In 2013,the World Health Organization defined perivascular epithelioid cell tumor(PEComa)as“a mesenchymal tumor which shows a local association with vessel walls and usually expresses melanocyte and smooth muscle markers.”This generic definition seems to better fit the PEComa family,which includes angiomyolipoma,clear cell sugar tumor of the lung,lymphangioleiomyomatosis,and a group of histologically and immunophenotypically similar tumors that include primary extrapulmonary sugar tumor and clear cell myomelanocytic tumor.Clear cell tumors with this immunophenotypic pattern have also had their malignant variants described.When localizing to the liver,preoperative radiological diagnosis has proven to be very difficult,and most patients have been diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma,focal nodular hyperplasia,hemangioma,or hepatic adenoma based on imaging findings.Examples of a malignant variant of the liver have been described.Finally,reports of malignant variants of these lesions have increased in recent years.Therefore,we support the use of the Folpe criteria,which in 2005 established the criteria for categorizing a PEComa as benign,malignant,or of uncertain malignant potential.Although they are not considered ideal,they currently seem to be the best approach and could be used for the categorization of liver tumors.

One of the crucial issues in the chemical looping technology lies in its bed material:the oxygen carrier.Particle size analysis of an oxygen carrier is important since in a fluidized bed the material can only work well within a specific size range.While the favorable size ranges for oxygen carrier materials have already been reported,none of the published studies has analyzed the particle size and shape of oxygen carriers in detail.Furthermore,the effect of oxygen carriers'oxidation degree on such properties has not been considered either.This study aimed to report the particle size and shape analysis of five iron-based oxygen carriers,one natural ore,one synthetic material,and three residue products,at different oxidation degrees using dynamic image analysis(DIA).The oxygen carriers were prepared at different mass conversion degrees in a fluidized bed batch reactor.The size distribution,sphericity,and aspect ratio of the oxygen carrier particles were examined experimentally using a Camsizer instrument.Our results show that the DIA method was successfully able to analyze the particle size and shape of our oxygen carriers with satisfying accuracy for comparison.The oxidation state of the investigated materials seems to only affect the particle size and shape of oxygen carriers to a minor extent.However,exposures to redox cycles in a fluidized bed reactor may alter the particle size and shape of most oxygen carriers.

Relaxation dynamics,essential for the structural evolution of non-equilibrium systems like glassy materials,remain enigmatic.Here,we explore relaxation dynamics and viscoelastic properties in three types of metallic glasses with distinctβrelaxation behavior.In systems with significantβrelaxation,stress relaxation and creep experiments reveal a transition from two-step to one-step relaxation with rising temperature.However,such a phenomenon is absent in systems with weakerβrelaxation.We model the two-step relaxation process using a double Kohlrausch-Williams-Watts equation,and the obtained relaxation times elegantly adhere to the Arrhenius relationship.By combining fitted activation energies with theoretical analysis,we conclusively attribute these relaxation processes toβrelaxation andαrelaxation,respectively.Finally,we analyze the relaxation time spectra of two processes and establish a comprehensive picture linking dynamic relaxation with viscoelasticity.Our study provides new strategies for probing the complex relaxation behaviors of glasses from the perspective of viscoelasticity.

The Antarctic Paleogene marine fossil record has been the key to reconstructing the evolution of the Weddellian Sea and final dismemberment of Southern Gondwana.In this context,Eocene marine vertebrates from Seymour(Marambio)Island have provided valuable information.We present the first Eocene record of marine reptiles from the southern Atlantic Coast of South America.This corresponds to several postcranial turtle remains represented by a proximal end of the right humerus,three caudal and one thoracic vertebrae,a fragment of the left pubis,and ten ossicles of the dorsal carapace,coming from the Leticia Formation(late-mid Eocene)at Cabo Tiburones,Tierra del Fuego,Argentina.These materials show severalfeatures such as the size and general morphology of the humerus and vertebrae,and the presence of relatively small,irregular,smooth,and unkeeled ossicles,which allow us to assign them to Dermochelyidae indet.Dermochelyids are a cosmopolitan group ofcryptodiran turtles,registered from the late Cretaceous up to the recent,with some physiological-biological peculiarities(e.g.,endothermy and an exclusive jellyfish-based diet)and characterized by the presence of an osseous carapace formed by ossicles.The new finding from the Leticia Formation is an addition to the scarce and extremely fragmentary record of Eocene dermochelyids from the southern seas like those from the La Meseta and Submeseta formations(Antarctica)and the Waihao and Burnside formations(New Zealand).This new information allows us to discuss the presence of these turtles in such high latitudes in the past and its implication in the evolution of the Weddellian fauna.

