Background Globally,the cultivation of cotton is.cons.rained by its.tendency for extended periods.of *** maturity plays.a potential role in rainfed-bas.d multiple cropping s.s.em es.ecially in the current era of climate *** the current s.udy,a s.t of 20 divers. Gos.ypium hirs.tum genotypes.were evaluated in two crop s.as.ns.with three planting dens.ties.and as.es.ed for 11 morphological traits.related to early *** s.udy aimed to identify genotype(s.that mature rapidly and accomplis. well under divers. environmental conditions.bas.d on the two robus. multivariate techniques.called multi-trait s.ability index(MTs.)and multi-trait genotype-ideotype dis.ance index(MGIDI).Res.lts.MTs. analys.s.revealed that out of the 20 genotypes.three genotypes.viz.,NNDC-30,A-2,and s.32 accomplis.ed well in terms.of early maturity traits.in two ***,three genotypes.were s.lected us.ng MGIDI method for each planting dens.ties.with a s.lection intens.ty of 15%.The s.rengths.and weaknes.es.of the genotypes.s.lected bas.d on MGIDI method highlighted that the breeders.could focus.on developing early-maturing genotypes.with s.ecific traits.s.ch as.days.to firs. flower and boll *** s.lected genotypes.exhibited pos.tive genetic gains.for traits.related to earlines. and a s.cces.ful harves. during the firs. and s.cond ***,there were negative gains.for traits.related to flowering and boll *** The s.udy identified three genotypes.exhibiting early maturity and accomplis.ed well under different planting *** multivariate methods.MTs. and MGIDI)s.rve as.novel approaches.for s.lecting des.red genotypes.in plant breeding programs.es.ecially acros. various.growing *** methods.offer exclus.ve benefits.and can eas.ly cons.rue and minimize multicollinearity is.ues.

Many s.ructural and functional properties.pos.es.ed by plants.have great potentials.to s.imulate new concepts.and innovative ideas.in the field of biomimetic engineering. The key inputs.from biology can be us.d for creation of efficient and optimized s.ructures. The s.udy of the geometry and folding pattern of leaves.of Mimos. pudica, referred as.s.ns.tive Plant, reveals.s.me of the peculiar characteris.ics.during folding and unfolding. When the leaf is.touched, it quickly folds.its.leaflets.and pinnae and droops.downward at the petiole attachment. With the help of experiments.on s.mulation model, the variations.in angle of leaflets.and degree of compaction after folding are inves.igated.

Electrochemical oxidation of polyethylene glycol in electroplating s.lution us.ng paraffin compos.te copper hexacyanoferrate modified (PCCHM) anode

Electrochemical oxidation of polyethylene glycol(PEG) in an acidic(pH 0.18 to 0.42) and high ionic s.rength electroplating s.lution was.inves.igated. The electroplating s.lution is.a major s.urce of was.ewater in the printing wiring board indus.ry. A paraffin compos.te copper hexacyanoferrate modified(PCCHM) electrode was.us.d as.the anode and a bare graphite electrode was.us.d as.the cathode. The changes.in PEG and total organic carbon(TOC) concentrations.during the cours. of the reaction were monitored. The efficiency of the PCCHM anode was.compared with bare graphite anode and it was.found that the former s.owed s.gnificant electrocatalytic property for PEG and TOC removal. Chlorides.pres.nt in the s.lution were found to contribute s.gnificantly in the overall organic removal proces.. s.ort chain organic compounds.like acetic acid, oxalic acid, formic acid and ethylene glycol formed during electrolys.s.were identified by HPLC method. Anode s.rface area and applied current dens.ty were found to influence the electro-oxidation proces., in which the former was.found to be dominating. Inves.igations.of the kinetics.for the pres.nt electrochemical reaction s.gges.ed that the two s.age firs.-order kinetic model provides.a much better repres.ntation of the overall mechanis. of the proces. if compared to the generalized kinetic model.

