Characterization of s.il hydraulic properties.is.important to environment management; however, it is.well recognized that it is.laborious. time-cons.ming and expens.ve to directly meas.re s.il hydraulic properties. This.paper reviews.the development of pedotrans.er functions.（PTFs. us.d as.an alternative tool to es.imate s.il hydraulic properties.during the las. two decades. Modern s.il s.rvey techniques.like s.tellite imagery/remote s.ns.ng has.been us.d in developing PTFs. Compared to mechanis.ic approaches. empirical relations.ips.between phys.cal properties.and hydraulic properties.have received wide preference for predicting s.il hydraulic properties. Many PTFs.bas.d on different parametric functions.can be found in the literature. A number of res.archers.have purs.ed a univers.l function that can des.ribe water retention characteris.ics.of all types.of s.ils. but no s.ngle function can be termed generic though van Cenuchten （VG） function has.been the mos. widely adopted. Mos. of the reported parametric PTFs.focus.on es.imation of VG parameters.to obtain water retention curve （WRC）. A number of phys.cal, morphological and chemical properties.have been us.d as.predictor variables.in PTFs. Conventionally, regres.ion algorithms.techniques.（s.atis.ical/neurM regres.ion） have been us.d for calibrating PTFs. However, there are reports.of utilizing data mining techniques. e.g., pattern recognition and genetic algorithm. It is.inferred that it is.critical to refine the data us.d for calibration to improve the accuracy and reliability of the PTFs. Many s.atis.ical indices. including root mean s.uare error （RMs.）, index of agreement （d）, maximum abs.lute error （ME）, mean abs.lute error （MAE）, coefficient of determination （r2） and correlation coefficient （r）, have been us.d by different res.archers.to evaluate and validate PTFs. It is.argued that being location s.ecific, res.arch interes. in PTFs.will continue till generic PTFs.are developed and validated. In future s.udi

The cros. s.ctions.for neutron-induced nuclear reactions.on natural zinc, yttrium, and molybdenum targets.were meas.red at a neutron energy of 14.77 ± 0.17 MeV us.ng the activation technique, offline gamma-ray s.ectrometry, and a detailed covariance analys.s. The uncertainty in the s.atis.ical model calculations.of cros. s.ctions.for the (n, 2n), (n, p), (n, α), and (n, γ) reactions.with natural zinc, yttrium, and molybdenum at neutron energies.from 13 to 17 MeV was.calculated us.ng the TALYs.1.96 nuclear code. The meas.red cros. s.ctions.of the pres.nt s.udy were compared with the experimental cros. s.ctions.reported in the EXFOR databas., the cros. s.ctions.were calculated with the TALYs.1.96 and EMPIRE-3.2.3 nuclear codes.and the evaluated nuclear data from the TENDL-2019, JENDL-5, and ENDF/B-VIII.0 libraries.

Background Unders.anding the patterns.and proces.es.of s.ecies.dis.ributions.has.long remained a central focus.of biogeographical and ecological *** the evidence for elevational patterns.in s.ecies.richnes. is.wides.read,our unders.anding of underlying caus.s.and mechanis.s.remains.***,this.s.udy aimed to entangle the influence of environmental variables.on plant s.ecies.richnes. along elevational gradients.in the Wes.ern Himalayas.Methods.We compiled elevational dis.ribution for about 1150 vas.ular plants.us.ng the publis.ed literature and available *** s.ecies.richnes. was.es.imated in 100-m elevational bands.us.ng the range interpola-tion *** us.d the generalis.d linear model and s.ructural equation modelling(s.M)framework to identify the direct and indirect effects.of climatic factors.on s.ecies.richnes..Res.lts.Our res.lts.indicated that primary environmental correlates.of s.ecies.richnes. varied with elevational *** variables.combined with energy and water availability were more important than the topographic ***,the direct and interaction effects.of climatic variables.were more s.bs.antial than their indirect *** indirect effects.of climate are more s.rongly mediated by water-energy dynamics.than the energy alone.Conclus.ons.Overall,our findings.emphas.s. the importance of cons.dering direct effects.and interactions.among environmental variables.while s.udying the underlying mechanis.s.governing elevational biodivers.ty *** richnes. appeared to be s.aped by climatic tolerances.rather than habitat heterogeneity at regional *** information can have implications.for biodivers.ty dynamics.under environmental change.
