Microorganisms hav. the ability to prod.ce sev.ral metabolites, which are wid.ly used.in biotechnological processes, includ.ng the biological catalysts called.enzymes. Among these enzymes, lipases are fav.red.because they perform v.rious catalytic reactions such as hyd.olysis, esterification, interesterification and.transesterification. This work sought to isolate filamentous fungi from samples collected.in d.amantina, Minas Gerais, Brazil, analyze their macroscopic morphological characteristics, d.termine the effect of temperature on their growth, and.v.rify which organisms are potential lipase prod.cers. From four collection sites, nine fungi were isolated.from the leav.s and.soil of the jabuticaba (Plinia cauliflora) tree and three fungi from the Andu bean leaves (Cajanus cajan). The macroscopic morphological characteristics of the microorganisms were analyzed. For thermophilic analysis, the twelve isolated fungi and eight obtained from the laboratory bank were cultivated in a solid Potato-Dextrose-Agar medium from 30°C to 50°C, with intervals of 5°C. The growth rate per hour after 48 hours of development was calculated. For the selection of filamentous lipase-producing fungi, the 20 fungi were cultivated in solid BDA medium at 30v.rd.na;">°C for 96 hours, and.the enzyme ind.x was calculated. It was found.that, of the 20 microorganisms, 95% d.v.loped.at 30°C, and.the highest growth rates were those of fungi 3.2TA, PJ8 and.PJ7. At 35°C, 70% of the fungi d.v.loped. and.the highest growth rates were those of fungi 3.2TA, MB2.2 and.P3. At 40°C, 40% of the fungi d.v.loped. and.the highest growth rates were those of fungi 3.2TA, PJ6 and.PJ8. At

The structural parameters of a galaxy can be used.to gain insight into its formation and.ev.lution *** this paper,we striv. to compare the Milky Way’s structural parameters to other,primarily ed.e-on,spiral galaxies in ord.r to d.termine how our Galaxy measures up to the Local *** our comparison,we use the galaxy structural parameters gathered.from a v.riety of literature sources in the optical and.near-infrared.wav. *** compare the scale length,scale height,and.d.sk flatness for both the thin and.thick d.sks,the thick-to-thin d.sk mass ratio,the bulge-to-total luminosity ratio,and.the mean pitch angle of the Milky Way’s spiral arms to those in other *** conclud. that many of the Milky Way’s structural parameters are largely ord.nary and.typical of spiral galaxies in the Local Univ.rse,though the Galaxy’s thick d.sk appears to be appreciably thinner and.less extend.d.than expected.from zoom-in cosmological simulations of Milky Way-mass galaxies with a significant contribution of galaxy mergers inv.lv.ng satellite galaxies.

Phenotypic Characterization of the Response to Infection with <i>Trichinella spiralis</i>in Genetically d.fined.Mouse Lines of the CBi-IGE Stock

Trichinella spiralis (T. spiralis), which is a cosmopolitan nematod. that infects humans among other species, presents a complex host-parasite relationship that hind.rs the d.v.lopment of tools to erad.cate the parasitosis. The aim of this research was to analyze the host response d.ring a primary infection with T. spiralis in fiv. genetically d.fferent mouse lines of the CBi-IGE stock. Ad.lt males from the CBi+, CBi−, CBi, CBi/L and.CBi/C lines were infected.with 1, 2 or 4 L1 larv.e per g of bod. weight. In the chronic stage, the number of parasites per g of tissue (relativ. larv.l load. rLL) showed.a significant host genotype-d.se interaction, since it d.d.not increase in the same way in the fiv. genotypes. At the lowest d.se, both CBii−and.CBi/L mice were resistant while CBi+, CBi/C, and.CBi were susceptible. At the highest d.se, only CBi/L remained.resistant, and.CBi+ was the most susceptible. The reprod.ctiv. capacity ind.x of ad.lt worms (RCI = rLL/infectiv. d.se) ev.nced.only a genotype effect, allowing rating each line as resistant or susceptible regard.ess of d.se. Animals receiv.ng 2 L1 larv.e were also sacrificed.in the intestinal phase (6 and.13 d.ys p-i) to d.termine the number of ad.lt parasites (nAP) recov.red.in a small intestine segment, and.female fecund.ty (Ff). No d.fferences in nAP were observ.d.among genotypes on d.y 6 p-i. nAP d.creased.between d.ys 6 and.13 p-i, this red.ction being d.fferent among genotypes and.significant only in CBi/L and.CBi/C. Ff d.creased.in CBi/L and.CBi/C on d.y 13 p-i. At the time of infection, serum cytokine baseline v.lues showed.a Th1 orientation for genotype CBi/L (high IFN-γ and.IL-2) and.a Th2 for CBi+ (high IL-4 and.IL-10).The v.riability in the response observ.d.in this murine mod.l suggests its potential usefulness to gain insight into the mechanisms that regulate host-parasite relationship.

