Predictive Factors of renal Failure in COVID-19 Patients at the Anti-COVID Center in Lome, Togo

background: Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 has been identified as the receptor that allows the entry of SarsCov2 into the human cell. Its expression in the kidney is 100 times higher than in the lung;thus, making the kidney an excellent target for SarsCov2 infection manifesting as renal failure (rF). The objective of this study was to determine the predictive factors of rF during COVID-19 in the Togolese context. Patients and Methods: This was a retrospective descriptive and analytical study conducted at the Lomé Anti-COVID Center including the records of patients hospitalized for COVID-19, of age ≥ 18 years and having performed a creatinemia. rF was defined by a GFr 2 calculated according to the MDrD formula. Patients were randomized into 2 groups according to GFrresults: 482 patients were selected for this study with a mean age of 58.02 years. Sixty-five percent of the patients were men, i.e., a sex ratio of 1.88. Fifty-two patients had rF, i.e., a frequency of 10.8%.There were 65% men (315 cases), for a sex ratio (M/F) of 1.88. risk factors for renal failure in COVID-19 were age ≥ 65 years (Ora 2.42;CIa95% [1.17 - 4.95];p = 0.016), anemia (Ora 2.49;CIa95% [1.21 - 5.26];p = 0.015), moderate (Ora 13;CIa95% [2.30 - 2.44];p = 0.017), severe (Ora 26.2;CIa95% [4.85 - 4.93];p = 0.002) and critical (Ora 108;CIa95% [16.5 - 21.76];p Conclusion: renal failure would therefore be related to the severity of COVID-19 and is the most formidable factor, conditioning the course of the disease and the patient’s vital prognosis.

A cross-sectional study to assess medication safety,knowledge,attitude,and practices regarding nutrition and medication among pregnant women

Objective:To assess pregnant women's knowledge,attitude,and practice regarding nutrition and medication usage,analyse the prescribing pattern,and categorize them based on the Food and Drug Administration(FDA)***:A cross-sectional study was conducted with 264 pregnant women in the obstetrics and gynaecology department of a tertiary care hospital from October 2022 to August 2023.A knowledge,attitude,and practice(KAP)questionnaire was prepared in English language by the researchers and validated by an expert panel consisting of 12 *** validated questionnaire was then translated into regional languages,Kannada and *** reliability of the questionnaire was assessed with test-retest method with a representative sample population of 30 subjects(10 subjects for each language).The subjects'knowledge,attitude,and practice were evaluated using the validated KAP *** safety of the medication was assessed using the FDA drug safety classification for ***:The mean scores for nutritional and medication usage knowledge,attitude,and practice were 4.14±1.15,4.50±1.09,and 3.00±1.47,*** 30 prescribed medications,3 belong to category A(no risk in human studies),8 belong to category b(no risk in animal studies),18 belong to category C(risk cannot be ruled out)and 1 drug is not classified.A significant association was observed between medication knowledge and practice(r=0.159,P=0.010).Conclusions:Most of the study population knows the need to maintain good dietary and medication practices during *** pregnant women regarding diet and medication usage is crucial in maternal care.

Structure and reaction dynamics of SHE Z = 130

This study investigates the structural properties of super-heavy nuclei with Z=130 by adopting the relativistic mean-field (rMF) theory within an axially deformed oscillator basis with the NL3 force parameter set. We study the binding energies, quadrupole deformation, nuclear radii, neutron separation energies, and other bulk properties. Moreover, we analyze the favorable decay modes for clear cognitive content of nuclei, such as alpha decay, using different formulae including the Viola-Seaberg, analytical formula of royer, universal curve formula, and universal decay law. We compare these with the corresponding fission process. The spontaneous fission of super-heavy nuclei is studied with Z=130 within the mass region 310≤A≤340. The results exhibit good agreement with finite range droplet model (FrDM) data. This formalism presents a significant step forward in the study of the structure and decay modes of the isotopes of Z=130. With this appraisal, we investigate the possible shell/sub-shell closure for super-heavy nuclei adjacent by decay chains of alpha and other radioactive decay particles.

