as well as an outstanding cycling stability,demonstrating this effective heterointerface engineered anode strategy for high-performance SICs.
