This study evaluated the site-specific effects o. pro.ected future climate co.ditio.s o. the pro.uctivity o. jack pine (Pinus banksiana Lamb.) plantatio.s o.er the next 50 years (2011-2061). Climatic parameters as predicted by the Canadian Glo.al Climate Mo.el in asso.iatio. with a regio.al spatial climatic mo.el, under 3 emissio.s scenario. (no.change (NC), B1 and A2), were used as input values to.a bio.hysical-based site-specific height-age mo.el that was integrated into.the CRo.LANNER mo.el and asso.iated algo.ithm. Plantatio.s managed under a basic silvicultural intensity o. two.site qualities at each o. two.geo.raphically separated sites (no.theastern and no.thwestern o.tario. Canada) were assessed. The results indicated that the stands situated o. lo.-to.medium quality sites at bo.h lo.atio.s were largely unaffected by the predicted increase in temperature and precipitatio. rates. Co.versely, ho.ever, stands situated o. go.d-to.excellent quality sites gro.n under the B1 and A2 scenario. experienced co.sequential declines in stand develo.ment rates resulting in decreases in ro.atio.al mean sizes, bio.ass yields, reco.erable end-pro.uct vo.umes, and eco.o.ic wo.th. In additio. to.pro.iding a plausible range o. site-specific climate change o.tco.es o. jack pine pro.uctivity within the central po.tio. o. the species range, these results suggest that future predictio.s that do.no. acco.nt fo. po.ential climate changes effects may o.eres- timate merchantable pro.uctivity o. the higher site qualities by appro.imately 15%. This study presents an analysis o. sediments in an Andean river impacted by bo.h natural co.ditio.s and anthro.o.enic activities. Fifty samples were co.lected fro. selected sites thro.gho.t the Mo.uegua River drainage basin, and Tambo.River headwaters at Pasto.Grande, in Peru, and analysed with X-ray diffractio., energy dispersive X-ray spectro.co.y, scanning electro. micro.co.y, Fo.rier-transfo.m infrared spectro.co.y and thermo.ravimetric analysis. Si, Ca, Al, Fe, and o. co.mo. co.stituents o. so.ls, were do.inant, alo.g with K, N, and P. The latter o.iginating as primary macro.utrients o. chemical residuals fro. fertilizers used in agriculture. Higher co.centratio.s o. macro.utrients and o.ganic co.po.ents were fo.nd in agricultural and urban areas, respectively. Arsenic minerals were also.detected, which o.cur naturally, but po.sibly at levels augmented by anthro.o.enic activity. The applicatio. o. cluster analysis revealed clustering between arsenic, arseno.ite, and po.assium but no.significant geo.patial co.relatio. between sample sites in the drainage basin.
