precise fluorescence imaging of single l-DNA molecules for base pair distance analysis requires a superresolution technique, as these distances are on the order of diffraction limit. Individual l-DNA molecules intercalated with the fluorescent dye YOYO-1 were investigated at subdiffraction spatial resolution by direct stochastic optical reconstruction microscopy（d STORM）. Various dye-to-DNA base pair ratios were imaged by photoswitching YOYO-1 between the fluorescent state and the dark state using two laser sources. The acquired images were reconstructed into a super-resolution image by applying Gaussian fitting to the centroid of the point spread function. By measuring the distances between localized fluorophores, the base pair distances in single DNA molecules for dye-to-DNA base pair ratios of 1：50,1：100, and 1：500 were calculated to be 17.1 0.8 nm, 34.3 2.2 nm, and 170.3 8.1 nm[17_TD$IF], respectively,which were in agreement with theoretical values. These results demonstrate that intercalating dye in a single DNA molecule can be photoswitched without the use of an activator fluorophore, and that super-localization precision at a spatial resolution of 17 nm was experimentally achieved.

The experimental investigations on the effect of the fly ash particle size, velocity, impingement angle, and feed rate were done with an emphasis on the effect of erosion on annealed SA 210 GrA1 （A） and normalized SA 210 GrA1 （N） carbon steel economizer-tube materials. Erosion rates were evaluated with different impingement angles ranging from 15° to 90°, at four different velocities of 32.5, 35, 37.5, and 40 m/s, and at four different feed rates of fly ash particles of 2, 4, 6 and 8 g/min. The erodent used was fly ash particles, sizes ranging from 50-250 μm of irregular shapes. Erosion rate is found to be the maximum at the impingement angle of 30°. Erosion rates of the carbon steel tube in different heat treatment conditions, annealed and normalized, at a constant velocity of 32.5 m/s with different angles were studied. In all cases of feed rates, impingement angles, particle sizes, and velocities of fly ash particles, it has been found that the erosion rate of the annealed tube is less than that of the normalized tube. Empirical correlations for erosion rate relating the velocity, size, feed rate, and impingement angle of the particles and elongation property of the target materials were arrived. Morphologies of the eroded surface were examined by scanning electron microscope （SEM）.

The obesity pandemic is widely regarded as major health challenge for modern society. This multi-organ disorder is linked to the development of a number of prevalent diseases, such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular and liver diseases, including primary liver cancer (1). The hepatic manifestations of obesity are collectively called non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) (2). The increased prevalence of NAFLD parallels the global obesity pandemic and is predicted to be the largest cause of liver transplantations (1). The term NAFLD encompasses different disease states, ranging from simple steatosis (NAFL) to more severe forms of liver disease such as non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), with various degree of fibrosis (3). NASH may progress to cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) (4). Although NASH arising from fatty liver disease seems to be an underlying lesion for some HCC cases, the extent to which the presence or the severity of NASH explains obesity-related HCC remains unclear (5). Moreover, HCC is increasingly diagnosed among obese individuals independent of NASH and cirrhosis (6), suggesting that cirrhosis is not necessary for the development of HCC in obesity. However, the precise mechanisms that give rise to HCC in some NASH patients and not in others remain largely unknown.

A stability-indicating reverse phase–high performance liquid chromatography（Rp–HpLC） method was developed and validated for the determination of atazanavir sulfate in tablet dosage forms using C_（18） column phenomenix（250 mm×4.6 mm, 5 μm） with a mobile phase consisting of 900 mL of HpLC grade methanol and100 mL of water of HpLC grade. The pH was adjusted to 3.55 with acetic acid. The mobile phase was sonicated for 10 min and filtered through a 0.45 μm membrane filter at a flow rate of 0.5 mL/min. The detection was carried out at 249 nm and retention time of atazanavir sulfate was found to be 8.323 min. Linearity was observed from 10 to 90 μg/mL（coefficient of determination R^2 was 0.999） with equation, y=23.427x＋*** sulfate was subjected to stress conditions including acidic, alkaline, oxidation, photolysis and thermal degradation, and the results showed that it was more sensitive towards acidic degradation. The method was validated as per ICH guidelines.

In the present research, a series of 5,6-bis aryl 1,2,4-triazines 5a^5f were synthesized by condensation of various benzils 4a^4f with aminoguanidine bicarbonate and were screened in vivo, for their anticonvulsant and neurotoxicity studies. Compounds 5a, 5b and 5d were found to be potent molecules of this series, when compared with the reference drugs phenytoin sodium, diazepam and lamotrigine. The structures of these compounds were established by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and mass spectroscopic data.

Multifunctional iodoaryl monomers were used for the catalyst- and solvent-free generation of microporous polymer networks of high surface areas up to 732mEg-1. The thermal conversion of the monomers relies on the homolytic cleavage of weak iodine-carbon bonds followed by a C-C coupling of the radicalic intermediates. By using tri- or tetrafunctional monomers and by tuning reaction temperature and time, the optimum reaction conditions allow the formation of the corresponding microporous networks in good yields of 71%-86%. The resulting networks exhibit notable high CO2 and H2 adsorption capacities of up to 8.89 wt% （273K, 1 bar） and up to 1.31 wt% （77K, 1 bar）, respectively.

AIM:To evaluate if human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) population is getting adequate screening for colon cancer in the highly active anti-retroviral treatment (HAART) era with improved longevity, and the prevalence of polyps and adenomas in this population, when compared with the general population. METHODS:We conducted retrospective chart review of average-risk HIV population for colon cancer attending our infectious disease clinic. Individuals who underwent diagnostic colonoscopy were excluded. We extracted various demographic, HIV disease-specific and colonoscopy data including histo-pathological reports in the last 10 years. Total population was divided into a study group, who underwent screening colonoscopy and a control group who did not. We analyzed data using standard statistical methods and software. RESULTS:We found that 25% of average-risk HIVinfected population was screened for colon cancer using colonoscopy. There was no difference in gender and ethnic distribution between the groups. We foundwider distribution of age (50-84 years with mean 56 years) in the control group when compared to (50-73 years with mean 58 years) the study group. However, there were 89% of subjects with well-controlled HIV disease measured by HIV RNA copies of p when compared with 70% in the control group (p polyp detection rate of 55% and adenoma detection rate of 32% in HIV population. CONCLUSION:It is unclear whether HIV or HAART medications play a role in increased prevalence of adenomas. We suggest that when estimating the risk for colonic neoplasms, HIV population should be considered as a high-risk group and screened accordingly.
