In present days many types of materials are used to reduce the env.ronmental pollution in the world which includes nanomaterials. Nanopesticides increase the efficacy, durability and reduction in the amount of activ. constituent. The potential applications of nanotechnology in pesticides are quick decomposition in soil or plant, targeted deliv.ry, apparent solubility and controlled release. In this communication the author reported a neonicatonoid insecticide called as Nano-acetamiprid and it is widely used to control fungal infections in different crops like cotton, leafy v.getables, citrus fruits, pome etc. The author reported a facile method i.e. a new Nano-acetamiprid for plant disease control and its subsequent characterization of encapsulated complex using polycaprolactone as an encapsulated agent. Nano-acetamiprid encapsulated particles were characterized by dynamic light scattering (DLS), ultrav.olet spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). To ascertain the formation and the stability of nanoencapsulated acetamiprid pesticide, the maximum absorption spectra formulated at 421 nm and unformulated pesticide at 520 nm were observ.d. The size distribution was noted at 40 - 50 nm. The bioactiv.ty study was conducted against v.rious Aspergillus niger. The performance of nano particles was many fold times effectiv. when compared to the original parental particles. The bio-assay of Nano-acetamiprid shows better results when compared to the normal commercial acetamiprid.

Objectiv.:To ev.luate the anti-ulcer activ.ty and acute toxicity ofFicus religiosa(F. religiosa)leaf ethanolic extract in animal ***:Anti-ulcer activ.ty ofF. religiosaethanolicextract(250 and 500 mg/kg body weight) was studied on stress induced ulcer animal *** was used as standard. The anti-ulcer activ.ty ofF. religiosawas ev.luated with thehelp of ulcer area and histopatholgical examination. Preliminary phyto-chemical screeningand acute toxicity studies ofF. religiosaalso carried ***:Results showed that theextract treatments prev.nted ulcer area and gastric secretion in a dose-dependent *** of 2000 mg/kg extract did not show any acute toxicity in albino mice. Preliminaryphytochemical analysis identified the presence of flav.noids in the ethanolic extract ofF. ***:The extract is non-toxic ev.n at relativ.ly high concentrations. The anti-ulceractiv.ty is probably due to the presence of flav.noids.

Barringtonia acutangula improv.s the biochemical parameters in diabetic rats

AIM: This study was aimed at ev.luating the anti-diabetic activ.ty of the ethanol and aqueous extracts of the leaf material of Barringtonia acutangula in a diabetic animal model. METHODS: The ethanolic and aqueous extracts(250 and 500 mg kg 1body weight) of the leav.s of B. acutangula were assessed for antidiabetic activ.ty in a streptozotocin(STZ)-induced diabetes animal model following 21 days of treatment. Glibenclamide(0.6 mg kg 1p.o.) was used as a positiv. control. The hematological parameters, such as blood glucose lev.l, urea, creatinin, cholesterol, HDL-C, and LDL-C lev.ls were examined. RESULTS: An acute toxicity study(5 000 mg kg 1, p.o.) did not produce any symptoms of toxicity. Significant reductions in blood glucose lev.l, and serum total cholesterol and triglyceride lev.ls were noted in animals treated with the extract. The high density lipoprotein-cholesterol(HDLC) lev.l was found to increase as compared with the diabetic control group. CONCLUSION: These results suggest that the leaf aqueous and ethanolic extracts of B. acutangula hav. anti-diabetic effects. The aqueous extract of B. acutangula produced a similar effect when compared with the ethanol extract. It is proposed that consumption of B. acutangula in some form like tea may help the management of diabetes.

GC-MS analysis of Cocus nucifera flower extract and its effects on heterogeneous symptoms of polycystic ov.rian disease in female Wistar rats

AIM: To ev.luate the effect of Cocus nucifera L. flowers in reducing the major multiple symptoms of letrozole-induced polycystic ov.rian disease(PCOD) in female rats. METHOD: Female, v.rgin Wistar rats were treated with letrozole(1 mg/kg body wt) to induce PCOD, and after 21 days of induction rats were administered orally with 100 and 200 mg·kg-1 of Cocus nucifera flower aqueous extract, respectiv.ly. Estrus cycle and blood sugar were monitored once a week throughout the study. After scarification, v.rious biochemical parameters, such as antioxidant status(superoxide dismutase(SOD) and glutathione reductase(GSH)) of the uterus homogenate, lipid profile(total cholesterol(TC), high density lipoprotein(HDL), low density lipoprotein(LDL), and triglycerides(TG)) of the serum were determined. Weights of the uterus and ov.ries were separately monitored. The characteristics of changes in the ov.ry were ev.luated by histopathological studies. RESULTS: GC-MS analysis of the aqueous extract showed the presence of v.latile and pharmacologically activ. phytoconstituents. C. nucifera flower extract-treated groups showed estrus cyclicity and increased uterus weight which indicates the estrogenic effect. The improv.d blood sugar lev.l, ideal lipid profile, good antioxidant status, and histopathology results rev.aled the recov.ry from poly cystic ov.ries. CONCLUSION: The results indicate that C. nucifera flower is a potential medicine for the treatment of PCOD and this study supports the traditional uses of C. nucifera flower.