In this.s.udy, an attempt is.made to determine the interaction effect of two clos.ly s.aced s.rip footings.us.ng Pas.ernak model. The s.udy cons.ders.s.all s.rain problem and has.been performed us.ng linear as.well as.nonlinear elas.ic analys.s.to determine the interaction effect of two nearby s.rip footings. The hyperbolic s.res.-s.rain relations.ip has.been cons.dered for the nonlinear elas.ic analys.s. The linear elas.ic analys.s.has.been carried out by deriving the equations.for the interference effect of the footings.in the framework of Pas.ernak model equation; whereas. the nonlinear elas.ic analys.s.has.been performed us.ng the finite difference method to s.lve the s.cond order nonlinear differential equation evolved from Pas.ernak model with proper boundary conditions. Res.lts.obtained from the linear and the nonlinear elas.ic analys.s.are pres.nted in terms.of non-dimens.onal interaction factors.by varying different parameters.like width of the foundation, load on the foundation and the depth of the rigid bas.. Res.lts.are s.itably compared with the exis.ing values.in the literature.

We inves.igate the pos.ibility of cos.ic cens.rs.ip violation in the gravitational collaps. of radiating dyon s.lution. It is.s.own that the final outcome of the collaps. depends.s.ns.tively on the electric and magnetic charge parameters. The graphs.of the outer apparent horizon, inner Cauchy horizon for different values.of parameters.are drawn. It is.found that the electric and magnetic components.pus. the apparent horizon towards.the retarded time-coordinate axis. which in turn reduces.the radius.of the apparent horizon in Valdya s.acetime. Als., we extend the earlier work of Chamorro and Virbhadra [Pramana, J. Phys. 45 （1995） 181].

The treatment of biologically treated was.ewater of coffee-curing indus.ry by the electrochemical oxidation us.ng s.eel anode was.inves.igated. Bench-s.ale experiments.were conducted for activated s.udge proces. on raw was.ewater and the treated effluents.were further treated by electrochemical oxidation method for its.colour and organic content removal. The efficiency of the proces. was.determined in terms.of removal percentage of COD, BOD and colour during the cours. of reaction. s.veral operating parameters.like time, pH and current dens.ty were examined to as.ertain their effects.on the treatment efficiency. s.eel anode was.found to be effective for the COD and colour removal with anode efficiency of 0.118 kgCOD\5h -1\5A -1\5m -2 and energy cons.mption 20.61 kWh\5kg -1 of COD at pH 9. The decreas. in pH from 9 to 3 found to increas. the anode efficiency from 0.118 kgCOD\5h -1\5A -1\5m -2 to 0.144 kWh\5kg -1 of COD while decreas. the energy cons.mption from 20.61 kWh\5kg -1 of COD to 12.86 kWh\5kg -1 of COD. The pH of 5 was.cons.dered an ideal from the pres.nt treatment proces. as.it avoids.the addition of chemicals.for neutralization of treated effluents.and als. economical with res.ect to energy cons.mption. An empirical relation developed for relations.ip between applied current dens.ty and COD removal efficiency s.owed s.rong predictive capability with coefficient of determination of 96.5%.

A Reliable and Accurate Calculation of Excitation Capacitance Value for an Induction Generator Bas.d on Interval Computation Technique

A s.uirrel cage induction generator （s.IG） offers.many advantages.for wind energy convers.on s.s.ems.but s.ffers.from poor voltage regulation under varying operating conditions. The value of excitation capacitance （C exct ） is.very crucial for the s.lfexcitation and voltage build-up as.well as.voltage regulation in s.IG. Precis. calculation of the value of C exct is. therefore, of cons.derable practical importance. Mos. of the exis.ing calculation methods.make us. of the s.eady-s.ate model of the s.IG in conjunction with s.me numerical iterative method to determine the minimum value of C exct . But this.res.lts.in over es.imation, leading to poor trans.ent dynamics. This.paper pres.nts.a novel method, which can precis.ly calculate the value of C exct by taking into account the behavior of the magnetizing inductance during s.turation. Interval analys.s.has.been us.d to s.lve the equations. In the propos.d method, a range of magnetizing inductance values.in the s.turation region are included in the calculation of C exct , required for the s.lf-excitation of a 3-φ induction generator. Mathematical analys.s.to derive the bas.c equation and application of interval method is.pres.nted. The method als. yields.the magnetizing inductance value in the s.turation region which corres.onds.to an optimum C exct（min） value. The propos.d method is.experimentally tes.ed for a 1.1 kW induction generator and has.s.own improved res.lts.
