Avian influenza A H5N1 remains the most threatening virus that may cause another devastating pandemic in the foreseeable future. In 1997, Hong kong was the first place to detect human infections due to this virus originated from birds. The experience and lessons learnt provide important information for controlling further outbreaks caused by avian influenza viruses.

How the primordial germ cell （PGC） lineage, which eventually gives rise to spermatozoa in males and oocytes in females, is established in the developing mammalian embryo has been a critical topic in both developmental and reproductive biology for many years. There have been significant breakthroughs over the past two decades in establishing both the source of PGCs and the factors that regulate the specification of this lineage in mice,~ but our understanding of the factors that control PGC development in the human is rudimentary. The sRY-related HMG-box （sOX） family of transcription factors consists of 20 genes in humans and mice that are involved in the maintenance of pluripotency, male sexual development, and other processes. A recent paper in Cell has identified one member of this family, sOX17, as an essential factor for inducing the PGC lineage in ***, this protein does not appear to have a role in PGC specification in mice. This work not only introduces a new and important player to the field of germ cell specification, but also emphasizes the uniqueness of human PGC development compared to more extensively studied mouse models.

A weakly magnetized sheath for a collisionless, electronegative plasma comprising positive ions,electrons, and negative ions is investigated numerically using the fluid approach. The electrons are considered to be non-Maxwellian in nature and are described by Tsalli's distribution. such electrons have a substantial effect on the sheath properties. The study also reveals that non-Maxwellian distribution is the most realistic description for negative ions in the presence of an oblique magnetic field. In addition to the negative ion temperature, the sheath potential is also affected by the nonextensive parameters. The present research finds application in the plasma processing and semiconductor industry as well as in space plasmas.

Tis paper attempts to establish a psychophysical basis for both stationary(tension in chord sonorities)and transitional(resolution in chord progressions)*** studies the phenomenon of combining notes in music to produce a pleasing efect greater than the sum of its *** both aesthetic and mathematical in nature,it has bafed some of the brightest minds in physics and mathematics for *** stationary harmony acoustics,traditional theories explaining consonances and dissonances that have been widely accepted are centred around two schools:rational relationships(commonly credited to Pythagoras)and Helmholtz’s beating *** frst is more of an attribution than a psychoacoustic explanation while electrophysiological(amongst other)discrepancies with the second still remain *** harmony,on the other hand,is a more complex problem that has remained largely elusive to acoustic science even *** order to address both stationary and transitional harmony,we frst propose the notion of interharmonic and subharmonic modulations to address the summation of adjacent and distant sinusoids in a *** on this,earlier parts of this paper then bridges the two schools and shows how they stem from a single *** parts of the paper focuses on subharmonic modulations to explain aspects of harmony that interharmonic modulations *** the concept of stationary and transitional subharmonic tensions,we show how it can explain perceptual concepts such as tension in stationary harmony and resolution in transitional harmony,by which we also address the fve fundamental questions of psychoacoustic harmony such as why the pleasing efect of harmony is greater than that of the sum of its ***,strong correlations with traditional music theory and perception statistics afrm our theory with stationary and transitional harmony.

seafloor irregularities influence rupture behavior along the subducting slab and in the overriding plate,thus affecting earthquake *** seafloor irregularities increase the likelihood of large earthquakes in a subduction zone remains contested,partially due to focus put either on fault development or on rupture ***,we simulate a subducting slab with a seafloor irregularity and the resulting deformation pattern of the overriding plate using the discrete element *** simulations illustrate the rupture along three major fault systems:megathrust,splay and backthrust *** results show different rupture dimensions of earthquake events varying from tens to ca.140 *** results suggest that the recurrence interval of megathrust events with rupture length of ca.100 km is ca.140 years,which is overall comparable to the paleoseismic records at the Mentawai area of the sumatran *** further propose the coseismic slip amounts decrease and interseismic slip amounts increase from the surface downwards *** conclude that the presence of seafloor irregularities significantly affects rupture events along the slab as well as fault patterns in the overriding plate.

Translation validation was invented in the 90＇s by Pnueli et al. as a technique to formally verify the correctness of code generators. Rather than certifying the code generator or exhaustively qualifying it, translation validators attempt to verify that program transformations preserve semantics. In this work, we adopt this approach to formally verify that the clock semantics and data dependence are preserved during the compilation of the signal compiler. Translation valida- tion is implemented for every compilation phase from the initial phase until the latest phase where the executable code is generated, by proving the transformation in each phase of the compiler preserves the semantics. We represent the clock semantics, the data dependence of a program and its trans- formed counterpart as first-order formulas which are called clock models and synchronous dependence graphs （sDGs）, respectively. We then introduce clock refinement and depen- dence refinement relations which express the preservations of clock semantics and dependence, as a relation on clock mod- els and sDGs, respectively. Our validator does not require any instrumentation or modification of the compiler, nor any rewriting of the source program.

Introduction:China is responsible for more than 60%of global aquaculture *** the frontiers of food production have expanded,the cultivation of marine organisms in coastal zones and the open ocean has grown *** dominant mariculture industry in China is suspended mariculture,which uses net cages,ropes,or other structures suspended in the water column to cultivate aquatic *** systematic,quantitative review provides a clear and comprehensive account of research that has investigated the adverse impacts of suspended mariculture in China and reviews research that has applied Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture(IMTA)systems for mitigating *** work builds on 218 peer reviewed papers that have been published in English-language ***:Eighteen impacts were identified,including chemical,ecological,physical,and socioeconomic *** measures for improving suspended mariculture were recommended consisting of government department,farm management,and ecological engineering *** was the most frequently recommended *** capabil-ities of IMTA for bioremediation and increased farm production were the most frequently studied *** other benefits have been explored but remain *** current challenges facing the expansion of commercial IMTA include limited use of new technology,limited skills development,decreasing production of low trophic-level species,biogeographic and temporal barriers,and negative system ***:Despite challenges,implementing commercial IMTA is a promising measure for reducing the impacts of sus pended mariculture because it presents a range of secondary benefits that can improve the overall sustainability of aquaculture in the coastal zone.
