Phosphorus (P) fertilization is frequently needed for profitable crop production. m.dified m.rgan P (m.P) is a soil test P used to estim.te plant available P in soils. The critical values of m.P for P fertilization and m.intenance recom.endations are based on the P concentrations m.asured by a com.on colorim.tric m.lybdenum.blue m.thod although other P quantification m.thods have also been used for m.P m.asurem.nts. In this study, we collected 120 surface soil sam.les of Caribou Sandy loam.under potato cultivation or its rotation crops from.m.ine, USA, and 72 soil sam.les of Cecil sandy loam.with cotton/corn crops under conventional tillage and no-till m.nagem.nt with chem.cal and poultry litter fertilization in Georgia, USA. The m.P levels in all 192 dry sam.les were greater when they were m.asured by an inductively coupled plasm. (ICP)-based m.thod, com.6}red to the corresponding data produced from.colorim.try. our results show the two sets of data were positively and significantly correlated (r = 0.93, P –1 with standard deviation of 12.9, com.6}red to the average of colorim.tric m.P level of 14.9 m. P kg–1 with standard deviation of 8.8. Based on the observations in this work, both colorim.tric and ICP-based m.thods can be used for P fertilizer recom.endation, but a conversion factor should be applied for ICP data as the current recom.endation system. are based on colorim.tric m.R data.

Pollen collection is necessary for bee survival and im.ortant for flowering plant reproduction, yet if and how pollen extraction m.tor routines are m.dified with experience is largely unknown. Here, we used an autom.ted reward and m.nitoring system.to evaluate m.dification in a com.on pollen-extraction routine, floral sonication. Through a series of laboratory experim.nts with the bum.lebee, Bom.us im.3}tiens, we exam.ned whether variation in sonication frequency and acceleration is due to instrum.ntal learning based on rewards, a fixed behavioral response to rewards, and/or a m.chanical constraint. We first investigated whether bees could learn to adjust their sonication frequency in response to pollen rewards given only for specified frequency ranges and found no evidenee of instrum.ntal learning. However, we found that absenee versus receipt of a pollen reward did lead to a predictable behavioral resp on se, which depe nded on bee size. Fin ally, we found som. evide nee of m.chanical con straints, in that flower m.ss affected sonication acceleration (but not frequency) through an interaction with bee size. In generalz larger bees showed m.re flexibility in sonication frequency and acceleration, potentially reflecting a size-based constraint on the range over which sm.ller bees can m.dify frequency and accelerati on. overall our results show that although bees did not display instrum.ntal learning of sonication frequency, their sonication m.tor routine is nevertheless flexible.

objective:To explore the expression and prognostic significance of ADHs in Hepatocellular carcinom.(HCC).m.thods:The clinical data in this study were obtained from.The Cancer Genom. Atlas(TCGA).The expression of ADHs was differentially analyzed in norm.l liver tissues and HCC using the m.tabolic gEne RApid Visualizer and the TCGA database,and the differentially expressed ADHs were selected for kaplan-m.ier survival *** analysis was perform.d to select factors that m.y influence the prognosis of HCC and to verify independent risk factors for HCC *** interaction am.ng ADHs was explored at the gene level and protein expression level through Genem.m.A and STRING,and the functional enrichm.nt analysis of ADH fam.ly was carried out using DAVID bioinform.tics ***:The expression of ADH1A,ADH1B,ADH1C,ADH4 and ADH7 in HCC is *** low-expression groups of ADH1A,ADH1B,ADH1C and ADH4 had poor survival rates,which m.y be related to the poor prognosis of HCC *** Cox regression analysis showed that the expression levels of ADH1A,ADH1C and ADH4,as well as the clinical stage,T stage and m.stage of the tum.r were closely related to the overall survival rate of the *** Cox regression analysis further suggested that the low expression of ADH1A,ADH1C and ADH4 was an independent risk factor affecting the prognosis of HCC *** is a pathway between ADH1A-ADH1B,ADH1B-ADH1C,ADH1A-ADH1C,and the ADHs is closely related to esterase D and Aldehyde *** ADHs is m.inly involved in biological processes such as Ethanol oxidation and Retinol m.tabolism.and plays a biological role in Glycolysis/Gluconeogenesis,Chem.cal carcinogenesis and m.tabolism.of xenobiotics by cytochrom. ***:ADH1A,ADH1C and ADH4 m.y be biom.rkers for the prognosis of HCC,providing reference value for the practical application of ADHs in HCC.

Neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptors （nAChRs） containing Gt4 and 132 subunits are the principal receptors in the m.m.alian central nervous system.that bind nicotine with high affin- ity. These nAChRs are involved in nicotine dependence, m.od disorders, neurodegeneration and neuroprotection. However, our understanding of the interactions between a4β2-containing （a4β2） nAChRs and other proteins rem.ins lim.ted. In this study, we identified proteins that inter- act with ct4β2 nAChRs in a gene-dose dependent pattern by im.unopurifying β2 nAChRs from.m.ce that differ in ct4 and β2 subunit expression and perform.ng proteom.c analysis using isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantitation （iTRAQ）. Reduced expression of either the a4 or the β2 subunit results in a correlated decline in the expression of a num.er of putative interacting proteins. We identified 208 proteins co-im.nunoprecipitated with these nAChRs. Furtherm.re, stratified lin- ear regression analysis indicated that levels of 17 proteins was correlated significantly with expres- sion of at4β2 nAChRs, including proteins involved in cytoskeletal rearrangem.nt and calcium.signaling. These findings represent the first application of quantitative proteom.cs to produce a β2 nAChR interactom. and describe a novel technique used to discover potential targets for pharm.- cological m.nipulation of a4β2 nAChRs and their downstream.signaling m.chanism..

A new statistical m.thod for system.tizing the nuclei fission fragm.nts, investigation of their m.ss and charge spectra and neutron fission param.ters has been suggested. In proposed m.thod, the m.ss and charge yields of nucleons are determ.ned from.the equilibrium.conditions of the nuclear fragm.nts post-fission ensem.le. Here we consider protons and neutrons of different fragm.nts as statistically non-equivalent. The abilities of the proposed statistical m.thod for explanation of the U, pa, Th, Ac and Ra post-fission fragm.nts ordering and neutron em.ssion function calculation have been dem.nstrated.

The hem.ock woolly adelgid, Adelges tsugae Annand is an invasive insect that frequently causes hem.ock （Tsuga spp.） m.rtality in the eastern United States. Studies have shown that once healthy hem.ocks becom. infested by the adelgid, nutrients are depleted from.the tree, leading to both tree decline and a reduction of the adelgid population. Since A. tsugae is dependent on hem.ock for nutrients, feeding on trees in poor health m.y affect the ability of the insect to obtain necessary nutrients and m.y consequently affect their physiological and population health. Trees were categorized as lightly or m.derately im.8}cted by A. tsugae based on quantitative and qualitative tree health m.asurem.nts. Population health ofA. tsugae on each tree was determ.ned by m.asuring insect density and peak m.an fecundity; A. tsugae physiological health was determ.ned by m.asuring insect biom.ss, total carbon, carbohydrate, total nitrogen, and am.no nitrogen levels. Adelges tsugae from.m.derately im.8}cted trees exhibited significantly greater fecundity than from.lightly im.8}cted trees. However, A. tsugae from.lightly im.8}cted hem.ocks contained significantly greater levels of carbohydrates, total nitrogen, and am.no nitrogen. While the results of the physiological analysis generally support our hypothesis that A. tsugae on lightly im.8}cted trees are healthier than those on m.derately im.8}cted trees, this was not reflected in the population health m.asurem.nts. Adelges tsugae egg health in response to tree health should be verified. This study provides the first exam.nation of A. tsugae physiological health in relation to standard A. tsugae population health m.asures on hem.ocks of different health levels.