Adjuvant chemotherapy improves the survival outlook for patients undergoing operations for lung metastases caused by colorectal cancer (CRC). However, a multidisciplinary approach that evaluates several factors related to patient and tumor characteristics is necessary for managing chemotherapy treatment in metastatic CRC patients with lung disease, as such factors dictate the timing and drug regimen, which may affect treatment response and prognosis. In this study, we explore the potential of spatial metabolomics for evaluating metabolic phenotypes and therapy outcomes during the local delivery of the anticancer drug, oxaliplatin, to the lung. 12 male Yorkshire pigs underwent a 3 h left lung in vivo lung perfusion (IVLP) with various doses of oxaliplatin (7.5, 10, 20, 40, and 80 mg/L), which were administered to the perfusion circuit reservoir as a bolus. Biocompatible solid-phase microextraction (SPME) microprobes were combined with global metabolite profiling to obtain spatiotemporal information about the activity of the drug, determine toxic doses that exceed therapeutic efficacy, and conduct a mechanistic exploration of associated lung injury. Mild and subclinical lung injury was observed at 40 mg/L of oxaliplatin, and significant compromise of the hemodynamic lung function was found at 80 mg/L. This result was associated with massive alterations in metabolic patterns of lung tissue and perfusate, resulting in a total of 139 discriminant compounds. Uncontrolled inflammatory response, abnormalities in energy metabolism, and mitochondrial dysfunction next to accelerated kynurenine and aldosterone production were recognized as distinct features of dysregulated metabolipidome. Spatial pharmacometabolomics may be a promising tool for identifying pathological responses to chemotherapy.

由于非晶合金独特的无序结构,其结构动力学特征涉及较大时间与尺寸跨度的粒子重排。作为深入研究金属玻璃体系弛豫行为与老化动力学的基础,对非晶合金结构动力学的表征和理解至关重要。大量研究表明,以镧基和铈基为代表的稀土基非晶合金的弛豫谱呈现明显次级弛豫过程,该体系亦成为探究非晶合金结构动力学与力学性能关联的理想载体。本文主要就金属玻璃的滞弹性变形作了详细评述。作为蠕变实验中变形的主要成分,这类变形在卸载后可完全回复,对其合理描述是深入理解非晶合金结构动力学的关键。此外,总结了蠕变和蠕变回复过程中滞弹性变形的主要特征,并介绍了几种可用于定量或定性分析的理论模型。

BACKGROUND Acid-base imbalance has been poorly described in patients with coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).Study by the quantitative acid-base approach may be able to account for minor changes in ion distribution that may have been over-looked using traditional acid-base analysis techniques.In a cohort of critically ill COVID-19 patients,we looked for an association between metabolic acidosis surrogates and worse clinical outcomes,such as mortality,renal dialysis,and length of hospital stay.AIM To describe the acid-base disorders of critically ill COVID-19 patients using Stewart’s approach,associating its variables with poor outcomes.METHODS This study pertained to a retrospective cohort comprised of adult patients who experienced an intensive care unit stay exceeding 4 days and who were diagnosed with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection through a positive polymerase chain reaction analysis of a nasal swab and typical pulmonary involvement observed in chest computed tomography scan.Laboratory and clinical data were obtained from electronic records.Categorical variables were compared using Fisher’s exact test.Continuous data were presented as median and interquartile range.The Mann-Whitney U test was used for comparisons.RESULTS In total,211 patients were analyzed.The mortality rate was 13.7%.Overall,149 patients(70.6%)presented with alkalosis,28 patients(13.3%)had acidosis,and the remaining 34 patients(16.2%)had a normal arterial pondus hydrogenii.Of those presenting with acidosis,most had a low apparent strong ion difference(SID)(20 patients,9.5%).Within the group with alkalosis,128 patients(61.0%)had respiratory origin.The non-survivors were older,had more comorbidities,and had higher Charlson’s and simplified acute physiology score 3.We did not find severe acid-base imbalance in this population.The analyzed Stewart’s variables(effective SID,apparent SID,and strong ion gap and the effect of albumin,lactate,phosphorus,and chloride)were not different between the groups.CONCLUSION Alkalemia

In recent years,the taxonomy and systematics of the cartilaginous fish taxa from the Eocene La Meseta Formation of Seymour(Marambio)Island,Antarctica have been extensively discussed in a series of papers,resulting in a complete revision of the Antarctic Eocene ichthyofauna housed in the Vertebrate Paleontology collection of the Museo de La Plata,Argentina.This collection constitutes one of the largest and taxonomically most diverse in the world,with approximately 20000 specimens,which provides a solid database used for the analysis of qualitative and quantitative chondrichthyan taxonomic composition.The information provided herein might be useful to understand the sudden decline in chondrichthyan taxonomic diversity towards the top of La Meseta Formation as well as its potential relationship with environmental changes during the Eocene.
