Simulation of Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Fracturing in Shale Gas Reservoir

In order to fracture shale gas reservoir with carbon dioxide as the working fluid,laboratory experiments were firstly conducted to measure the influence of carbon dioxide immersion on shale rock's properties,and then the coupling mechanism between stress and seepage during hydraulic fracturing was simulated based on cohesive zone *** fracturing ability of carbon dioxide and water was also compared under the same working conditions,and finally sensitivity analysis(including elastic modulus of shale,filtration coefficient,pump rate and viscosity of carbon dioxide)were conducted based on field *** results show that,the elastic modulus of shale increased by 32.2%,the Poisson's ratio decreased by 40.3%and the compressive strength decreases by 22.9%after geothermal reaction with carbon dioxide under 30 MPa and 335.15 K for 2 *** with water fracturing,carbon dioxide fracturing induces longer fracture(increased by 25.3%)and narrower fracture(decreased to 40.8%).The fracture tends to get longer and narrower with increasing elastic modulus of *** filtration coefficient increases,the maximum width of fracture decreases significantly,whereas the length changes *** the length and maximum width of fracture increase with increasing pump rate,however the changing rate of length tends to *** influence of viscosity of carbon dioxide on both fracture width and length is negligible,which validates the stable feasibility of carbon dioxide fracturing in different formation conditions.

Spatio-temporal changes in rice area at the northern limits of the rice cropping system in China from 1984 to 2013

Rice area has been expanding rapidly during the past 30 years under the influence of global change in northeastern China, which is the northernmost region of rice cultivation in China. However, the spatio-temporal dynamic changes in rice area are still unclear, although they may have important policy implications for environmental protection and adaptation to climate change. In this study, we aimed to identify the dynamic changes of the rice area in Heilongjiang Province of northeastern China by extracting data from multiple Landsat images. The study used ground quadrats selected from Google Earth and the extraction of a confusion matrix to verify the accuracy of extraction. The overall accuracy of the extracted rice area was higher than 95% as a result of using the artificial neural network （ANN） classification method. The results showed that the rice area increased by approximately 2.4×10^6 ha during the past 30 years at an annual rate of 8.0×10^4 ha, and most of the increase occurred after 2000. The central latitude of the rice area shifted northwards from 46 to 47°N during the study period, and moved eastwards from 130 to 133°E. The rice expansion area accounted for 98% of the total change in rice area, and rice loss was notably rare. The rice expansion was primarily from dryland. In addition, rice cultivation in marshland and grassland played a minor role in the rice expansion in this region.

rGO aerogel embedded with organic–inorganic hybrid perovskite for lightweight broadband electromagnetic wave absorption

Organic–inorganic hybrid perovskites are quite promising candidates in the field of electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorption due to their unique physicochemical properties. However, it is still a considerable challenge to satisfy the light weight, broad bandwidth, and strong absorption properties simultaneously. Herein, the solution of methylammonium lead iodide (MAPbI3) perovskites was infiltrated into the pores of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) aerogels. After drying, a series of MAPbI3/rGO composite aerogel (MGA) materials were synthesized by anchoring the MAPbI3 perovskite nanoparticles to rGO sheets with the assistance of rGO templates. Through the adjustment of component ratios, excellent EMW absorption properties are obtained with the synergistic effects of polarization loss, conduction loss, and multiple reflection and scattering of MAPbI3 and rGO. The porous structure of the aerogel and the suitable group distribution ratio allowed the MGA-4 samples to obtain excellent impedance matching and ultra-low density of ∼ 7.69 mg·cm−3. At a low filling ratio of 15 wt.%, the MGA-4 sample simultaneously achieves highly efficient and broadband EMW absorption performance at a thin thickness. The MGA-4 sample obtained a minimum reflection loss value of −64.35 dB and the effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) value of 5.4 GHz at a thickness of 2.08 mm and a maximum EAB (EABmax) value of 6.2 GHz under 2.22 mm. The MGA-5 sample obtained a maximum EAB value of 6.4 GHz with the thinckness of 2.16 mm. Furthermore, the simulation results of the radar cross-section (RCS) verified the component-optimized composites are capable of achieving excellent EMW attenuation. This paper provides a new approach and valuable reference for the development of hybrid perovskite-based microwave absorption materials with lightweight, ultra-broadband, and strong absorption properties.

Evolution and organic geochemical significance of bicyclic sesquiterpanes in pyrolysis simulation experiments on immature organic-rich mudstone

Sesquiterpanes are ubiquitous components of crude oils and ancient *** saturated hydrocarbons from simulated pyrolysis experiments on immature organic-rich mudstone collected from the Lower Cretaceous Hesigewula Sag were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS).C14 bicyclic sesquiterpanes,namely,8β(H)-drimane,8β(H)-homodrimane,and 8 a(H)-homodrimane were detected and identified on basis of their diagnostic fragment ions(m/z123,179,193,and 207),and previously published mass spectra data,and these bicyclic sesquiterpanes presented relatively regular characteristics in their thermal *** ratios 8β(H)-drimane/8β(H)-homodrimane,8β(H)-homodrimane/8 a(H)-homodrimane,and 8β(H)-drimane/8 a(H)-homodrimane all show a clear upward trend with increasing temperature below the temperature turning ***,all these ratios can be used as evolution indexes of source rocks in the immature-lowmaturity ***,the last two ratios may be more suitable than the first ratio as valid parameters for measuring the extent of thermal evolution of organic matter in the immature-low-maturity stage because their change amplitude with increasing temperature is more obvious.

