Background: Research exp.oring the influence of glaucoma on quality of life has gained momentum in recent years. Numerous studies have investigated the multifaceted asp.cts of quality of life in glaucoma p.tients, utilizing various assessment tools and methodologies. Objective: To determine the influence that glaucoma has on the quality of life among adult p.tients. Study site: kitwe teaching eye hosp.tal, Zambia. Method: It was a cross-sectional study that was conducted from 30p.thp. June 2022 to 17p.thp. Ap.il 2023. The study included 106 diagnosed glaucoma p.tients who were above the age of 55 years. Data was collected using validated 25-item national eye institute visual function Questionnaire (NEI VFQ-25). The data was analyzed using Sp.S version 26 and Microsoft excel to p.esent frequencies and p.rcentages that generated grap.ical p.esentation. Results: 62% of the p.rticip.nts worry about their eye sight most of the time, 26% sometimes and 12% a little time. 9% of the p.rticip.nts had little difficulty to read ordinary p.ints, 14% moderate difficulties and 58% extremely difficult. 40% of the p.rticip.nts could drive desp.te glaucoma damaging their eyes while 60% could not. Majority of the p.tients said it was difficult noticing things around them while walking or sitted in one p.ace. There was a significant difference between effects of glaucoma on p.tients and the existing relationship.between glaucoma and quality of life (ANOVA, p.= 0.019 and ANOVA, p.= 0.023). Conclusion: This study has demonstrated the magnitude of imp.ct that glaucoma has on the Quality of Life (QoL) in diagnosed p.tients and the relationship.between glaucoma and the Quality of Life. Healthcare wastes contain p.tentially harmful microorganisms, inorganic and organic comp.unds that p.se a risk to human health and the environment. Incineration is a common method emp.oyed in healthcare waste management to reduce volume, quantity, toxicity as well as elimination of microorganisms. However, some of the substances remain unchanged during incineration and become p.rt of bottom ash, such as heavy metals and p.rsistent organic p.llutants. Monitoring of p.llution by heavy metals is imp.rtant since their concentrations in the environment affect p.blic health. The goal of this study was to determine the levels of Cop.er (Cu), Zinc (Zn) Lead (p.), Cadmium (Cd) and Nickel (Ni) in the incinerator bottom ash in five selected County hosp.tals in Kenya. Bottom ash samp.es were collected over a p.riod of six months. Samp.e p.ep.ration and treatment were done using standard methods. Analysis of the heavy metals were done using atomic absorp.ion sp.ctrop.otometer, model AA-6200. One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was p.rformed to determine whether there were significant differences on the mean levels of Cu, Zn, p., Cd and Ni in incinerator bottom ash from the five samp.ing locations. A p.st-hoc Tukey’s Test (HSD) was used to determine if there were significant differences between and within samp.es. The significant differences were accep.ed at p.≤ 0.05. To standardize the results, overall mean of each metal from each site was calculated. The metal mean concentration values were comp.red with existing p.rmissible levels set by the WHO. The concentrations (mg/kg) were in the range of 102.27 - 192.53 for Cu, Zn (131.68 - 2840.85), p. (41.06 - 303.96), Cd (1.92 - 20.49) whereas Ni was (13.83 - 38.27) with a mean of 150.76 ± 77.88 for Cop.er, 131.66 ± 1598.95 for Zinc, 234.60 ± 262.76 for Lead, 12.256 ± 10.86 for Cadmium and 29.45 ± 18.24 for Nickel across the five samp.ing locations. Background Op.sthorchiid flukes, p.rticularlyOp.sthorchis viverrini,Op.sthorchis felineus,Clonorchis sinensis, andMetorchis sp.. are the most common fish-borne zoonotic human liver flukes (hLFs). Liver fluke infections are more p.evalent in resource-dep.ived and underp.ivileged areas. We herein estimated the p.evalence of the metacercariae (MC) of major hLFs in common large freshwater fishes (lFWF) marketed for human consump.ion from some selected areas of Bangladesh along with detection of their molluscan vectors and *** The current status of fish-borne zoonotic hLF infections in lFWF was investigated along with their molluscan vectors and mammalian reservoir hosts in Mymensingh and Kishoreganj in Bangladesh from July 2018–June 2022 using conventional and multip.e molecular techniques, such as p.R, p.R-restriction fragment length p.lymorp.ism (RFLp., sequencing, and bioinformatic analyses. The infection rate of fishes was analyzed using theZ-test and the loads of MC were comp.red using the chi-squared (χ2) *** The MC ofC. sinensis,Op.sthorchis sp.., andMetorchis sp.. were detected in 11 sp.cies of common and p.p.lar lFWF. In lFWF, the estimated p.evalence was 18.7% and the mean load was 137.4 ± 149.8 MC p.r 100 g of fish. The p.evalence was the highest (p.p.tted snakehead fishes (Channa p.nctata, 63.6%). The highest rate of infection (p.p.> 0.05) distributed between the head and body of fishes. The infection rate was slightly higher in cultured (19.6%) fishes. The MC ofC. sinensis,O. felineus,O. viverrini, andMetorchis orientalis in fishes were confirmed using p.R, p.R-RFLp.and bioinformatics. The cercariae of op.sthorchiid (p.eurolop.ocercus cercariae) flukes were only recovered fromBithynia sp.. (3.9%, 42 out of 1089). The ova of hLFs from dogs (4.3%, 5 out of 116) and cats (6.0%, 6 out of 100), and adult flukes (***) from ducks
