We experimentally designed dispersion-managed repeaterless transmission systems with a pre-compensation and post-compensation technique using multi-channel-chirped fiber Bragg gratings. The repeaterless transmission link supports a single channel（1548.51 nm） with a 10 Gbps repeaterless transmission system over 300 km standard single-mode fiber（SSmF）. In the system design, two distributed Raman amplifiers（DRAs） were used to improve the signal level propagated along the 300 km SSmF. The co-propagating DRA provided 15 dB on–off gain and the counter-propagating produced 32 dB on–off gain at the signal wavelength. The experiment results show that the post-compensation configuration achieves an optimal performance with a bit error rate at 1 × 10-9.

The objective of this study was to convert biochar,a byproduct generated from the hydrothermal process(in oxygen-limited environment)of biomass(e.g.,corn stover),into value-added *** specific,three-dimensional(3D)biochar-containing precursor sponge,which was made by using electrospun polymer nanofibers as skeleton support,was fabricated via an innovative *** weight ratio of biochar to polymer(in the precursor sponge)was 2/1,and it appeared that the biochar weight ratio could be further *** heat treatments(i.e.,stabilization in air and carbonization in argon),the precursor sponge was converted into carbon nanofibrous sponge that had the porosity of~90 vol%,the BET surface area of~51.7 m^(2) g^(−1),and the carbon content of~95 wt%;and it was mechanically elastic/*** electrochemical study indicated that,the carbon nanofibrous sponge could be utilized for making supercapacitor electrode with excellent rate capability and high kinetic *** study would not only demonstrate a high-value application of hydrothermally generated biochar,but also provide a facile while novel approach for the fabrication of carbon nanofibrous sponge which could be potentially used for various applications(particularly the energy storage application).

Chronic high-fat diet(HFD)consumption not only promotes obesity and insulin resistance,but also causes bone loss through mechanisms that are not well ***,we fed wild-type CD-1 mice either chow or a HFD(43%of energy from fat)for 18 weeks;HFD-fed mice exhibited decreased trabecular volume(-28%)and cortical thickness(-14%)compared to chow-fed *** HFD-fed mice,bone loss was due to reduced bone formation and mineral apposition,without obvious effects on bone *** feeding also increased skeletal expression of sclerostin and caused deterioration of the osteocyte lacunocanalicular network(LCN).In mice fed HFD,skeletal glucocorticoid signaling was activated relative to chow-fed mice,independent of serum corticosterone *** therefore examined whether skeletal glucocorticoid signaling was necessary for HFD-induced bone loss,using transgenic mice lacking glucocorticoid signaling in osteoblasts and osteocytes(HSD2^(OB/OCY)-tg mice).In HSD2^(OB/OCY)-tg mice,bone formation and mineral apposition rates were not suppressed by HFD,and bone loss was significantly ***,in HSD2^(OB/OCY)-tg mice fed HFD,both Wnt signaling(less sclerostin induction,increased Pmatched *** osteocyte LCN remained intact in HFD-fed HSD2^(OB/OCY)-tg *** fed a HFD,HSD2^(OB/OCY)-tg mice also increased their energy expenditure and were protected against obesity,insulin resistance,and ***,glucocorticoid signaling in osteoblasts and osteocytes contributes to the suppression of bone formation in HFD-fed *** glucocorticoid signaling is also an important determinant of glucose uptake in bone,which influences the whole-body metabolic response to HFD.

Introduction: Advanced laryngeal and hypopharyn- geal cancers are aggressive tumors with a poor prog- nosis. multiple lymph node metastases often occur in the neck as well as in the upper mediastinum and thus upper mediastinal dissection is crucial to im- proving the cure rate. However, excessive mediastinal dissection can increase postoperative morbidity and mortality making it important to employ the proper technique and appropriate extent of dissection. In the present study, we aimed to determine the need and the prognostic importance of mediastinal dissection in patients with advanced carcinoma of the upper aerodigestive tract. methods: A retrospective review of the records of 30 patients who underwent (phar- ynxgo) laryngectomy for advanced squamous cell carcinomas was done. 17 patients had laryngeal car- cinomas, 13 had hypopharyngeal carcinomas. The mediastinal dissection was designed to remove mainly the paratracheal and retrooesophageal lymph nodes. Results: 60 neck dissections and 30 mediastinal dis- section were performed in 30 patients and yielded positive nodes were found in 20/30 patients. Neck nodes were positive in 9/17 of the patients with la-ryngeal cancer and 11/13 of the patients with hypo- pharyngeal cancers respectively. Positive nodes were detected in the neck regardless of T stage. The medi- astinal nodes were positive in 0% of the patients with laryngeal cancer. Upper mediastinal metastases were detected positive in 6/13 of the hypopharyngeal pa-tients. In these patients, mediastinal metastases were associated with tumors greater than 35 mm. The ma- jority of positive paratracheal nodes were less than 1 cm in diameter and appeared negative preoperatively. 0% of the patients had positive paratracheal nodes alone in a histologically negative cervical neck dissec-tion Regarding the appropriate extent of dissection, no major complications were observed. Introduction: for organ and function preservation, chemoradiotherapy is gaining popularity for primary treatment of advanced head and neck cancer, re- serveing surgery for salvage. methods: Retrospective outcome analysis to determine the results of salvage surgery after failure of primary treatment of advan- ced head and neck cancer by chemoradiotherapy. 104 patients with advanced head and cancer were initially treated by chemoradiotherapy. Follow-up was evalu- ated in 27 patients undergoing salvage surgery for re- current tumor (larynx n = 13;oral cavity n = 9;hypo- pharynx n = 5). The initial tumor is stage T3 in 11 cases and T4 in 16 cases. 10 patients had primary tumors stage III and 17 patients had tumors stage IV. Results: One postoperative death occured following surgery. The overall incidence of complications was 9/ 27 (%). Recurrent disease developed at the primary initially treated in 25 cases and in the neck in 2 cases after a mean follow-up of 11 months (3 - 136 months). After salvage surgery, loco-regional recurrence and/ or distant disease developed in 10/27 patients after a mean follow-up of 4 months. 6/10 (60%) patients died after re-recurrence despite salvage chemotherapy. Conclusion: Salvage surgery after failure of initial chemoradiotherapy is burdened with high morbi- dity and bad oncological outcome. We demonstrated that it is difficult to salvage locally recurrent head and neck cancer especially at more advanced T-stages or when tumor recur. The limited effect of surgical salvage for recurrent tumor need to be addressed when choosing the initial treatment plan.

