Objective:Awareness regarding the negative effects of ultraviolet radiation are commonly neglected in Asian *** study sought to evaluate the ultraviolet radiation knowledge and photoprotective behaviors of university students in ***:This observational cross-sectional was conducted at Pelita Harapan University,***:A total of 89(45.4%)medical students and 107(54.6%)nonmedical students participated in this *** mean age was 21.03±2.03 years,and 46.4%of them had Fitzpatrick type III *** students as well as older students exhibited a higher level of knowledge regarding photoprotection(P≤0.05).Factors related to good photoprotective behaviors were sex,older age,and average expenditure on *** analysis revealed that a high level of knowledge regarding photoprotection was related to acceptable photoprotective behaviors(P=0.01;odds ratio=1.97;95%confidence interval=1.13-3.54).Conclusions:Knowledge regarding sun-related damage and practice of photoprotective behaviors were low among the *** results indicate that formal education and academic subjects should incorporate the topic of sun-related damage and promote the practice of photoprotective behaviors early on to increase awareness among populations.

介绍了铁皮坑开挖中测斜仪监测和三维有限元反分析的结果。所研究的铁皮坑为深度27 m、总直径26 m的圆形深基坑,最终开挖面以上土层以砂土为主。每个开挖阶段采用腰梁加固的咬合桩作为挡土墙对基坑进行支护。采用硬化土模型作为土体本构模型,反分析结果表明,桩墙位移的趋势与测斜仪测量的结果接近,最大位移为5.1mm。案例中胶结土的有效黏聚力c′取决于胶结砂层的厚度,约为50~200kPa。NSPT为标准贯入试验中分离式取样器打入土体30cm的锤击数。模拟结果表明,砂土模量约为1 400NSPT~2 000NSPT(单位:k Pa),而对于胶结砂,其模量为7 000NSPT。还研究了腰梁和外部荷载对咬合桩变形和受力的影响。结果表明,外部荷载对桩墙位移具有主导作用;同时,腰梁对减少桩墙位移没有明显作用。

Let G be a complex connected reductive group. Losev has shown that a smooth affine spherical G-variety X is uniquely determined by its weight monoid, which is the set of irreducible representations of G that occur in the coordinate ring of X. In this paper we use a combinatorial characterization of the weight monoids of smooth affine spherical varieties to classify：（a） all such varieties for G = SL（2） × C~×and（b） all such varieties for G simple which have a G-saturated weight monoid of full rank. We also use the characterization and Knop＇s classification theorem for multiplicity free Hamiltonian manifolds to give a new proof of Woodward＇s result that every reflective Delzant polytope is the moment polytope of such a manifold.

From a library of five crown ether macrocycles with different ring sizes and redox-active moieties,such as tetrathiafulvalene(TTF)and naphthalene dimiide(NDI),directional heterocircuit[3]rotaxanes were *** an axle with two binding sites with different steric accessibility,the concept of integrative self-sorting was applied to program the sequence of functional units in heteropseudo[3]*** on binding strength and ring size of the smaller macrocycles,different heteropseudo[3]rotaxane selectivities and stabilities were determined by 2D NMR spectroscopy and tandem mass spectrometry.A heteropseudo[3]rotaxane with rotaxane-like behaviour was isolated chromatographically,displaying electrochemically“frustrated”properties.A robust synthetic procedure was developed allowing the synthesis of four new hetero[3]rotaxanes incorporating specific sequences of functional *** pseudoisomeric rotaxanes which have the naphthalene diimide subunit at two different positions show distinct electrochemical *** calculations suggest that this differences could arise from a folding of the structure,in which the redox-active moieties stack with a stopper *** study presents a blueprint for the construction of hetero[3]rotaxanes with sequential control of the functional units along the track of the axle and paves the way to extend the functionality of mechanically interlocked molecules.

Preliminary assessment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma incidence in the Philippines: a second look at published data from four centers

In endemic regions such as southern China and Southeast Asia, the annual incidence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC) ranges from 3 to 30 per 100,000. In the Philippines, the estimated incidence in 2010 was 1.2 per 100,000. However, this rate is based on data collected from registries covering only two regions in the country. Here, we report the findings from our study to better approximate the incidence of NPC in the Philippines. Between September 1, 2011 and August 31, 2012, data were collected from 49 patients from 4 different institutions—University of Santo Tomas, Makati Medical Center, Philippine Oncology Center Corporation, and Cardinal Santos Memorial Medical Center—using a NPC screening questionnaire. Crude incidence was 0.09 per 100,000. Age-standardized incidences using Segi and WHO standards were 2.08 and 1.79 per 100,000, respectively. Of the 49 patients, 31 were males and 18 were females, and 71% of patients were between 30 and 59 years old. WHO types II and III represented 22% and 78% of the subjects, respectively, and 75.5% of cases were locally advanced(stages III–IVB). Although the age-standardized incidence from the 4 institutions was numerically higher than the published age-standardized incidence(2.07 per 100,000 vs. 1.2 per 100,000), two-proportion z-test showed no significant difference between them(P = 0.68). A more concerted effort is needed for a better approximation of the country's NPC disease burden.

Dear Editor, Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase （PEPC） is the essential enzyme for initial carbon fixation in C4 photosynthesis. The C4-PEPC evolved from a non-photosynthetic C3 ancestor by subtle sequence changes resulting in distinctly different kinetic and regulatory characteristics （Svensson et al., 1997）. Malate and aspartate, which are formed from the carboxyla- tion product of PEPC, serve as feedback inhibitors of the PEPC （Wedding et al., 1990）. Higher malate or aspartate concen- trations during C4 photosynthesis require a reduced sensitiv- ity towards the feedback inhibitors of the C4-PEPC （Jacobs et al., 2008）.
