The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CovV-2)infection is associated with a hyperinflammatory state and lymphocytopenia,a hallmark that appears as both signature and prognosis of disease severity *** cytokine storm and a sustained inflammatory state are commonly associated with immune cell depletion,it is still unclear whether direct SARS-Cov-2 infection of immune cells could also play a role in this scenario by harboring viral *** found that monocytes,as well as both B and T lymphocytes,were susceptible to SARS-Cov-2 infection in vitro,accumulating double-stranded RNA consistent with viral RNA replication and ultimately leading to expressive T cell *** addition,flow cytometry and immunofluorescence analysis revealed that SARS-Cov-2 was frequently detected in monocytes and B lymphocytes from coronavirus disease 2019(CoVID-19)*** rates of SARS-Cov-2-infected monocytes in peripheral blood mononuclear cells from CoVID-19 patients increased over time from symptom onset,with SARS-CoV-2-positive monocytes,B cells,and CD4+T lymphocytes also detected in postmortem lung *** results indicated that SARS-CoV-2 infection of blood-circulating leukocytes in covID-19 patients might have important implications for disease pathogenesis and progression,immune dysfunction,and virus spread within the host.

On the Distribution of the Minimum or Maximum of a Random Number of i.i.d. Lifetime Random Variables

Statisticians are usually concerned with the proposition of new distributions. In this paper we point out that a unified and concise derivation procedure of the distribution of the minimum or maximum of a random number N of indepen-dent and identically distributed continuous random variables Yi,{i = 1,2,…,N} is obtained if one compounds the probability generating function of N with the survival or the distribution func-tion of Yi. Expressions are then derived in closed form for the density, hazard and quantile func-tions of the minimum or maximum. The methodology is illustrated with examples of the distributions proposed by Adamidis and Loukas (1998), Kus (2007), Tahmasbi and Rezaei (2008), Barreto-Souza and Cribari-Neto (2009), Cancho, louzada, and Barriga (2011) and louzada, Roman and Cancho (2011).

Improvement of the Quality of Brazilian Conilon through Wet Processing: A Sensorial Perspective

Conilon coffee represents almost 20% of all coffee production in the Brazilian territory;however, it is inexpressive in relation to the sensory quality when compared to Arabica coffee. It is noteworthy that the coffee from the species Coffea canephora PIERRE has a denser sensorial profile, is less sweet, less acidic and with strong pronunciation of the body at the time of tasting. This study has unprecedentedly applied the use of starter cultures (yeast) to optimize and modify the metabolic pathways and consequently the sensorial quality perceived by Q-graders. The experiments were conducted in a randomized block design with five replicates, in the 3 × 4 factorial scheme, with three fermentation times—24, 48 and 72 hours and four wet processing tests—Washed, Yeast fermentation, Fully washed without yeast and Fully washed with yeast. The sensorial results indicate a new perspective for the application of wet processing with starter cultures for Conilon coffee. They indicate gains in sensory scale, opening a new phase of studies on spontaneous and induced fermentation for Conilon coffee in Brazil and worldwide.

The consumption of specialty coffees has been growing year after year, indicating that several niches and market forms according to the sensorial orientation of the consumers, as well as the cupping tasters and agents are responsible for the composition of blends, and for the physical and sensory classification of the coffees in the industry. This study presented 5 methods of spontaneous and induced fermentation to different North American cupping tasters, in order to evaluate coffee quality potential, based on the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) protocol. During the months of May to July of 2017, 150 coffee samples were evaluated. Initial results indicate that North American cupping tasters evaluated dry fermented coffees using yeast culture as superiors, in the sensorial aspect, than the more conventional methods in Brazil. Such indication opens new discussions on the acceptance of a determined product, followed by the potential for modification of the sensory route as of the fermentation that will affect the attributes.

Developing a protocol based on the Brazilian Dietary Guidelines for individual dietary advice in the primary healthcare:theoretical and methodological bases

To describe the methodology of development of a protocol for application of the Brazilian Dietary Guidelines by primary healthcare professionals in individual dietary advice.A five-step approach was followed:(1)format definition;(2)definition of the instrument for assessment of individuals’food consumption;(3)Dietary Guidelines’content extraction;(4)protocol content development;(5)content and face *** example from Brazil was displayed with the development of a protocol to guide healthcare professional decision-making when providing nutrition advice based on the Brazilian Dietary *** instrument of the Brazilian Nutrition Surveillance System(SISVAN)was chosen to the food consumption assessment,which contains questions about the consumption of seven healthy or unhealthy food groups and one question about eating *** Guidelines’content extraction process led to the identification of recommendations related to the food consumption markers assessed by the SISVAN ***,a protocol was developed in a flowchart format,in which the professional’s conduct is guided by the answer given to each question of the SISVAN *** each‘non-compliant’answer(unhealthy eating practice),the professional is instructed how to provide recommendations and identify ***,experts and healthcare professionals highlighted pertinence,clarity and usability of the *** study provides the blueprint for the phase-wise development of protocols of application of the Dietary Guidelines and may contribute to promote healthier eating and ending malnutrition in all its forms.

Oral health of children under chemotherapy treatment

Purpose: To investigate the oral health status of children under chemotherapy and the effect of the treatment for childhood malignancies on oral health and on the presence and fi'equency of oral mucosa lesions。Methods: A total of 59±29 males and 30 females mean age 9.8±2.2 years old) children affected by cancer were evaluated。The children underwent clinical and radiographic examination, were alterations in teeth and soft tissues were recorded。Results: Caries prevalence was registered, and the mean DMFT was 3.0; mean value of Gingival Index was 1.16±0.55; xerostomia was present in 22.0% of the children and spontaneous oral bleeding in 14.0%。Oral mucositis was also present in 14.0% of the children。Conclusion: Oral health of children under chemotherapy treatment for different malignancies should be carefully followed due to the fi'equent manifestations of the therapy's side effects on the oral mucosa and to the difficulties to realize an oral treatment for those children due to their systemic condition。
