The synthesis of a new series of 3-（5-substituted benzimidazol-2-yl）-5-arylisoxazolines （6a-h） was achieved in excellent yields by the condensation of 1-（1H-benzimidazol-2-yl）-3-（substituted phenyl）prop-2-en-l-ones （5a-h） with hydroxylamine at room temperature. These 1-（1H-benzimidazol-2-yl）-3-（subsfituted phenyl）prop-2-en-l-ones （Sa-h） were obtained by the condensation of 2-acetyl benzimidazoles （4a-d） with different aromatic aldehydes, which in turn were obtained by the oxidation of 2-（α- hydroxy）ethyl benzimidazoles （3a-d） prepared by the reaction of o-phenylenediamines （lad） with ot-hydroxy propiohic acid 2. The synthesized compounds were characterized by their Ir, ^1H NMr and MS analyses. These compounds were screened for their antibacterial and antifungal activity by standard methods and found some of them active.

The Strecker reaction was performed via a one-pot three component condensation of hetero aromatic/ aromatic aldehydes, secondary amines and trimetylsilyl cyanide in the presence of propylphosphonic anhydride （T3p） to accomplish the corresponding α-aminonitriles. The main advantages of this method are very short reaction time and excellent yields.

A series of camphor-derived thiourea organocatalysts 3a–f were designed and synthesized from（1r,3S）-camphoric acid 1 and applied to the one-pot three-component Kabachnik–Fields reaction. Catalyst 3c was found to be an efficient organocatalyst for the reaction of 2-cyclopropylpyrimidin-4-carbaldehyde 4,various amines 5, and diphenylphosphite 6 to yield the corresponding enantioselective a-aminophosphonates 7a–e in 74%–82% yields and 14%–35% ee.

AIM:To assess the awareness of eye complications and the prevalence of retinopathy,in the first visit to eye clinic,among type 2 diabetic patients attending a tertiary medical centre in Kuala Lumpur,***:An investigator-administered questionnaire was given to 137 patients with diabetes undergoing first time eye screening in the eye *** was followed by a detailed fundus examination by a senior ophthalmologist to assess for presence of ***:Almost 86% of respondents were aware of diabetic eye complications,especially in patients who had achieved tertiary educational level(96.3%).The majority of the patients(78.8%) were referred by their physicians and only 20.4% came on their own *** of the patients(43.8%) did not know how frequent they should go for an eye check-up and 72.3% did not know what treatments were *** of understanding on diabetic eye diseases(68.6%) was the main barrier for most patients for not coming for eye screening *** a high level of awareness,only 21.9% had recorded HbA1c level of re under the erroneous assumption of having a good blood sugar control.A total of 29.2% had diabetic retinopathy in their first visit eye ***:In the present study,29.2% of type 2 diabetic patients had retinopathy in their first time eye *** the awareness of diabetic eye complications was high among first time eye screening patients,the appropriate eye care-seeking behavior was comparatively less and should be rectified to prevent the rise of this sight threatening eye disease.

To identify and establish beneficiation techniques for banded hematite quartzite （BHQ） iron ore, a comprehensive research on BHQ ore treatment was carried out. The BHQ ore was assayed as 38.9wt% Fe, 42.5wt% SiO2, and 1.0wt% Al2O3. In this ore, hematite and quartz are present as the major mineral phases where goethite, martite, and magnetite are present in small amounts. The liberation of hematite particles can be enhanced to about 82% by reducing the particle size to below 63 μm. The rejection of silica particles can be obtained by magnetic and flotation separation techniques. Overall, the BHQ ore can be enriched to 65.3wt% Fe at 61.9% iron recovery. A flowsheet has been suggested for the commercial exploitation of the BHQ ore.

With increasing incidence of diabetes, use of diabetes specific nutrition supplements (DSNS) is common for better management of the disease. To study effect of 12-week DSNS supplementation on glycemic markers, anthropometry, lipid profile, SCFAs, and gut microbiome in individuals with diabetes. Markers studied were glycemic [Fasting Blood Glucose (FBG), post prandial Glucose (ppG), HbA1c, Incremental Area under curve (iAUC), Mean Amplitude of Glycemic Excursions (MAGE), Time in/above range (TIr/TAr)], anthropometry [weight, Body Mass Index (BMI), waist circumference (WC)], lipid profile, diet and gut health [plasma short chain fatty acids (SCFAs)]. N = 210 adults were randomized to receive either DSNS with standard care (DSNS + SC;n = 105) or standard care alone (SC alone;n = 105). After 12 weeks, significant differences between DSNS + SC versus SC alone was observed in FBG [−3 ± 6 vs 14 ± 6 mg/dl;p = 0.03], ppG [−35 ± 9 vs −3 ± 9 mg/dl;p = 0.01], weight [−0.6 ± 0.1 vs 0.2 ± 0.1 kg;p = 0.0001], BMI [−0.3 ± 0.1 vs 0.1 ± 0.1 kg/m2;p = 0.0001] and WC [−0.3 ± 0.2 vs 0.2 ± 0.2 cm;p = 0.01]. HbA1C and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) were significantly reduced in DSNS + SC [−0.2 ± 0.9;p = 0.04 and −5 mg/dl;p = 0.03] respectively with no change in control. Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) reported significant differences between DSNS + SC versus SC alone for mean glucose [−12 ± 65 vs 28 ± 93 mg/dl;p r 180 [−9 ± 42 vs 7 ± 45 mg/dl;p = 0.04], TAr 250 [−3 ± 27 vs 9 ± 38 mg/dl;p = 0.05], iAUC [−192 (1.1) vs −48 (1.1) mg/dl;p = 0.03]. MAGE was significantly reduced for both DSNS + SC (−19 ± 67;p p = 0.04), with reduction being more pronounced for DSNS + SC. Objective:To evaluate the analgesic activity of the ethyl acetate,methanol and aqueous extracts of plewotus eous(***) ***:The dried fruiting bodies were extracted with ethyl acetate,methanol and *** analgesic effect of extracts of *** were investigated at doses 250 500 and 1 000 mg/kg body weight,using acetic-acid induced writhing,hot-plate,tail immersion and tail-clip ***:*** extracts produced significant reduction in number of writhes induced by intraperitoneal injection of acetic-acid(preover,in hot-plate and tail immersion test,all the three extracts significantly raised the pain threshold at different time of observation(0-60 min) in comparison with control(pp test the extracts also caused a significant inhibition of pain at both the doses used(presults of present study suggest that extracts of *** possess potent analgesic property and could serve as a base for future drugs.