Effect of surface retaining elements on rock stability:laboratory investigation with sand powder 3D printing

This study aims to investigate the benefcial efects of surface retaining elements (SREs) on the mechanical behaviors of bolted rock and roadway stability. 3D printing (3DP) technology is utilized to create rock analogue prismatic specimens for conducting this investigation. Uniaxial compression tests with acoustic emission (AE) and digital image correlation techniques have been conducted on 3DP specimens bolted with diferent SREs. The results demonstrate that the strength and modulus of elasticity of the bolted specimens show a positive correlation with the area of the SRE;the AE characteristics of the bolted specimens are higher than those of the unbolted specimen, but they decrease with an increase in SRE area, thus further improving the integrity of the bolted specimens. The reinforcement efect of SREs on the surrounding rock of roadways is further analyzed using numerical modelling and feld test. The results provide a better understanding of the role of SREs in rock bolting and the optimization of rock bolting design. Furthermore, they verify the feasibility of 3DP for rock analogues in rock mechanics tests.

NMSSM neutralino dark matter for CDFⅡW-boson mass and muon g-2 and the promising prospect of direct detection

Two experiments from the Fermilab, E989 and CDF II, have reported two anomalies for muon g-2 and W-boson mass that may indicate the new physics at the low energy scale. Here we examine the possibility of a common origin of these two anomalies in the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. Considering various experimental and astrophysical constraints such as the Higgs mass, collider data, flavor physics, dark matter relic density, and direct detection experiments, we find that lighter electroweakinos and sleptons can generate sufficient contributions to muon g-2 and mW. Moreover, the corresponding bino-like neutralino dark matter mass is in the ~ 180-280 Ge V range. Interestingly, the favored dark matter(DM) mass region can soon be entirely probed by ongoing direct detection experiments like Panda X-4T, XENONn T, LUX-ZEPLIN, and DARWIN.

Biostratigraphic correlation of the Ordovician black shales in Tarim Basin and its peripheral regions

Ordovician black shales are widely distributed in the Tarim Basin and its peripheral regions,and some of them may serve as potential hydrocarbon source *** present study of the Ordovician graptolite fauna from these shales,together with the yielded conodonts and chitinozoans etc.,permits a refined correlation of the *** mainly on a new collecting of the graptolites and a study of the faunas in Kalpin and Kuruktag regions,and the successful identification of the new graptolite material from a few drill cores within the basin,we are able to update our knowledge of the Ordovician in the regions,and draw some conclusions:(1) The most widespread distribution of the black shales in the Tarim Basin and its peripheral regions,which correspond to the Nemagraptus gracilis Zone,may be related to a global sea-level rise during this time interval.(2) Black shales of Ordovician occur most frequently and extensively in the Kuruktag(also spelled as Quruq Tagh) region in east-ern Tianshan Mountains,spanning Tremadocian to mid-Katian(*** Zone) temporally and extending southeastwards into Manjiaer *** black shales of the *** Zone may even extend into the central Tarim Basin.(3) Three different bio-and litho-facies belts(Bachu:carbonate platform and reef belt;Kalpin-Aksu:marginal platform and upper slope belt;Wushi:slope belt) are recognized in the northwestern Tarim Basin.(4) The internationally well-correlated Saergan black shale,which has been considered to possess high potential for hydrocarbon source rock,may possess a restricted distribution in the Kalpin and Aksu areas.

Isolated structures in two-dimensional optical superlattice

Overlaying commensurate optical lattices with various configurations called superlattices can lead to exotic lattice topologies and, in turn, a discovery of novel physics. In this study, by overlapping the maxima of lattices, a new isolated structure is created, while the interference of minima can generate various ＂sublattice＂ patterns. Three different kinds of primitive lattices are used to demonstrate isolated square, triangular, and hexagonal ＂sublattice＂ structures in a two-dimensional optical superlattice, the patterns of which can be manipulated dynamically by tuning the polarization, frequency, and intensity of laser beams. In addition, we propose the method of altering the relative phase to adjust the tunneling amplitudes in ＂sublattices＇. Our configurations provide unique opportunities to study particle entanglement in ＂lattices＂ formed by intersecting wells and to implement special quantum logic gates in exotic lattice geometries.

Systems pharmacology approach reveals the antiinflammatory effects of Ampelopsis grossedentata on dextran sodium sulfate-induced colitis

AIM To investigate the protective effects of Ampelopsis grossedentata(AMP) on dextran sulfate sodium(DSS)-induced colitis in mice based on systems pharmacology *** Systems pharmacology approach was used to predict the active ingredients, candidate targets and the efficacy of AMP on ulcerative colitis(UC) using a holistic process of active compound screening, target fishing, network construction and analysis. A DSSinduced colitis model in C57 BL/6 mice(n = 10/group) was constructed and treated with 5-aminosalicylic acid(100 mg/kg/d) and AMP(400 mg/kg/d) to confirm the underlying mechanisms and effects of AMP on UC with western blot analyses, polymerase chain reaction, histological staining and *** The therapeutic effects of AMP against DSS-induced colitis were determined in the beginning, and the results showed that AMP significantly improved the disease in general observations and histopathology analysis. Subsequent systems pharmacology predicted 89 corresponding targets for the four candidate compounds of AMP, as well as 123 candidate targets of UC, and protein-protein interaction networks were constructed for the interaction of putative targets of AMP against UC. Enrichment analyses on TNF-α and RANKL/RANK, a receptor activator of NF-κB signaling pathways, were then carried out. Experimental validation revealed that inflammation-related signaling pathways were activated in the DSS group, and AMP significantly suppressed DSS-induced high expression of IRAK1, TRAF6, IκB and NF-κB, and inhibited the elevated expression levels of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6 and *** AMP could exert protective effects on UC via suppressing the IRAK1/TRAF6/NF-κB-mediated inflammatory signaling pathways.