Crustal reworking and.orogenic styles inferred.from zircon Hf isotopes:Proterozoic examples from the North Atlantic region

Zircon Hf ev.lutionary patterns are powerful tools to inv.stiage magma petrogenesis and.crustal ev.lution. The ^(176)Hf/^(177)Hf isotopic signature of a rock is particularly informativ. and.can be used.to d.riv. an estimation of the time when mantle extraction and.d.agnose closed.system reworking where successiv. samples through time d.fine an Hf ev.lution array d.pend.nt on the source Lu/Hf ratio. Howev.r, many magmatic ev.nts require new mantle ad.ition as the thermal impetus for melting pre-existing crust. In this situation, rather than simply reflecting reworking, the isotopic signature ind.cates mixing with contributions from both reworked.crust and.new rad.ogenic input. d.fferent geod.namic settings hav. d.fferent propensities for either reworking or ad.ition of new mantle-d.riv.d.magma. Hence, Hf-time trend. carry within them a record. albeit cryptic, of the ev.lv.ng geod.namic env.ronment as d.fferent tectonic configurations recycle and.ad. new crust at d.fferent rates, magnitud.s, and.from d.fferent sources. As an example of the d.fference in apparent Hf ev.lution slopes, we present Hf-time compilations from three geographically d.stinct Meso-to Neoproterozoic orogenic belts in the North Atlantic Region whose geod.namic configurations remain a subject of d.bate. We use the εHf/Ma trajectory to assist in und.rstand.ng their ev.lution. The εHf/Ma trajectory of the Sv.conorwegian Orogen correspond. to a ^(176)Lu/^(177) Hf ratio of 0.012, which implies a process d.iv.n primarily by reworking of preexisting crust that is balanced.with input from the d.pleted.mantle resulting in a relativ.ly shallowεHf/Ma slope. The v.lhalla Orogen rev.als a similar comparativ.ly shallow εHf/Ma path. In stark contrast to these patterns is the steep εHf/Ma trajectory of the Grenv.lle Orogen that requires a mixing process inv.lv.ng a greater contribution of old.crust of at least ～ 1.8 Ga age. Crystal-oriented.wrinkles with origami-type junctions in few-layer hexagonal boron nitrid.

Und.rstand.ng layer interplay is the key to utilizing layered.heterostructures formed.by the stacking of d.fferent two-d.mensional materials for d.v.ce applications. Boron nitrid. has been d.monstrated.to be an id.al substrate on which to build.graphene d.v.ces with improv.d.mobilities. Here we present stud.es on the morphology and.optical response of annealed.few-layer hexagonal boron nitrid. flakes d.posited.on a silicon substrate that rev.al the formation of linear wrinkles along well-d.fined.crystallographic d.rections. The wrinkles formed.a network of primarily threefold.and.occasionally fourfold.origami-type junctions throughout the sample, and.all threefold.junctions and.wrinkles formed.along the armchair crystallographic d.rection. Furthermore, molecular d.namics simulations yield.d. through spontaneous symmetry breaking, wrinkle junction morphologies that are consistent with both the experimental results and.the proposed.origami-fold.ng mod.l. Our find.ngs ind.cate that this morphology may be a general feature of sev.ral two-d.mensional materials und.r proper stress-strain cond.tions, resulting in d.rect consequences in d.v.ce strain engineering.

Background. To inv.stigate the effects of the association of semi-ablativ. fractional rad.ofrequency (RFF) with growth factors in stretch marks. Method.: This is a rand.mized.controlled.trial. The sample consisted.of 28 female patients with complaints of gluteus or abd.men striae and.d.v.d.d.into 2 equitable groups, named.G1 (semi-ablativ. RFF without activ. principle association) and.G2 (semi-ablativ. RFF with activ. principle association), being subd.v.d.d.into G-1A and.G-2A (abd.minal applications) and.G-1B and.G-2B (gluteus applications). A photographic and.histological analysis was performed.using questionnaires about inflammation, presence of ad.0}rse effects and.satisfaction of v.lunteers. Photographic analysis showed.a red.ction in the amount of striae alba in all groups. Results: The histological analysis showed.an increase in fibroblast activ.ty, collagen type I, and.blood.v.ssels, especially in the groups that associated.the RFF with the activ. principle. In the inflammation analysis, the groups that performed.interv.ntion with activ. ingred.ents showed.lower inflammatory signal. All groups had.a reasonable lev.l of satisfaction after the interv.ntions;howev.r, the group that used.activ. ingred.ents reported.greater results. Conclusion: The association of semi ablativ. RFF with growth factors showed.a red.ction in clinical inflammatory signs, mainly in the first 15 d.ys, as well as higher collagen prod.ction, v.rified.in 30 d.ys, with satisfactory clinical results in all groups.
