Inflammatory bowel disease serology in Asia and the West

AIM:To study serological antibodies in Caucasians and Asians,in health and inflammatory bowel disease(IBD),in Australia and Hong Kong(HK).METHODS:Anti-glycan antibodies[anti-chitobioside(ACCA),anti-laminaribioside(ALCA)],and anti-mannobioside(AMCA),anti-Saccharomyces cervisiae(gASCA);and atypical perinuclear anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody(pANCA)were tested in IBD patients,their unaffected relatives,and healthy controls in Australia and HK(China).Antibody status(positive or negative)and titre was compared between subjects of different geography,ethnicity and disease ***:Ninety subjects were evaluated:21 Crohn’s disease(CD),32 ulcerative colitis(UC),29 healthy controls,and 8 IBD patient *** eight subjects were Australian(29 Caucasian and 19 ethnic Han Chinese)and 42 were from HK(all Han Chinese).Caucasian CD patients had a significantly higher antibody prevalence of gASCA(67%vs 3%,P<0.001),ALCA(44%vs 6%,P=0.005),and AMCA(67%vs 15%,P=0.002),whereas HK CD patients had a higher prevalence of only AMCA(58%vs 25%,P=0.035),when compared with UC and healthy subjects in both *** CD had significantly higher gASCA prevalence(67%vs 0%,P<0.001)and titre(median59 vs 9,P=0.002)than HK CD *** and titres of ALCA,ACCA and AMCA did not differ between CD in the two *** of at least one antibody was higher in Caucasian than HK CD patients(100%vs 58%,P=0.045).pANCA did not differ between countries or ***:Serologic CD responses differ between HK Asian and Australian Caucasian *** genetic,environmental or disease pathogenic factors may account for these differences.

BACKGROUND Vedolizumab(VDZ),a humanised monoclonal antibody that selectively inhibits alpha4-beta7 integrins is approved for use in adult moderate to severe ulcerative colitis(UC)*** To assess the efficacy and safety of VDZ in the real-world management of UC in a large multicenter cohort involving two countries and to identify predictors of achieving *** A retrospective review of Australian and Oxford,United Kingdom data for UC *** response at 3 mo,endoscopic remission at 6 mo and clinical remission at 3,6 and 12 mo were *** regression models and Kaplan Meier curves were performed to assess the time to remission,time to failure and the covariates influencing *** outcomes were *** Three hundred and three UC patients from 14 centres in Australia and United Kingdom,[60%n=182,anti-TNF naïve]were *** clinical response was 79%at 3 mo with more Australian patients achieving clinical response compared to Oxford(83%vs 70%P=0.01).Clinical remission for all patients was 56%,62%and 60%at 3,6 and 12 mo ***-TNF naive patients were more likely to achieve remission than exposed patients at all the time points(3 mo 66%vs 40%P<0.001,6 mo 73%vs 46%P<0.001,12 mo 66%vs 51%P=0.03).More Australian patients achieved endoscopic remission at 6 mo compared to Oxford(69%vs 43%P=0.01).On multi-variate analysis,anti-TNF naïve patients were 1.8(95%CI:1.3-2.3)times more likely to achieve remission than anti-TNF exposed(P<0.001).32 patients(11%)had colectomy by 12 *** VDZ was safe and effective with 60%of UC patients achieving clinical remission at 12 mo and prior anti-TNF exposure influenced this outcome.

Global stability for multi-species Lotka-Volterra cooperative systems： One hyper-connected mutualistic-species

We propose two models of one hyper-connected mutualistic-species described by delay differential equations of Lotka-Volterra type. An hyper-connected model comprises a central species interacting with a number of peripheral species around it, that is to say, one animal species （pollinators or dispersers） that interacts with several plant species （flowering plants or fruit trees）, or several animal species that interact with one plant species. We derive a necessary and sufficient condition for the global asymptotic stability of the unique coexisting steady state of hyper-connected systems by means of novel Lyapunov functionals.

Dual role of FGF in proliferation and endoreplication of Drosophila tracheal adult progenitor cells

Adult progenitor cells activation is a key event in the formation of adult *** Drosophilat formation of abdominal adult trachea depends on the specific activation of tracheal adult progenitors(tracheoblasts)at the Tr4 and Tr5 spiracular *** of these tracheoblasts generates a pool of tracheal cells that migrate toward the posterior part of the trachea by the activation of the branchless/fibroblast growth factor(Bnl/FGF)signaling to form the abdominal adult ***,we show that,in addition to migration,Bnl/FGF signaling,mediated by the transcription factor Pointed,is also required for tracheoblast *** tracheoblast activation relies on the expression of the FGF ligand bnl in their nearby ***,we show that,in the absence of the transcription factor Cut(Ct),Bnl/FGF signaling induces endoreplication of tracheoblasts partially by promoting fizzy-related ***,our results suggest a dual role of Bnl/FGF signaling in tracheoblasts,inducing both proliferation and endoreplication,depending on the presence or absence of the transcription factor Ct,respectively.

