Bioinspired flexible,high-strength,and versatile hydrogel with the fiberboard-and-mortar hierarchically ordered structure

The synthetic hydrogels with high water contents are promising for various applications,however,they usually exhibit low mechanical *** this work,inspired by the natural biological soft tissues,whose hierarchically ordered fibrous structures result in high strength and good flexibility,a flexible,high-strength,and versatile hydrogel with the fiberboard-and-mortar hierarchically ordered structure(HFMOS)is developed based on ultralong hydroxyapatite(HAP)nanowires and polyacrylic acid(PAA).The as-prepared HFMOS hydrogel has a high water content(~70 wt.%),dense structure,and excellent mechanical properties,and these properties are similar to those of the human cartilage and are superior to many hydrogels reported in the *** excellent mechanical properties of the HFMOS hydrogel originate from the combination of the fiberboard-and-mortar hierarchically ordered structure,reinforcement of ultralong HAP nanowires,strong interfacial strength,and multiple energy dissipation ***,thanks to the controllable components and injection procedure,the HFMOS hydrogel with a Janus structure is prepared for particular *** HFMOS hydrogel possesses abundant ordered water channels,and can be used for loading,release,and directed delivery of various functional ***,the as-prepared flexible,high-strength,and versatile HFMOS hydrogel possesses a great potential for various applications such as water purification,pollution treatment,biomedicine,nanofluidic devices,and high-performance structural materials.

Microstructure,texture evolution and strain hardening behaviour of the Mg-1Y and Mg-1Zn(wt%)alloys were investigated under room temperature *** characterization was performed by optical microscopy,scanning electron microscopy,electron back scattered diffraction and transmission electron *** experimental results show that Mg-1Zn alloy exhibits conventional three-stage strain hardening curves,while Mg-1Y alloy exhibits novel six-stage strain hardening *** Mg-1Y alloy,rare earth texture leads to weak tensile twinning activity in compression and consequently results in a moderate evolution to***,inefficient tensile twinning activity and weak slip-twinning interaction give rise to excellent ductility and high hardening capacity but low strain hardening *** Mg-1Zn alloy,basal texture leads to pronounced tensile twinning activity in compression and consequently results in rapid evolution to*** intense tensile twinning activity and strong slip-twinning interaction lead to high strain hardening rate but poor ductility and low hardening capacity.

Plant flavonoids have received considerable attention for their health ***,structure-activity relationships between flavonoids such as orientin and vitexin with similar structures are rarely *** the present study,molecular docking study suggested that orientin and vitexin suppressed inflammatory responses through the modulation of the mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)signaling ***,RAW264.7 cells with lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammation were used to evaluate the anti-inflammatory activities of orientin and vitexin,based on the inflammation-related cytokines production,quantitative real-time reverse transcription PCR,and western blotting *** a result,orientin or vitexin attenuated inflammatory responses through modulation of the MAPK/NF-κB signaling pathway by suppressing NF-κB translocation.

Abstract Linear Thomson scattering of a short pulse laser by relativistic electron has been investigated using computer simulations. It is shown that scattering of an intense laser pulse of -33 fs full width at half maximum, with an electron of γ0 = 10 initial energy, generates an ultrashort, pulsed radiation of 76 attoseconds with a photon wavelength of 2.5 nm in the backward direction. The scattered radiation generated by a highly relativistic electron has superior quality in terms of its pulse width and angular distribution in comparison to the one generated by lower relativistic energy electron.

Mixed-mode fast-slow oscillations in the frequency switching Duffing system with a 1:n frequency ratio

Sliding fast-slow oscillations are interesting oscillation patterns discovered recently in the Duffing system with frequency *** oscillations have been obtained with a fixed 1:2 low frequency ratio in the previous *** present paper aims to explore composite fast-slow dynamics when the frequency ratio is *** a result,a novel route to composite fast-slow dynamics is *** find that,when presented with variable frequency ratios in a 1:n fashion,the sliding fast-slow oscillations may turn into the ones characterized by the fact that the clusters of large-amplitude oscillations of relaxational type are exhibited in each period of the oscillations,and hence the mixedmode fast-slow *** on whether the transition of the trajectory is from the upper subsystem via the fold bifurcation or not,these interesting oscillations are divided into two classes,both of which are investigated *** study shows that,when the frequency ratio n is increased from n=3,newly created boundary equilibrium bifurcation points may appear on the original sliding boundary line,which is divided into smaller parts,showing sliding and downward crossing dynamical *** is the root cause of the clusters,showing large-amplitude oscillations of relaxational type,resulting in the formation of mixed-mode fast-slow ***,a novel route to composite fast-slow dynamics by frequency switching is ***,the effects of the forcing on the mixed-mode fast-slow oscillations are *** magnitude of the forcing frequency may have some effects on the number of large-amplitude oscillations in the *** magnitude of the forcing amplitude determines whether the fast-slow characteristics can be produced.

Impact of acoustic wave propagation characteristics on aerodynamic damping of rotor blades in a transonic axial compressor

Subgrid-scale model based on the vorticity gradient tensor for rotating turbulent flows

A new subgrid-scale(SGS)stress model is proposed for rotating turbulent flows,and the new model is based on the traceless symmetric part of the square of the velocity gradient tensor and the symmetric part of the vorticity gradient tensor(or the so-called vorticity strain rate tensor).The new subgrid-scale stress model is taken into account the effect of the vortex motions in turbulence,which is reflected on the anti-symmetric part of the velocity gradient *** addition,the eddy viscosity of the new model reproduces the proper scaling as O(y^3)near the ***,the new SGS model is applied in large-eddy simulation of the spanwise rotating turbulent channel *** simulating cases are selected to test the new *** results demonstrate that the present model can well predict the mean velocity profiles,the turbulence intensities,and the rotating turbulence *** addition,it needs no a second filter,and is convenient to be used in the engineering rotational flows.

Repair of peripheral nerve defects by nerve transposition using small gap bio-sleeve suture with different inner diameters at both ends

During peripheral nerve transposition repair, if the diameter difference between transposed nerves is large or multiple distal nerves must be repaired at the same time, traditional epineurial neurorrhaphy has the problem of high tension at the suture site, which may even lead to the failure of nerve suture. We investigated whether a small gap bio-sleeve suture with different inner diameters at both ends can be used to repair a 2-mm tibial nerve defect by proximal transposition of the common peroneal nerve in rats and compared the results with the repair seen after epineurial neurorrhaphy. Three months after surgery, neurological function, nerve regeneration, and recovery of nerve innervation muscle were assessed using the tibial nerve function index, neuroelectrophysiological testing, muscle biomechanics and wet weight measurement, osmic acid staining, and hematoxylin-eosin staining. There was no obvious inflammatory reaction and neuroma formation in the tibial nerve after repair by the small gap bio-sleeve suture with different inner diameters at both ends. The conduction velocity, muscle strength, wet muscle weight, cross-sectional area of muscle fibers, and the number of new myelinated nerve fibers in the biosleeve suture group were similar to those in the epineurial neurorrhaphy group. Our findings indicate that small gap bio-sleeve suture with different inner diameters at both ends can achieve surgical suture between nerves of different diameters and promote regeneration and functional recovery of injured peripheral nerves.
