Cratonic stabilization was a critical crustal process during the Hadean to Archean for the formation of *** understanding of how and where this process took place is significant to evaluate the architecture of *** Singhbhum Craton of eastern india has well preserved Precambrian volcanosedimentary *** Simlipal volcano-sedimentary complex of Singhbhum Craton consists of circular bands of mafic volcanic rocks interlayered with quartzites/shales/*** the present study,we report petrographic and geochemical characteristics of quartzites from Simlipal Complex coupled with U–Pb ages of detrital zircons and zircon geochemistry to understand the provenance and depositional conditions and its connection with the crustal stabilization in the Singhbhum *** quartzites are texturally mature with sub-angular to sub-rounded quartz grains followed by feldspars embedded in a silty *** on modal compositions and major element ratios,these quartzites are categorized as quartz arenite and sub-lithic *** element abundances normalized to Archean Upper Continental Crust(AUCC)display positive anomalies at U,Zr,Hf and negative anomalies at *** patterns are characterized by negative Eu anomalies(Eu/Eu^(*)=0.47–0.97)and flat HREE suggesting felsic *** quartzites show depletion of LiLE,enrichment of HFSE and transition metals relative to *** weathering indices such as CiA,PiA,and iCV are suggestive of moderate to intense chemical *** trace element ratios such as Th/Cr,Th/Sc,La/Sc,La/Co and Th/Co indicate a predominantly felsic source for these *** overall geochemical signatures indicate passive margin deposition for these *** zircons from the Simlipal quartzites yield U–Pb ages 3156±31 Ma suggesting Mesoarchean crustal *** trace element geochemistry of detrital zircons suggests that the zircons are magmatic in origin and possibly derived from the 3.1 Ga anorogenic grani

Plant-available water capacity of soils at a regional scale:Analysis of fixed and dynamic field capacities

Estimation of the plant-available water capacity(PAWC)of soils at a regional scale helps in adopting better land use planning,developing suitable irrigation schedules for crops,and optimizing the use of scarce water *** the current study,72 soil profiles were sampled from the Barossa region of South Australia to estimate pedo-transfer functions deduced from easily estimated soil *** functions were then used to estimate the fixed(10 and 33 kPa)and dynamic pressure head(h_(fc))water contents at field capacity(FC)for minimum drainage flux(0.01 and 0.001 cm d^(-1)),which serves as the upper boundary for plant-available water in *** estimated residual water content was corrected for subsoil constraints,especially the exchangeable sodium percentage(ESP).The results showed that the mean values of h_(fc)in sand-dominated light and medium textured soils(i.e.,sand,loamy sand,sandy loam,and loam)varied in a narrow range(15.8-18.2 kPa),whereas those in the clay-dominated heavy textured soils(i.e.,clay loam)showed a wide range(11.3-49.3 kPa).There were large differences in PAWC for dynamic FC(PAWC_(fc))and fixed FC at 10 kPa(PAWC10),33 kPa(PAWC33),and a mix of 10and 33 kPa(PAWC_(10,33))pressure heads depending on soil ***,the difference between PAWC at 10 kPa and h_(fc)(ΔPAWC_(10))was positive,whereas that between 33 kPa and h_(fc)(ΔPAWC_(33))was negative across all ***,the estimation of PAWC assuming a fixed FC at 10 and 33 kPa pressures(i.e.,PAWC_(10,33))for sandy,clay,and silty soils reduced the difference between fixed and dynamic pressure PAWCs toimation of PAWC was improved by incorporating the impact of subsoil constraints,such as high ESP,which was more pronounced for clay and silty *** findings demonstrate the inherent inconsistencies between static pressure and flux-based dynamic FC estimations in *** heterogeneity,intra-texture variability,subsoil constraints,and swell

Cross-species hybridization of woodchuck hepatitis virus-induced hepatocellular carcinoma using human oligonucleotide microarrays

AiM： To demonstrate the feasibility of using woodchuck samples on human microarrays, to provide insight into pathways involving positron emission tomography （PET） imaging tracers and to identify genes that could be potential molecular imaging targets for woodchuck hepatocellular carcinoma. METHODS： Labeled cRNA from woodchuck tissue samples were hybridized to Affymetrix U133 plus 2.0 GeneChips. Ten genes were selected for validation using quantitative RT-PCR and literature review was made. RESULTS： Testis enhanced gene transcript （BAX inhibitor 1）, alpha-fetoprotein, isocitrate dehydrogenase 3 （NAD＋） beta, acetyi-CoA synthetase 2, carnitine palmitoyltransferase 2, and N-myc2 were up-regulated and spermidine/spermine N1-acetyltransferase was down-regulated in the woodchuck HCC. We also found previously published results supporting 8 of the 10 most up-regulated genes and all 10 of the 10 most downregulated genes. CONCLUSiON： Many of our microarray results were validated using RT-PCR or literature search. Hence, we believe that woodchuck HCC and non-cancerous liver samples can be used on human microarrays to yield meaningful results.

Dietary experience alters predatory behavior of two ladybird species on tomato potato psyllid

The tomato potato psyllid,Bactericera cockerelli,is an invasive pest in Aus-tralia,which can cause severe economic loss in the production of Solanaceous *** an invasive pest,*** may also modify biotic interactions in Australian agricul-tural and native *** generalist predators in an area may have the ability to utilize invasive pest species as prey but this will depend on their specific predatory *** extent to which generalist predators learn from their previous dietary ex-perience(i.e.,whether they have used a particular species as prey before)and how this impacts subsequent prey choice will influence predator and prey population dynamics af-ter *** this study,one nonnative resident ladybird,Hippodamia variegata,and one native ladybird,Coccinella transversalis,were *** experience with *** as a prey species significantly increased preference for the psyllid in a short term(6 h)Petri dish study where a choice of prey was *** suppression of *** populations by experienced ladybirds was also observed on glasshouse grown tomato *** was presumably due to altered prey recognition by *** result of this study suggest the potential to improve the impact of biological control agents on invasive pests by providing early life experience consuming the target *** may prove valuable for developing improved augmentative release strategies for ladybirds to manage specific insect pest species.