Quantum physics rules the dynamics of small objects as they interact over microscopic length ***,quantum correlations involving macroscopic distances can be observed between entangled photons as well as in atomic gases and matter waves at low *** long-range nature of the electromagnetic coupling between charged particles and extended objects could also trigger quantum phenomena over large ***,we reveal a manifestation of quantum mechanics that involves macroscopic distances and results in a nearly complete depletion of coherence associated with which-way free-electron interference produced by electron-radiation coupling in the presence of distant extended *** is a ubiquitous effect that we illustrate through a rigorous theoretical analysis of a two-path electron beam interacting with a semi-infinite metallic plate and find the inter-path coherence to vanish proportionally to the path separation at zero temperature and exponentially at finite *** investigated regime of large distances originates in the coupling of the electron to radiative modes assisted by diffraction at material structures but without any involvement of material *** the fundamental interest of this macroscopic quantum phenomenon,our results suggest an approach to measuring the vacuum temperature and nondestructively sensing the presence of distant objects.

Sustainable transit vehicle tracking service,using intelligent transportation system services and emerging communication technologies:A review

The most salient problems of transit vehicle service in Latin American intermediate cities include:the high number of passengers involved in traffic accidents;traffic congestion caused by transit vehicles,and pollution generated by these vehicles,which increases in high congestion *** improve upon this situation,a research was conducted on the transit vehicle tracking service,which is a basic service for implementing mobility solutions for the aforementioned problems,the most relevant characteristics of this service for the context of Latin American intermediate cities were identified,and an implementation was *** paper presents the four stages of the study:(a)a review of the state-of-the-art of services or systems related to vehicle tracking,including wireless communications technologies,implemented sustainability approaches,usage of special algorithms for efficiency improvement,and the intelligent transportation system(ITS)architecture used as a basis;(b)the process of identifying relevant characteristics of the service for a given context;(c)proposal of an ITS architecture for this service in an intermediate city,its requirements and the suggested technologies;and(d)development of experiments for validating usage of the key suggested *** review allowed to identify the main service characteristics,with regard to vehicle positioning technologies,the recommended wireless communication technology(long range,LoRa),energy consumption considerations,and use of artificial intelligence(AI)to calculate waiting time of users at bus ***,an ITS architecture for the city of Popayan(Colombian city)considering the aforementioned characteristics is proposed,and the experiments related to the use of these technologies are described in detail.

BACKGROUND Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is the most common subtype of primary liver cancer with varied incidence and epidemiology *** is still a recommended treatment for a large proportion of patients with advanced *** patterns of treatment responsiveness have been identified in differentiated hepatoblastoma HepG2 cells and metastatic HCC SNU449 *** To define the long non-codingRNA-microRNA-mRNA(lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA)predicted signatures related to selected hallmarks of cancer(apoptosis,autophagy,cell stress,cell dedifferentiation and invasiveness)in RNAseq studies using Sorafenib-treated HepG2 and SNU449 *** available software analyses allowed us to establish the lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA regulatory axes following treatment in HepG2 and SNU449 *** HepG2 and SNU449 cells were treated with Sorafenib(10μmol/L)for 24 *** RNA,including small and long RNA,was extracted with a commercial miRNeasy *** was carried out for the identification of changes in lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA regulatory *** MALAT,THAP9-AS1 and SNGH17 appeared to coordinately regulate miR-374b-3p and miR-769-5p that led to upregulation of SMAD7,TIRARP,TFAP4 and FAXDC2 in HepG2 ***12,EPB41 L4A-AS1,LINC01578,SNHG12 and GAS5 interacted with let-7b-3p,miR-195-5p and VEGFA in SNU449 *** axes MALAT1/hsamir-374b-3p/SMAD7 and MALAT1/hsa-mir-769-5p/TFAP4 were of high relevance for Sorafenib response in HepG2 cells,whereas PVT1/hsa-miR-195-5p/VEGFA was responsible for the differential response of SNU449 cells to Sorafenib *** Critical lncRNAs acting as sponges of miRNA were identified that regulated mRNA expression,whose proteins mainly increased the antitumor effectiveness of the treatment(SMAD7,TIRARP,TFAP4,FAXDC2 and ADRB2).However,the broad regulatory axis leading to increased VEGFA expression may be related to the side effect of Sorafenib in SNU449 cells.

Experimental study of friction dissipators for seismic protection of building structures

This paper presents the results from unidirectional shaking table tests of two reduced scale steel models of a building frame, with one and two floors, respectively. These frames incorporate friction dissipators at every floor. The inputs are sine-dwells and artificial and registered earthquakes. This study is part of a larger research project aiming to assess the seismic efficiency of friction dissipators by means of an integrated numerical and experimental approach. Inside this framework, the main objectives of these experiments are to：（i） collect a wide range of results to calibrate a numerical model derived within the project, （ii） clarify some of the most controversial issues about friction dissipators （including behavior for inputs containing pulses, capacity to reduce resonance peaks, introduction of high frequencies in the response, and self- generated eccentricities）, （iii） better understand their dynamic behavior, （iv） provide insight on the feasibility and reliability of using simple friction dissipators for seismic protection of building structures and （v） characterize the hysteretic behavior of these devices. Most of these objectives are satisfactorily reached and relevant conclusions are stated.