Advances in mass spectrometry(MS)have enabled high-throughput analysis of proteomes in biological *** state-of-the-art MS data analysis relies on database search algorithms to quantify proteins by identifying peptide–spectrum matches(PSMs),which convert mass spectra to peptide *** database search algorithms use distinct search strategies and thus may identify unique ***,no existing approaches can aggregate all user-specified database search algorithms with a guaranteed increase in the number of identified peptides and a control on the false discovery rate(FDr).To fill in this gap,we proposed a statistical framework,Aggregation of Peptide Identification results(APIr),that is universally compatible with all database search ***,under an FDr threshold,APIr is guaranteed to identify at least as many,if not more,peptides as individual database search algorithms *** of APIr on a complex proteomics standard dataset showed that APIr outpowers individual database search algorithms and empirically controls the *** data studies showed that APIr can identify disease-related proteins and post-translational modifications missed by some individual database search *** APIr framework is easily extendable to aggregating discoveries made by multiple algorithms in other high-throughput biomedical data analysis,e.g.,differential gene expression analysis on rNA sequencing *** APIr r package is available at https://***/yiling0210/APIr.

Purpose:The present work examines the associations of dietary habits,sedentarism,physical activity(PA)levels and sleep habits,with thyroid function in young euthyroid ***:A total of 105 young euthyroid adults participated in this cross-sectional *** function was determined in fasting conditions(>6 h).Dietary habits were measured by a food frequency questionnaire and three non-consecutive 24 h recalls,and different dietary intake and patterns were then *** time spent in sedentary,PA levels and sleep habits were objectively measured using a wrist-worn ***:Energy and carbohydrate intake were positively associated with thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH)(β=0.222;r^(2)=0.102;P=0.022 andβ=0.425;r^(2)=0.129;P=0.007,respectively)whereas fat intake was negatively associated with TSH(β=-0.428;r^(2)=0.137;P=0.004).Energy intake was also positively associated with free triiodothyronine(β=0.277;r^(2)=0.137;P=0.004).Further,adherence to the Mediterranean diet was negatively related to TSH and free thyroxine(FT4)(β=-0.221;r^(2)=0.113;P=0.020 andβ=-0.268;r^(2)=0.071;P=0.007,respectively).Vigorous-intensity and overall PA were negatively associated with FT4(β=-0.227;r^(2)=0.052;P=0.022 andβ=-0.204;r^(2)=0.042;P=0.041,respectively).In contrast,no associations were found between sleep parameters and thyroid ***:Lifestyle factors such as dietary intake and PA levels seems to be related to thyroid function even in young euthyroid adults.

Improving structures involves comparing old and new designs on a key *** the percent change in performance is a method to *** paper proposes a cost-effective analogy by generating replicas of additive manufactured aluminum alloy(Al Si10Mg)body-centered cubic lattice(bCC)based turbine blade(T106C)with the same in poly-lactic acid(PLA)material and their comparison in the context of percent change for natural ***,a cavity is created inside the turbine blade(hollow blade).Natural frequencies are obtained experimentally and numerically by incorporating bCC at 50%and 80%of the cavity length into the hollow blade for both *** cost of manufacturing the metal blades is 90%more than that of the PLA *** two material blade designs show a similar percentage variation,as the first-order mode enhancs more than 5%and the second-order mode more than 4%.To observe the behavior in another material,both blades are analyzed numerically with a nickel-based U-500 material,and the same result is achieved,describing that percent change between designs can be verified using the PLA material.

Three-degree-of-freedom Parallel Manipulator to Track the Sun for Concentrated Solar Power Systems

In concentrated solar power（CSP） generating stations, incident solar energy is reflected from a large number of mirrors or heliostats to a faraway receiver. In typical CSP installations, the mirror needs to be moved about two axes independently using two actuators in series with the mirror effectively mounted at a single point. A three degree-of-freedom parallel manipulator, namely the 3-rPS parallel manipulator, is proposed to track the sun. The proposed 3-rPS parallel manipulator supports the load of the mirror, structure and wind loading at three points resulting in less deflection, and thus a much larger mirror can be moved with the required tracking accuracy and without increasing the weight of the support structure. The kinematics equations to determine motion of the actuated prismatic joints in the 3-rPS parallel manipulator such that the sun＇s rays are reflected on to a stationary receiver are developed. Using finite element analysis, it is shown that for same sized mirror, wind loading and maximum deflection requirement, the weight of the support structure is between 15% and 60% less with the 3-rPS parallel manipulator when compared to azimuth-elevation or the target-aligned configurations.