Pharmacogenetics is the study of the association between variability in drug response and （or） drug toxicity and polymorphisms in genes. The goal of this field of science is to adapt drugs to a patient＇s specific genetic background and therefore make them more efficacious and safe. in this article we describe the variants in genes that influence either the efficacy or toxicity of common drugs used in the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases （iBD）, ulcerative colitis （UC）, and Crohn＇s disease （CD） including sulfasalazine and mesalazine, azathioprine （AZA） and 6-mercaptopurine （6-MP）, methotrexate （MTX）, glucocorticosteroids （CSs） and infliximab. Furthermore, difficulties with pharmacogenetic studies in general and more specifically in iBD are described. Although pharmacogenetics is a promising field that already contributed to a better understanding of some of the underlying mechanisms of action of drugs used in iBD, the only discovery translated until now into daily practice is the relation between thiopurine S-methyltransferase （TPMT） gene polymorphisms and hematological toxicity of thiopurine treatment. in the future it is necessary to organize studies in well characterized patient cohorts who have been uniformly treated and systematically evaluated in order to quantitate drug response more objectively. An effort should be made to collect genomic DNA from all patients enrolled in clinical drug trials after appropriate informed consent for pharmacogenetic studies.

Background andAims:Hepatitis C Virus(HCV)is uniformly recurrent after liver transplant(LT)and recurrence is associated with an increased risk of *** medications increase the risk of chronic kidney disease,and the presence of chronic kidney disease presents a challenge for HCV treatment in LT *** aim of this study was to assess changes in glomerular filtration rates(GFRs)of LT recipients receiving HCV ***:This is a retrospective study of LT patients who received HCV treatment between 2015 and 2016(n=60).The outcomes of interest were differences in serum creatinine levels and in GFR,measured at treatment initiation and at 24 weeks after *** average age of the patients was 59 years-old,and 17%were cirrhotic and 67%were *** patients received sofosbuvir/ledipasvir without ***:All patients achieved sustained virologic response at 12 weeks after treatment(SVR12).At baseline,55%of patients had GFRin per 1.73 *** those patients,GFR did not change in 18%,33%had improved GFR,and 48%had worsened *** to 45%of the patients had a GFR>60 mL/min per 1.73 *** those patients,GFR did not change in 81%,and 19%had worsened *** the entire cohort,65%of patients had improved or stable GFR and 35%had worsened *** average change in serum creatinine between baseline and 24 weeks was 0.10(p=0.18).Conclusions:This study showed improved or unchanged GFR in 65%and worsened GFR in 35%of LT recipients who achieved *** of GFR was more frequently encountered in those with impaired renal function at *** should be used when treating HCV in LT recipients,especially those with baseline status of renal impairment.

involvement of autophagy in alcoholic liver injury and hepatitis C pathogenesis

This review describes the principal pathways of macroautophagy (i.e. autophagy), microautophagy and chaperone-mediated autophagy as they are currently known to occur in mammalian cells. Because of its crucial role as an accessory digestive organ, the liver has a particularly robust autophagic activity that is sensitive to changes in plasma and dietary components. Ethanol consumption causes major changes in hepatic protein and lipid metabolism and both are regulated by autophagy, which is significantly affected by hepatic ethanol metabolism. Ethanol exposure enhances autophagosome formation in liver cells, but suppresses lysosome function. Excessive ethanol consumption synergizes with hepatitis C virus (HCV) to exacerbate liver injury, as alcohol-consuming HCV patients frequently have a longer course of infection and more severe manifestations of chronic hepatitis than abstinent HCV patients. Alcohol-elicited exacerbation of HCV infection pathogenesis is related to modulation by ethanol metabolism of HCV replication. Additionally, as part of this mechanism, autophagic proteins have been shown to regulate viral (HCV) replication and their intracel-lular accumulation. Because ethanol induces autophagosome expression, enhanced levels of autophagic proteins may enhance HCV infectivity in liver cells of alcoholics and heavy drinkers.

Effects of Trade and Financial Links on the Transmission of GDP Growth

Using panel analysis of quarterly data from 14 developed countries between 1980 and 2012, i examine the channels by which GDP growth transmission has taken place, and how the transmission of growth has varied with time and global growth. i find that countries with large, open banking sectors and trade deficits tend to transmit growth more strongly than other countries. Transmission effects seem to have become stronger over time and are stronger in periods of slow economic growth.

Based on current voltage（i-Vg） and capacitance voltage（C-Vg） measurements,a reliable procedure is proposed to determine the effective surface potential Vd（Vg） in Schottky *** the framework of thermionic emission,our analysis includes both the effect of the series resistance and the ideality factor,even voltage dependent. This technique is applied to n-type indium phosphide（n-inP） Schottky diodes with and without an interfacial layer and allows us to provide an interpretation of the observed peak on the C-Vg *** study clearly shows that the depletion width and the flat band barrier height deduced from C-Vg,which are important parameters directly related to the surface potential in the semiconductor,should be estimated within our approach to obtain more reliable information.