＜正＞Three-component photoresists were prepared from hyperbranched polyester, multifunctional acrylate monomers and photoinitiator. The hyperbranched resin had -COOH, -OH and methacryloxy groups on their chain ends. The dried resist on glass substrate showed H- HB pencil hardness. Sensitivity and contrast upon UV exposure were tunable by development solution and the amount of photoinitiator. In a case, high sensitivity with E0 -5.5 mJ/cm2 and high contrast with μ-8were obtained for resist exposed with a mixed UV light and developed with TmAH aqueous. The resist exhibited a unique linear relationship on exposure time with etching depth. This property provided a controlling of surface profile of micro optical elements fabricated with photoresists. microlens arrays （200×200 μm） were prepared with a moving-mask using this photoresist.

王甫洲泄水闸座落在砂砾石垫层上，系平底闸，共２３孔，每孔净宽１４．５ｍ，高１５．１７ｍ，闸室顺水流方向长３３．０ｍ，闸底板和闸墩厚均为２．５ｍ，闸室采用两孔一联的“Ⅱ”型结构。由于泄水闸的平面尺寸较大、厚度相对较薄，加之其所在地区的地下水富含硫酸根离子，因此，对泄水闸的施工提出了较高的要求。施工过程中，在建基面以上５０ｃｍ范围内使用荆门水泥厂生产的５２５号抗硫酸水泥，上部采用光化水泥厂生产的４２５号矿渣硅酸盐水泥；为了防止闸底板和闸墩出现裂缝，施工时采取了严格按设计和规范要求组织施工、合理安排施工程序和进度、降低混凝土浇筑温度等措施，保证了混凝土的施工质量。经检查，泄水闸闸墩和底板至今未发现裂缝。１９９８年７月３０日，通过了部、省联合验收委员会的验收。

Status monitoring and health assessment of Luhuitou fringing reef of Sanya, Hainan, China

The monitoring survey and health assessment for benthic community were carried out in Luhuitou fringing reef of Sanya, Hainan, China in 2002. monitoring survey included manta tow, line intercept transect, video transect and digital photograph. The mean live coral cover was 23.40%. Comparison of used monitoring methods showed that video transect can replace line intercept transect, and 50 m transect is better than 20 m transect in uneven coral region. Survey data and comparison with previous research work showed that Luhuitou fringing reef has been damaged severely and has a general declining trend with live coral cover from about 85% in the 1960s down to 20% in 2004, but it still has quite high biodiversity and therefore has special protection value. main factors of Luhuitou fringing reef declining were human activities including reef rock digging and curios collecting, destructive fishing, sediment and pollutant from coastal land, and recent marine aquaculture. Only strengthening integrated management can reach improvement and restoration of Luhuitou declining coral reef ecosystem.

Projection of the Zhujiang(Pearl) River Delta's potential submerged area due to sea level rise during the 21st century based on CmIP5 simulations

Projections of potential submerged area due to sea level rise are helpful for improving understanding of the influence of ongoing global warming on coastal areas. The Ensemble Empirical mode Decomposition method is used to adaptively decompose the sea level time series in order to extract the secular trend component. Then the linear relationship between the global mean sea level （GmSL） change and the Zhujiang （Pearl） River Delta （PRD） sea level change is calculated： an increase of 1.0 m in the GmSL corresponds to a 1.3 m （uncertainty interval from 1.25 to 1.46 m） increase in the PRD. Based on this relationship and the GmSL rise projected by the Coupled model Intercomparison Project Phase 5 under three greenhouse gas emission scenarios （representative concentration pathways, or RCPs, from low to high emission scenarios RCP2.6, RCP4.5, and RCP8.5）, the PRD sea level is calculated and projected for the period 2006-2100. By around the year 2050, the PRD sea level will rise 0.29 （0.21 to 0.40） m under RCP2.6, 0.31 （0.22 to 0.42） m under RCP4.5, and 0.34 （0.25 to 0.46） m under RCP8.5, respectively. By 2100, it will rise 0.59 （0.36 to 0.88） m, 0.71 （0.47 to 1.02） m, and 1.0 （0.68 to 1.41） m, respectively. In addition, considering the extreme value of relative sea level due to land subsidence （i.e., 0.20 m） and that obtained from intermonthly variability （i.e., 0.33 m）, the PRD sea level will rise 1.94 m by the year 2100 under the RCP8.5 scenario with the upper uncertainty level （i.e., 1.41 m）. Accordingly, the potential submerged area is 8.57x103 km2 for the PRD, about 1.3 times its present area.
