Extended criteria brain-dead organ donors:Prevalence and impact on the utilisation of livers for transplantation in Brazil

BACKGROUND The management of cystic dystrophy of the duodenal wall(CDDW),or groove pancreatitis(GP),remains *** pancreatoduodenectomy(PD)is considered the most suitable operation for CDDW,pancreas-preserving duodenal resection(PPDR)has also been suggested as an alternative for the pure form of GP(isolated CDDW).There are no studies comparing PD and PPDR for this *** To compare the safety,efficacy,and short-and long-term results of PD and PPDR in patients with *** A retrospective analysis of the clinical,radiologic,pathologic,and intra-and postoperative data of 84 patients with CDDW(2004-2020)and a comparison of the safety and efficacy of PD and *** Symptoms included abdominal pain(100%),weight loss(76%),vomiting(30%)and jaundice(18%)and data from computed tomography,magnetic resonance imaging,and endoUS led to the correct preoperative diagnosis in 98.8%of *** patients were treated conservatively with pancreaticoenterostomy(n=8),duodenum-preserving pancreatic head resection(n=6),PD(n=44)and PPDR(n=15)without *** gain was significantly higher after PD and PPDR and complete pain control was achieved significantly more often after PPDR(93%)and PD(84%)compared to the other treatment modalities(18%).New onset diabetes mellitus and severe exocrine insufficiency occurred after PD(31%and 14%),but not after *** PPDR has similar safety and better efficacy than PD in patients with CDDW and may be the optimal procedure for the isolated form of *** pure form of GP is a duodenal disease and PD may be an overtreatment for this *** detection of CDDW provides an opportunity for pancreas-preserving surgery.

Association of the level of heteroplasmy of the 15059G>A mutation in the MT-CYB mitochondrial gene with essential hypertension

AIM: To examine whether the heteroplasmy level for 15059G>A mutation in the mitochondrial genome might be associated with essential hypertension. METHODS: This cross-sectional study involved 196 unrelated participants randomly selected from general population (90 males and 106 females) who underwent a regular medical check-up at the Institute for Ath-erosclerosis Research (Moscow, Russia). One hundred and twenty of them (61%) had essential hypertension, and 76 (39%) were apparently healthy normotensive persons. The level of heteroplasmy for 15059G>A mutation occurring in the coding region of cytochrome b gene (MT-CYB) of mtDNA isolated from the blood leukocytes, was quantified using DNA pyrosequencing method. RESULTS: The 15059G>A heteroplasmy level ranged between 4% and 83%, with a median level of 31%. Between the upper and lower quartiles of 15059G>A heteroplasmy distribution, significant differences were observed for patients’ age, systolic blood pressure, and triglyceride levels. 15059G>A heteroplasmy correlated both with age (r = 0.331, P vealed that the age explains 12% variability of 15059G>A heteroplasmy, and hypertension independently explains more 5% variability. The 15059G>A heteroplasmy exceeding 31% was found to be significantly associated with a higher risk of essential hypertension (odds ratio 2.76; P (Fisher) 0.019]. The study participants with high 15059G>A heteroplasmy level were found to have significantly higher age (P valence of essential hypertension (P = 0.033), as compared to those with low 15059G>A heteroplasmy level. These observations suggested a positive correlation between the level of 15059G>A heteroplasmy and essential hypertension. CONCLUSION: This study provides the evidence of association of mtDNA 15059G>A mutation heteroplasmy with essential hypertension.

The coronavirus disease 2019(COvID-19)is known to cause gastrointestinal *** studies have revealed COvID-19-attributed acute pancreatitis(AP).However,clinical characteristics of COvID-19-attributed AP remain *** performed a narrative review to elucidate relation between COvID-19 and AP using the PubMed *** basic and pathological reports revealed expression of angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 and transmembrane protease serine 2,key proteins that aid in the entry of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-Cov-2)into the *** experimental and pathological evaluation suggested that SARS-Cov-2 infects human endocrine and exocrine pancreas cells,and thus,SARS-Cov-2 may have a direct involvement in pancreatic ***,systemic inflammation,especially in children,may cause *** of immune mediators associated with AP,including interleukin(IL)-1β,IL-10,interferon-γ,monocyte chemotactic protein 1,and tumor necrosis factor-αare higher in the plasma of patients with COvID-19,that suggests an indirect involvement of the *** real-world settings,some clinical features of AP complicate COvID-19,such as a high complication rate of pancreatic necrosis,severe AP,and high ***,clinical features of COvID-19-attributed AP remain uncertain due to insufficient research on etiologies of ***,high-quality clinical studies and case reports that specify methods for differential diagnoses of other etiologies of AP are needed.

We present a study of the inclusive photon spectra from 5.9 million J/ψ decays collected with the KEDR detector at the vEPP-4M e＋e collider. We measure the branching fraction of radiative decay J/ψ→ηcγ, ηc width and mass. Our preliminary results are： M（ηc） = 2979.4± 1.5 ± 1.9 Mev/c^2, Г（ηc） = 27.8±5.1 ±3.3 Mev, B（Jψ→ηcγ） = （2.34±0.15±0.40）%.

Magnetic influence: it has been shown that neither alternating magnetic field (MF) (induction 30 mT) nor constant MF (induction 52 mT) applied separately from deep freezing have not induced any changes in further growth of bothStaphylococcus aureus(202) andStaphylococcus aureus(wild) cultures. Combined action:Deep freezing (up to -45℃) achieved within 70 sec compared with the action of constant MF significantly stimulated (P < 0.05) growth ofStaphylococcus aureus(202) andStaphylococcus aureus(202). Combined influence of cryoaction and alternating MF had no substantial effect on growth.

宽带平衡放大器用的混合集成电路(HIC)在超高频范围内已广泛地用于各种收发机上,因为它能使我们在输入和输出端获得低电压驻波比、线性更好的相位-频率特性以及比单级放大器更大的动态范围。在宽带平衡放大器的研制中要解决的主要问题是选择晶体管的输入和输出端的匹配电路,用以提供均匀的振幅-频率性能和在宽带内使源和负载之间匹配。本文中我们讨论采用具有不同Q因子的短线定向耦合器(SDC)作为耦合器的微带平衡超高频放大器混合集成电路(HIC)的研究,并考虑到晶体管的稳定性。

Optical bound states in the continuum(BICs)provide a way to engineer very narrow resonances in photonic *** extended interaction time in these systems is particularly promising for the enhancement of nonlinear optical processes and the development of the next generation of active optical ***,the achievable interaction strength is limited by the purely photonic character of optical ***,we mix the optical BIC in a photonic crystal slab with excitons in the atomically thin semiconductor MoSe_(2) to form nonlinear exciton-polaritons with a Rabi splitting of 27 mev,exhibiting large interaction-induced spectral *** asymptotic BIC-like suppression of polariton radiation into the far field toward the BIC wavevector,in combination with effective reduction of the excitonic disorder through motional narrowing,results in small polariton linewidths below 3 *** with a strongly wavevector-dependent Q-factor,this provides for the enhancement and control of polariton–polariton interactions and the resulting nonlinear optical effects,paving the way toward tuneable BIC-based polaritonic devices for sensing,lasing,and nonlinear optics.
