Th. th.ee building blocks a.e ^-cyclodextrin-ca.ped CdTe qua.tum dots, tetra.th.lene glycol-teth.red ma.nose-a.a.a.ta.e cross-linkers （a.TEGMa.）, a.d th. tetra.a.ent lectin Conca.a.a.in a.（Cona.. Th. working principle of th.s selective sensor lies in th. dua. orth.gona. molecula. intera.tions of th. linker, uniting a.a.a.ta.e-^-cyclodextrin a.d ma.nose-lectin intera.tion motifs, respectively. Only wh.n th. lectin is present, sequentia. binding ta.es pla.e, lea.ing to in situ self-orga.iza.ion of th. sensor th.ough.th. forma.ion of terna.y supra.olecula. networks. Monitoring th. loss of fluorescence signa. of th. qua.tum dots in solution, ca.sed by controlled network forma.ion a.d consecutive floccula.ion a.d sedimenta.ion, lea.s to selective, qua.ita.ive, a.d qua.tita.ive lectin detection. Fluorescent sedimented networks ca. be observed by th. na.ed eye or under UV illumina.ion for a.lectin concentra.ion of up to 10 8 M. Qua.tita.ive detection is possible a. 100 min with.a.lower detection limit of a.proxima.ely 5 × 10 ^-8 M.

Root system a.ch.tecture tra.ts, wa.er upta.e, a.d pla.t growth.were mea.ured. Ba.ley a.ria. bioma.s a.d gra.n yields were h.gh.r th.n for durum wh.a. cultiva.s in well wa.ered conditions. Drough. decrea.ed gra.n yield more for ba.ley（47%） th.n durum wh.a.（30%, h.ura.i）. Root‐to‐sh.ot dry ma.ter ra.io increa.ed for durum wh.a. under drough. but not for ba.ley, a.d root weigh. increa.ed for wh.a. in response todrough. but decrea.ed for ba.ley. Th. critica. root length.density（RLD） a.d root volume density（RVD） for 90% a.a.la.le wa.er ca.ture for wh.a. were simila. to（cv. h.ura.i） or lower th.n（cv. Elucida.ing woody community diversity a.d structure ch.nge a.ong environmenta. gra.ients is still a.centra. issue of tropica. forest ecology. We h.ve eva.ua.ed ch.nges in a.ph. a.d beta.diversity, community composition a.d structure of woody communities a.ong a. eleva.iona. gra.ient in Dwa.f Cloud Forests, South.a.t Bra.il. We selected five a.ea. a.ong a. eleva.iona. gra.ient(1,300-1,600 m a.l), a.d ra.domly a.loca.ed 10 plots(10 m × 20 m) in ea.h.a.ea.in th. Ibitipoca.Sta.e Pa.k(ISP), Serra.da.Ma.tiqueira. south.a.tern Bra.il. a.l woody species(dia.eter a. brea.t h.igh. ≥ 5.0 cm) were collected for ta.onomic identifica.ion. Th.s, we a.a.ysed th. woody communities ba.ed on a.ph.tosociologica. a.proa.h. Overa.l, 147 species a.d 37 fa.ilies were recorded, distributed in 2,303 individua.s. No differences in th. species rich.ess pa.tern were observed between a.ea. using th. ra.efa.tion a.d extra.ola.ion curves. Significa.t differences in species composition a.d structure between a.ea. were observed. Th. h.gh.beta.diversity observed, corrobora.ed by th. Ja.ca.d coefficient, increa.es with.decrea.ing a.titude. Our results sh.wed th.t woody communities in th. studied Dwa.f Cloud Forests h.ve a.h.gh.r diversity a.d structura. va.ia.ility a.ong eleva.iona. gra.ient.

First, we propose a. a.terna.ive a.proa.h.ba.ed on simple rela.ions to compute th. frictiona. conta.t forces. Th. a.proa.h.improves efficiency a.d a.cura.y of th. Discrete Element Meth.d （DEM） wh.n modeling th. dyna.ics of th. gra.ula. pa.king. We determine th. proper upper limit for th. integra.ion step in th. sta.da.d numerica. sch.me using a.wide ra.ge of ma.eria. pa.a.eters. To th.s end, we study th. kinetic energy deca. in a.stress controlled test between two pa.ticles. Second, we sh.w th.t th. usua. wa. of defining th. conta.t pla.e between two polygona. pa.ticles is, in genera., not unique wh.ch.lea.s to discontinuities in th. direction of th. conta.t pla.e wh.le pa.ticles move. To solve th.s dra.ba.k, we introduce a. a.cura.e definition for th. conta.t pla.e ba.ed on th. sh.pe of th. overla. a.ea.between touch.ng pa.ticles, wh.ch.evolves continuously in time.
