Introduction: The gravity of the clinical state of the patient of intensive care is linked to the existence of one or several lesions and visceral defaults putting its forecast into play. Objective: To determine the prognosis value of two general graveness’ scores of patients admitted to intensive care at University Hospital of Parakou in Benin. Patients and Methods: Descriptive and analytical observational study data were collected from March 1st to June 30th, 2017. The SAPS II and APACHE II were calculated during first 24 hours of hospitalization to assess the clinical graveness and predict patient’s mortality. Results: We enrolled 185 patients representing 89.37% of admissions, majority were men (63.78%). Mean age was 38.89 ± 17.92 years (16 to 99), mean of hospitalization duration was 4.36 ± 2.2 days. Neurological failure was the most common disorder observed (58.37%). Mean SAPS II and APACHE II were 29.54 ± 19.04 and 14.24 ± 10.49 respectively. Mean predicted mortality of SAPS II and APACHE II was 19.12 ± 5.05 and 25.69 ± 5.00 respectively. The mortality rate was 25.95% and increased with severity scores. The sensibility of APACHE II and SAPS II score was 72.90% and 66.70% respectively. SAPS II score was found to be more specific (85.40%) than APACHE II (80.03%). Conclusion: Those severity patient scores accurately predicted the prognosis of patients in intensive care unit and should be integrated into our practice.

Background: Negative experiences in early life can induce long-lasting effects on the welfare, health, and performance of farm animals. A delayed placement of chicks in rearing houses has negative effects on their performance, and results in fecal-specific odors detectable by rats. Based on this observation, the volatile organic compounds(VOCs) and metabolites from the feces of 12-day-old chickens were screened for early markers of response to negative events using gas-chromatography and liquid-chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry(GC-MS, LC-HRMS).Results: The low reproducibility of solid-phase micro-extraction of the VOCs followed by GC-MS was not suitable for marker discovery, in contrast to liquid extraction of metabolites from freeze-dried feces followed by GC-MS or LC-HRMS analysis. Therefore, the fecal metabolome from 12-day-old chicks having experienced a normal or delayed placement were recorded by GC-MS and LC-HRMS in two genotypes from two experiments. From both experiments, 25 and 35 metabolites, respectively explaining 81% and 45% of the difference between delayed and control chickens, were identified by orthogonal partial least-squares discriminant analysis from LC-HRMS and GC-MS ***: The sets of molecules identified will be useful to better understand the chicks’ response to negative events over time and will contribute to define stress or welfare biomarkers.

AIM: To describe initial results and experimental error measurement of a protocol analyzing Human posture through sagittal intersegmental moments. METHODS: Postural analysis has been recently improved by development of three-dimensional radiographic imaging systems. However, in various situations such as global sagittal anterior malalignment interpretation of radiographs may not represent the real alignment of the subject. The aim of this study was to present initial results of a 3D biomechanical protocol. This protocol isobtained in a free standing position and characterizes postural balance by measurement of sagittal intersegmental net moments. After elaboration of a specific marker-set, 4 successive recordings were done on two volunteers by three different operators during three sessions in order to evaluate the experimental error measurement. A supplementary acquisition in a "radiographic" posture was also obtained. Once the data acquired, joint center, length, anatomical frame and the center of mass of each body segment was calculated and a mass affected. Sagittal net intersegmental moments were computed in an ascending manner from ground reaction forces at the ankles, knees, hips and the lumbosacral and thoraco-lumbar spinal junctions. Cervicothoracic net intersegmental moment was calculated in a descending ***: Based on average recordings, clinical interpretation of net intersegmental moments(in N.m) showed a dorsal flexion on the ankles(8.6 N.m), a flexion on the knees(7.5 N.m) and an extension on the hips(8.5 N.m). On the spinal junctions, it was flexion moments: 0.34 N.m on the cervico-thoracic; 6.7 N.m on the thoraco-lumbar and 0.65 N.m on the lumbo-sacral. Evaluation of experimental error measurement showed a small inter-trial error(intrinsic variability), with higher inter-session and inter-therapist errors but without important variation between them. In this paper, the initiatives of reforestation of the national forests of the North of the Côte d’Ivoire were examined using geomatics and the analysis of change of intensity by taking the case of the protected Forest of Badénou (PFB). A spatial analysis based on multi-spectral and multi-temporal Landsat imagery was carried out to assess land cover changes in the (PFB) over the past two decades and determine whether patterns of change in terms of the intensity of gains/losses of each of the land cover classes were active or dormant between the period before (2000-2013) and after (2013-2019) the reforestation initiative. Five main classes were identified: forest (dry deciduous and gallery forests), tree savannah, shrub/grassy savannah (including agricultural lands), bare lands (bare soils and degraded land areas), and water course. All classes were satisfactorily classified, with an excellent producer’s and user’s and overall accuracies and very good Kappa coefficients. The results showed that between 2000 and 2019, the forest cover in the PFB increased from 7778 ha to 5054 ha, a decrease was marked between 2000 and 2013 of approximately 60% compared to its size in 2000, while a slight increase between 2013 and 2019 (4645 ha to 5054 ha) i.e. around 9%) certainly due to the reforestation since 2016. As for the annual intensities of change for each class in both study periods, changes (gain or loss) in forest and tree savanna were relatively dormant after reforestation, while annual bare land gain was relatively active and marked, indicating that degradation of forests remains a threat to the sustainability of the PFB. Forest degradation has occurred mainly in the eastern parts of the PFB, while the central parts have regained more tree cover. These results can help identify conservation and restoration priorities and improve the overall management of the PFB.

