Experiment on wear Behavior of High Pressure Gas Seal Faces

Current researches show that mechanical deformation of seal ring face makes fluid film clearance decrease at high pressure side, thus a divergent clearance is formed and face wear occurs more seriously at the high pressure side than that on the low pressure side. However, there is still lack of published experimental works enough to prove the theoretical results. In this paper, a spiral groove dry gas seal at high pressures is experimentally investigated so as to prove the face wear happened at the high pressure side of seal faces due to the face mechanical deformation, and the wear behavior affected by seal ring structure is also studied. The experimental results show that face wear would occur at the high pressure side of seal faces due to the deformation, thus the leakage and face temperature increase, which all satisfies the theoretical predictions. When sealed pressure is not less than 5 MPa, the pressure can provide enough opening force to separate the seal faces. The seal ring sizes have obvious influence on face wear. Face wear, leakage and face temperature of a dry gas seal with the smaller cross sectional area of seal ring are less than that of a dry gas seal with bigger one, and the difference of leakage rate between these two sizes of seal face width is in the range of 24%–25%. Compared with the effect of seal ring sizes, the effect of secondary O-ring seal position on face deformation and face wear is less. The differences between these two types of dry gas seals with different secondary O-ring seal positions are less than 5.9% when the rotational speed varies from 0 to 600 r/min. By linking face wear and sealing performance changes to the shift in mechanical deformation of seal ring, this research presents an important experimental method to study face deformation of a dry gas seal at high pressures.

The novel microgels, poly[di（ethylene glycol） methyl ether methacrylate-co-2-methoxyethyl acrylate] poly（DEGMMA-co-MEA） microgels, were synthesized. The poly（DEGMMA-co-MEA） microgels were thermo-sensitive and exhibited a volume phase transitive temperature（VPTT） of 14–22 ℃. The incorporation of hydrophobic comonomer MEA shifted the VPTT of poly（DEGMMA-co-MEA） microgels to lower temperatures. The interfacial interaction of poly（DEGMMA-co-MEA） microgels and three model proteins, namely fibrinogen, bovine serum albumin and lysozyme, was investigated by quartz crystal microbalance（QCM）. An injection sequence of ＂microgel-after-protein＂ was then established for the real-time study of the interaction of proteins and the microgels at their swollen and collapsed states by using QCM technique. The results indicated that the interfacial interaction of poly（DEGMMA-co-MEA） microgels and adsorbed protein layers was mainly determined by the electrostatic interaction. Because poly（DEGMMA-co-MEA） microgels were negatively charged in Tris-HCl buffer solution（pH = 7.4）, the microgels did not adsorb on negatively charged fibrinogen and bovine serum albumin layers but strongly adsorbed on positively charged lysozyme layer. Stronger interaction between lysozyme and the microgels at collapsed state（i.e. at 37 ℃） was observed. Furthermore, the incorporation of MEA might weaken the interaction between poly（DEGMMA-co-MEA） microgels and proteins.

Issues like morphology control and further multifunctional applications are of significant importance for rare earth nano-oxides,e.g.,cerium dioxide(CeO_(2))nanostructures,however,relevant results in this respect are rather limited up to *** the present work,ultrathin CeO_(2) nanosheets were synthesized through a facile lowtemperature hydrothermal *** structure,morphology and specific surface area of these CeO_(2) nanosheets were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),field emission scanning electron microscope(FESEM)and N2 ***,CeO_(2) nanosheets have the potential as bifunctional sensing materials to detect both humidity and formaldehyde *** CeO_(2) nanosheet humidity sensor exhibited excellent sensing characteristics in the relative humidity range of 11%-97% with the response value as high as 3.1×10^(4).Meanwhile,the CeO_(2) nanosheet gas sensor showed superior sensitivity and repeatability with fast response/recovery speed toward formaldehyde vapor at 300℃.Finally,the humidity and formaldehyde sensing mechanism were discussed as well.

we numerically investigate the magnetoelastic(ME)instability in spin 1/2 antiferromagnetic rings with nearest-next neighbor(NNN)coupling J_(2)and Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya(DM)interaction D_(z).It is found that,for a given Dz,there exists a critical J_(2)^(c).As J_(2)=J_(2)^(c),the ME instability is irrelative to the DM interaction and NNN *** results may come from the competition between the DM interaction and NNN *** DM interaction does not affect the critical behavior at the point of J_(2)=0.5,at which the systems always locate in the dimerized state.

