Nuclear factor Y is a ubiquitous heterotrimeric transcription factor complex conserved across eukaryotes that binds to CCAAT boxes,one of the most common motifs found in gene promoters and *** the last 30 years,research has revealed that the nuclear factor Y complex controls many aspects of brain development,including differentiation,axon guidance,homeostasis,disease,and most recently ***,a complete understanding of transcriptional regulatory networks,including how the nuclear factor Y complex binds to specific CCAAT boxes to perform its function remains *** this review,we explore the nuclear factor Y complex’s role and mode of action during brain development,as well as how genomic technologies may expand understanding of this key regulator of gene expression.

Dune barrier systems represent highly sought-after coastal landscapes for tourism and urban development around the world. However, a century ago, they were considered hazardous environments due to their great dynamic nature. As a result, stabilization practices were considered necessary. The systematic introduction of fast-growing exotic trees helped stabilize the sand, making it easier for tourism urbanization to take place, but also leading to erosion processes. This paper aims to assess long-term changes in vegetation cover over a large temperate barrier in Argentina. This complex region includes urban resorts, afforestation zones, and protected areas. A GIs-based geospatial analysis was conducted using a large satellite database(> 350 images), and the future evolution of the vegetation was modeled. The results revealed two primary spatiotemporal patterns associated with a gradual expansion of vegetation cover, accompanied by a concurrent reduction in sandy areas. In 1986, the dune area comprised 75% more surface than vegetation, whereas in 2021, it represented 60% less than vegetation. Furthermore, the 2050 scenario suggests a potential 40% reduction of dunes in certain areas. It is necessary to enhance management actions aimed at maintaining dune mobility and ensuring local and regional sediment balance. Long-term management strategies must focus on restoring native plant communities and controlling invasive species, and avoiding new dune fixation initiatives based on the introduction of exotic species.

Heusler compounds attract a great deal of attention from researchers thanks to a wealth of interesting properties,among which is *** we perform an extensive study of the superconducting and elastic properties of the cubic(full-)Heusler family using a mixture of ab initio methods,as well as interpretable and predictive machine-learning *** analyzing the statistical distributions of these properties and comparing them to anti-perovskites,we recognize universal behaviors that should be common to all conventional superconductors while others turn out to be specific to the material *** total,we discover a total of eight hypothetical materials with critical temperatures above 10 K to be compared with the current record of T_(c)=4.7 K in this ***,we expect most of these materials to be highly ductile,making them potential candidates for the manufacture of wires and tapes for superconducting magnets.

We conducted a large-scale density-functional theory study on the influence of the exchange-correlation functional in the calculation of electronic band gaps of ***,we use the large materials data set that we have recently proposed to benchmark 21 different functionals,with a particular focus on approximations of the meta-generalized-gradient *** these data with the results for 12 functionals in our previous work,we can analyze in detail the characteristics of each approximation and identify its strong and/or weak *** confirming that mBJ,HLE16 and HsE06 are the most accurate functionals for band gap calculations,we reveal several other interesting functionals,chief among which are the local slater potential approximation,the GGA AK13LDA,and the meta-GGAs HLE17 and *** also compare the computational efficiency of these different *** on these data,we investigate the potential for improvement of a promising subset of functionals by varying their internal *** identified optimal parameters yield a family of functionals fitted for the calculation of band ***,we demonstrate how to train machine learning models for accurate band gap prediction,using as input structural and composition data,as well as approximate band gaps obtained from density-functional theory.

The water crisis is one of the biggest human problems in developing countries,especially in semi-arid regions where it can form an obstacle to irrigation and cultivation,cattle raising and people's *** construction of small dams/reservoirs are a possible solution to remediate this *** infrastructures must be located in suitable areas to be *** study aimed to find the most suitable locations for small dams/reservoirs in the Tete province region,Mozambique,which has a pronounced water deficit A Geographical Information system(GIs)based approach was used to implement a multicriteria evaluation(MCE)analysis through an Analytic Hierarchical Process(AHP),which included local experts’*** main categories of suitability were identified:"Not suitable”(15%of total area),"Modestly suitable"(78%),and“suitable"(7%).We found that 35 of the 38(92%)abandoned small dams/reservoirs were in areas classified as“Modestly suitable”confirming the robustness of our *** also found that most of the dams/reservoirs currently operating(78%)and planned(73%)are in modestly suitable *** finding suggests that the decision to construct dams/reservoirs may not have considered the most critical suitability factors identified in this *** data and/or additional criteria are required for the full understanding of finding out why so many dams/reservoirs failed before building new ones to address the population’s water needs in the region.

The complex and mostly multiple and unknown aetiology of neurodegenerative diseases always give way to an intricate scenario of dying tissue that involves multiple cell mediators and cell *** neurodegenerative diseases of the central nervous system(CNs)share common mechanisms,regardless their origin:oxidative stress,neuroinflammation and cell ***,retinal degenerative diseases,with or without a genetic cause,as retinitis pigmentosa(RP),glaucoma,agerelated macular degeneration(AMD)or diabetic retinopathy(DR)do not differ in their basic mechanisms of cell death neither one to another,nor from those observed in other CNs diseases as Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s(Cuenca et al.,2014).Indeed,the therapeutic findings should be able to be more or less easily extrapolated between these conditions,as far as they are directed to common dartboards.

Providing nest-boxes as surrogate tree cavities can be of great importance to increase the breeding populations of cavity-nesting birds in managed ***,the exact placement of nest-boxes should be taken into consideration to enhance their occupancy according to species-specific *** this study,we investigated which factors can better predict nest-box occupancy by the Great Tit(Parus major)in eucalypt *** used generalised linear mixed-effects models to analyse the influence of topography,nest-box positioning,vegetation cover and landscape variables on three-year occupancy records from 80 newly provided ***-random patterns of nest-box occupancy were found with respect to all categories except *** suggest that Great Tits prefer to occupy high-placed nest-boxes,close to areas that can provide them with supplementary resources either within or in the vicinity of the stand(i.e.,trees other than eucalypts,riparian vegetation,and large patches of adjacent habitats).Overall,this study provides important recommendations for nest-box placement and spatial distribution in managed forests and enhances the potential of nest-box interventions as a biodiversity offset and management tool.