The current study deals with an interpretation of audio-magnetotelluric (AMT) data collected in the Ayos/Nguelemendouka area, using a stratagem EH4 unit. The study’s objective is to provide a better understanding of the area’s subsurface structure. Thus, AMT soundings were realised through seven profiles NE30° oriented, each profile made up of four stations. Data modelling highlights a SW-NE tectonic unevenness which seems to correlate with the Centre Cameroon Shear Zone. Moreover, this interpretation put into evidence an uplift of the basement at Lamba 2, a tabular structure at depth and an absence of discontinuities beneath 300 mdepth.

A geophysical survey was conducted in the Kelle-Bidjocka village, Messondo subdivision, in the Centre Region, Cameroon. The data acquisition was made by combining Schlumberger profiling and electrical soundings along six (06) profiles of 1500 m in length for a total of 64 geoelectrical stations’ survey conducted through a variable mesh 100 m × 200 m, or 100 m × 300 m. The equipment used is the DC resistivimeter Syscal Junior 48 (Iris Instrument). Processing and modelling of field data are made by using the Res2Dinv, Qwseln and Surfer software. The investigation methods used are electrical resistivity (DC) and induced polarization (IP) methods. The analyses and interpretations have helped to highlight areas of weakness or conductive discontinuities (fractures, faults, shear zones, etc.) in Precambrian gneiss formations, sometimes undergoing weathering processes. They identify the weathering or mineralogical accumulation horizons, the most promising is a mineralization channel identified in the NE-SW direction. The highlighted mineralization is characterized by strong gradients of chargeability or polarization. Samples and other geological evidences observed in the area are used to associate the most polarizable structures with ferriferous formations. Weakly polarizable and particularly conductive backgrounds identified by the inverse pseudo-sections are thought to be sulphate minerals or groundwater targets for future hydrogeological studies.

To achieve the current study, geoelectrical surveys along six (06) profiles of 4 km long in a 100 m × 200 m grid defined according to the triangulation principle in the Tindikala-Boutou (Eastern-Cameroon) area along the Kadey River have been made through electrical sounding and profiling following Schlumberger array. The instrument is the resistive meter Syscal Junior 48 (IRIS Instrument). The data have been processed and modelled with Res2Dinv and Winsev softwares, and then interpolated with Surfer software. Investigation method used is the Direct Current (DC) method. Interpretations and analyses of results from the investigation method highlight weak zones or conductive discontinuities. The latter has been identified as shear zones within granitic structures of the Precambrian basement, according to the geologic and tectonic background of the area. The structural trend of these shear zones is E-W approximately. The mineralization characterized by conductive zones proves the presence of clay minerals disseminated in weathered quartz vein, which cross the shear zones. The intense activities of gold washers encountered in the studied area are able to attest the presence of clay minerals concentrations.

Glioblastoma multiforme （GBM） is the most common adult primary tumor of the cen- tral nervous system. The current standard of care for glioblastoma patients involves a combination of surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy with the alkylating agent temozolomide. Several mech- anisms underlying the inherent and acquired temozolomide resistance have been identified and con- tribute to treatment failure. Early identification of temozolomide-resistant GBM patients and improvement of the therapeutic strategies available to treat this malignancy are of uttermost impor- tance. This review initially looks at the molecular pathways underlying GBM formation and devel- opment with a particular emphasis placed on recent therapeutic advances made in the field. Our focus will next be directed toward the molecular mechanisms modulating temozolomide resistance in GBM patients and the strategies envisioned to circumvent this resistance. Finallyl we highlight the diagnostic and prognostic value of metabolomics in cancers and assess its potential usefulness in improving the current standard of care for GBM patients.

Previous research has combined model-free reinforcement learning with model-based tree search methodsto solve the unit commitment problem with stochastic demand and renewables generation. This approachwas limited to shallow search depths and suffered from significant variability in run time across probleminstances with varying complexity. To mitigate these issues, we extend this methodology to more advancedsearch algorithms based on A^(*) search. First, we develop a problem-specific heuristic based on priority list unitcommitment methods and apply this in Guided A^(*) search, reducing run time by up to 94% with negligibleimpact on operating costs. In addition, we address the run time variability issue by employing a novel anytimealgorithm, Guided IDA^(*), replacing the fixed search depth parameter with a time budget constraint. We showthat Guided IDA^(*) mitigates the run time variability of previous guided tree search algorithms and enablesfurther operating cost reductions of up to 1%.