Core axial power distribution is an essential topic in pressurized water reactor(PWR)reactivity *** PWRs limit stability against axial core power oscillations at a high-cycle *** the‘‘camel’’peak power shape typically occurs with increasing depletion,the approaches used for the axial power control deserve special *** study aims to investigate the performance of different gadolinium rod design schemes in core axial power control during power operation based on the reactivity balance strategy,and to propose new multiconcentration gadolinium rod design *** the new design schemes,low-concentration gadolinium pellets are filled in the axial hump part of the gadolinium rod,and high-concentration gadolinium pellets are filled in the other *** impact of different gadolinium rod design schemes on the main core characteristics was evaluated using the nuclear design code package PCM developed by *** results show that the new gadolinium rod design significantly impacts the core axial power *** new design schemes can efficiently improve the core axial power distribution along the entire cycle by reducing the core axial power peak at the end of a cycle,enhancing the reactor operation stability,and achieving a better core safety margin,revealing a sizeable potential application.

The standing waves existing in radio telescope data are primarily due to reflections among the instruments,which significantly impact the spectral quality of the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST).Eliminating these standing waves for FAST is challenging given the constant changes in their phases and *** a ten-second period,the phases shift by 18°while the amplitudes fluctuate by 6 m ***,we developed the fast Fourier transform (FFT) filter method to eliminate these standing waves for every individual *** FFT filter can decrease the rms from 3.2 to 1.15 times the theoretical *** to other methods such as sine fitting and running median,the FFT filter achieves a median rms of approximately 1.2 times the theoretical expectation and the smallest scatter at 12%.Additionally,the FFT filter method avoids the flux loss issue encountered with some other *** FFT is also efficient in detecting harmonic radio frequency interference (RFI).In the FAST data,we identified three distinct types of harmonic RFI,each with amplitudes exceeding 100 m K and intrinsic frequency periods of 8.1,0.5,and 0.37 MHz,*** FFT filter,proven as the most effective method,is integrated into the H I data calibration and imaging pipeline for FAST (Hi FAST,https://***).

The removal of iodide(I^(−))from source waters is an effective strategy to minimize the formation of iodinated disinfection by-products(DBPs),which are more toxic than their brominated and chlorinated *** this work,a nanocomposite Ag-D201 was synthesized by multiple in situ reduction of Ag-complex in D201 polymer matrix,to achieve highly efficient removal of iodide from *** electron microscope/energy dispersive spectrometer characterization showed that uniform cubic silver nanoparticles(AgNPs)evenly dispersed in the D201 *** equilibrium isotherms data for iodide adsorption onto Ag-D201 was well fitted with Langmuir isotherm with the adsorption capacity of 533 mg/g at neutral *** adsorption capacity of Ag-D201 increased with the decrease of pH in acidic aqueous solution,and reached themaximum value of 802 mg/g at pH *** was attributed to the oxidization of I^(−),by dissolved oxygen under the catalysis of AgNPs,to I2 which was finally adsorbed as ***,the aqueous solutions at pH 7–11 could hardly affect the iodide *** adsorption of I^(−)was barely affected by real water matrixes such as competitive anions(SO_(4)^(2−),NO_(3)^(−),HCO3−,Cl^(−))and natural organic matter,of which interference of NOM was offset by the presence of Ca^(2+).The proposed synergistic mechanism for the excellent performance of iodide adsorption by the absorbent was ascribed to the Donnan membrane effect caused by the D201 resin,the chemisorption of I^(−)by AgNPs,and the catalytic effect of AgNPs.

The evolution of Ce-containing inclusions and its correlation with the reoxidation of liquid steel during protective atmosphere electroslag remelting(ESR)of heat-resistant steel were *** reoxidation of liquid steel took place during the ESR,resulting in the oxygen pickup from 0.0014 to 0.0053 wt.%.The inclusions in the consumable electrode,liquid metal pool and remelted ingot are Ce_(2)O_(2)S and Ce_(2)O,inclusions *** inclusions in the remelted ingot are originated from three ways:(I)the original inclusions from the electrode;(Il)the newly formed Ce_(2)O_(2)S and Ce_(2)O_(3) inclusions in the liquid metal pool by reoxidation remaining still in remelted ingot;(Ili)the newly generated Ce2O2S and Ce_(2)O_(3) inclusions during cooling and solidification of liquid *** relative proportions of Ce_(2)O_(3) inclusions in liquid metal pool and remelted ingot are 41% and 76.5%,*** inclusions ranging from 2 to 5μm in the remelted ingot take up 55%,followed by the inclusions smaller than 2μm(43%of total inclusions).The number proportion of the Ce_(2)0,inclusions in the liquid metal pool which were removed by floating up into slag is 1.96×10-5%.
