Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is the most frequent primary liver cancer and presents together with cirrhosis in most *** addition to commonly recognized risk factors for HCC development,such as hepatitis B virus/hepatitis C virus infection,age and alcohol/tobacco consumption,there are nutritional risk factors also related to HCC development including high intake of saturated fats derived from red meat,type of cooking(generation of heterocyclic amines)and contamination of foods with *** the contrary,protective nutritional factors include diets rich in fiber,fruits and vegetables,n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids and *** the patient is being evaluated for staging and treatment of HCC,special attention should be paid to nutritional support,including proper nutritional assessment and therapy by a multidisciplinary *** must be considered that these patients usually develop HCC on top of long-lasting cirrhosis,and therefore they could present with severe *** complications should be properly addressed and considered for nutritional *** addition to traditional methods,functional testing,phase angle and computed tomography scan derived skeletal muscle index-L3 are among the most useful tools for nutritional *** therapy should be centered on providing enough energy and protein to manage the increased requirements of both cirrhosis and *** with branched-chain amino acids is also recommended as it improves response to treatment,nutritional status and survival,and finally physical exercise must be encouraged and adapted to individual needs.

Measurements of Water-Air Flow Phenomena in a Chamber with a Rotating Shaft

The paper concerns the phenomena of the fluid film that occurs in the bearing chamber of an aircraft *** geometry of the system includes two concentric cylinders,between which there is a mixture of oil and *** fluid circulates in a closed *** rotary movement of the inner cylinder causes creation of the fluid film on the walls of the *** article proposes a measurement method that is allowing observation of this fluid film and,in particular,analysis of the movement of the air bubbles occurring in the *** own model of the bearing chamber with transparent walls was constructed for the *** the investigation,water was used instead of *** of the behaviour of the flow was possible thanks to video recordings made with the use of a fast-capture *** results presented in the paper include velocity magnitudes of the air bubbles in the fluid film in dependence on the rotational speed of the shaft and water volume fraction and with a range from 0.37 to 0.91 m/*** results presented in this article can be used for the bearing chamber numerical models validation.

Long-term engraftment of p18^(InK4C)-deficient hematopoietic stem cells is enhanced in the sublethally-irradiated recipients

non-myeloablative regimens for host conditioning have been widely used in clinical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation due to their reduced toxicity on the recipients. But a milder conditioning regimen may require a higher engrafting ability of donor stem cells in competing with endogenous stem cells. Thus, new strategies for enhancing the competitiveness of donor stem cells in non-myeloablative recipients would have important implications for current clinical stem cell trans- plantation. It is known that the absence of p18InK4C (p18) gene can enhance the self-renewal potential of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). We applied the approach of competitive bone marrow trans- plantation to evaluate the impact of p18 gene deletion on long-term engraftment of HSCs in sub- lethally irradiated hosts. We found that p18?/? HSCs had a significant advantage over wild-type HSCs during long-term engraftment in the mouse recipients that received a sub-lethal irradiation (5-Gy). The engraftment efficiency of p18?/? HSCs in the sub-lethally irradiated recipients was similar to that in the lethally irradiated (10-Gy) recipients. Our current study demonstrates that enhanced engraftment of donor HSCs in the absence of p18 does not strictly depend on the dose of irradiation used for host conditioning. Therefore, p18 might serve as a potential drug target for increasing the efficacy of stem cell transplant in the patients that are preconditioned with either a myeloablative or non-myeloablative regimen.

Perovskite type lanthanum manganite：Morpho-structural analysis and electrical investigations

Perovskite-type oxides of LaMnO3 were synthesized by means of the sol-gel method, in the presence of citric acid as gelling agent. The precursors used were Mn（nO3）2·H2O, La2O3, and naOH,mixed in the stoichiometric ratio to obtain perovskite materials. The obtained gel was heat-treated at 400, 600 and 800 ℃ respectively, for 6 h. X-ray diffraction and FT-IR spectroscopy were used to analyze the phase transformation as a function of temperature, and the Rietveld refinement was used in order to characterize the materials obtained structurally. The average crystallite size of the products was calculated from XRD data and the average particle size was measured from the TEM micrographs. At 600 ℃, the synthesized compound is well-crystallized, showcases a perovskite structure（Pm-3m space group）, and exhibits uniform and homogeneous hexagonally-shaped particles, with sizes in the 20-50 nm *** impedance measurements in the 20-2 × 10^6 Hz frequency range were carried out at different temperatures（26-115 ℃）, and the electrical conduction mechanism is discussed.

Antarctic Peninsula is experiencing one of the largest global warming events *** water bodies generated by the melting of snow in summer are numerous,and they might act as sentinels of climate change due to their rapid response and ability to integrate catchment *** in climate can influence the structure of microbial communities which dominate these freshwaters ***,we characterize three ponds at Cierva Point(Antarctic Peninsula)by examining their physico-chemical and morphological characteristics and we explored how different factors modify the structure of the microbial *** studied the abundance and biomass of heterotrophic bacteria,picocyanobacteria and picoeukaryote algae during January and February of two consecutive summers(2017 and 2018).We found that ponds had different limnological characteristics,due to their location,geomorphological features and presence of the surrounding flora and ***-chemical parameters as well as microbial community differed between ponds,months and *** 2017,most ponds were oligo to mesotrophic *** larger accumulated rainfall(as a result of environmental changes on the Antarctic Peninsula)during 2018,particularly in February,causes nutrient runoff into water *** affects those ponds with the highest seabird circulation,such as gentoo penguin,increasing *** a result,picoplanktonic abundances were higher,and the community structure shifts to a largely heterotrophic bacteria dominated *** results suggest that these communities could act as sentinels to environmental changes,anticipating a future with mostly hypertrophic ponds.

Helicobacter Pylori Infection and Lung Cancer： new Insights and Future Challenges

Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) is the causative agent of chronic gastritis and peptic ulcer diseases and is an important risk factor for the development functional dyspepsia, peptic ulceration, gastric adenocarcinoma and mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma. H. pylori has very high rates of infection in human populations, and it is estimated that over 50% of the world population is infected. Recently, certain extra-gastric manifestations, linked to H. pylori infection, have been widely investigated. noteworthy, a growing body of evidences supports an association between H. pylori infection with lung cancer. The present review intend to highlight not only the most recent evidences supporting this association, but also some missed points, which must be considered to validate this emerging association.
