Microbially induced carbonate precipitation(MICp)is a promising technique for the autonomous healing of concrete *** this study,the effect of pH on MICp was *** results indicate that the MICp process was inhibited when the pH was higher than *** vaterite and calcite were produced when the pH wasproduced when the pH was>*** concrete aggregates(RCA)coated with sodium silicate have been proposed as protective carriers for microbial healing *** the presence of the coated RCA resulted in a loss of the splitting tension strength of the concrete,the loaded healing agents were highly efficient in self-healing *** incorporated with 20%RCA loaded with healing agents exhibited the best self-healing *** the initial crack widths were between 0.3 and 0.4 mm,the 7-d mean healing rate was approximately 90%.At 28 d,the crack area filling ratio was 86.4%,while its water tightness recovery ratio was 74.4%and 29.8%,respectively,for rapid and slow *** study suggests that RCA coated with sodium silicate is an effective method for packaging microbial healing agents and has great potential for developing cost-effective self-healing concrete.

dear Editor,This letter is concerned with prescribed-time Nash equilibrium(pTNE)seeking problem in a pursuit-evasion game(pEG)involving agents with second-order *** order to achieve the prior-given and user-defined convergence time for the pEG,a pTNE seeking algorithm has been developed to facilitate collaboration among multiple pursuers for capturing the evader without the need for any global ***,it is theoretically proved that the prescribedtime convergence of the designed algorithm for achieving Nash equilibrium of ***,the effectiveness of the pTNE method was validated by numerical simulation results.A pEG consists of two groups of agents:evaders and *** pursuers aim to capture the evaders through cooperative efforts,while the evaders strive to evade *** is a classic noncooperative *** has attracted plenty of attention due to its wide application scenarios,such as smart grids[1],formation control[2],[3],and spacecraft rendezvous[4].It is noteworthy that most previous research on seeking the Nash equilibrium of the game,where no agent has an incentive to change its actions,has focused on asymptotic and exponential convergence[5]-[7].

Connecting cellular mechanisms and extracellular vesicle cargo in traumatic brain injury

Traumatic brain injury is followed by a cascade of dynamic and complex events occurring at the cellular level. These events include: diffuse axonal injury, neuronal cell death, blood-brain barrier break down, glial activation and neuroinflammation, edema, ischemia, vascular injury, energy failure, and peripheral immune cell infiltration. The timing of these events post injury has been linked to injury severity and functional outcome. Extracellular vesicles are membrane bound secretory vesicles that contain markers and cargo pertaining to their cell of origin and can cross the blood-brain barrier. These qualities make extracellular vesicles intriguing candidates for a liquid biopsy into the pathophysiologic changes occurring at the cellular level post traumatic brain injury. Herein, we review the most commonly reported cargo changes in extracellular vesicles from clinical traumatic brain injury samples. We then use knowledge from animal and in vitro models to help infer what these changes may indicate regrading cellular responses post traumatic brain injury. Future research should prioritize labeling extracellular vesicles with markers for distinct cell types across a range of timepoints post traumatic brain injury.

A resilience-incorporated risk assessment framework is proposed and demonstrated in this study to manifest the advantageous seismic resilience of precast concrete frame(pCF)structures with“dry”connections in terms of their low damage and rapid *** framework integrates various uncertainties in the seismic hazard,fragility,capacity,demand,loss functions,and post-earthquake *** this study,the pCF structures are distinguished from ordinary reinforced concrete frame(RCF)structures by characterizing multiple limit states for the pCF based on its unique damage ***,probabilistic story-wise pushover analyses are performed to yield story-wise capacities for the predefined limit *** the seismic resilience analysis,a step-wise recovery model is proposed to idealize the functionality recovery process,with separate considerations of the repair and non-repair *** recovery model leverages the economic loss and downtime to delineate the stochastic post-earthquake recovery curves for the resilience loss *** such,contingencies in the probabilistic post-earthquake repairs are incorporated and the empirical judgments on the recovery parameters are largely *** proposed framework is demonstrated through a comparative study between two“dry”connected pCFs and one RCF designed as alternative structural systems for a prototype *** results from the risk quantification indicate that the pCFs show reduced loss hazards and lower expected losses relative to the ***,the pCF equipped with energy dissipation devices at the“dry”connections largely reduces the expected economic loss,downtime,and resilience loss by 29%,56%,and 60%,respectively,compared to the RCF.

Neddylation is necessary for activation of Cullin-RING ligases(CRLs),which degrade various immune regulatory *** recent study showed that while depletion of neddylation E2-E3 pair Ube2f-Sag in regulatory T(T_(reg))cells had no obvious phenotype,the same depletion of either Ube2m or Rbx1 caused inflammation disorders with different *** these E2s or E3s compensate each other in functional regulations of T_(reg)cells is,however,previously *** this report,we generated Foxp3^(Cre);Ube2m^(fl/fl);Ube2f^(fl/fl)or Foxp3^(Cre);Rbx1^(fl/fl);Sag^(fl/fl)double-null mice by simultaneous deletion of both neddylation E2s or E3s in T_(reg)cells,***,Ube2m&Ube2f double-null mice developed much severe autoimmune phenotypes than did Ube2m-null mice,indicating that Ube2m markedly compensates Ube2f in T_(reg)*** minor worsened autoimmune phenotypes seen at the very early stage in Rbx1&Sag double-null than Rbx1-null mice is likely due to already severe phenotypes of the later,indicating a minor compensation of Rbx1 for *** RNA profiling-based analyses revealed that up-and down-regulations of few signaling pathways in T_(reg)cells are associated with the severity of autoimmune ***,severer inflammation phenotypes seen in mice with double E3-null than with double E2-null T_(reg)cells indicate a neddylation-independent mechanism of 2 E3s,also known to serve as the RING component of CRLs in regulation of T_(reg)cell fitness.

Biocatalysis in organic solvents(OSs)has numerous important applications,but native enzymes in OSs often exhibit limited catalytic ***,we proposed a computation-aided surface charge engineering strategy to improve the catalytic performance of haloalkane dehalogenase dhaA in OSs based on the energetic analysis of substrate binding to the dhaA *** variants with enhanced OS resistance were obtained by replacing negative charged residues on the surface with positive charged residue(Arg).particularly,a four-substitution variant E16R/E93R/E121R/E257R exhibited the best catalytic performance(five-fold improvement in OS resistance and seven-fold half-life increase in 40%(vol)dimethylsulfoxide).As a result,the overall catalytic performance of the variant could be at least 26 times higher than the wild-type *** spectroscopy and molecular dynamics simulation studies revealed that the residue substitution mainly enhanced OS resistance from four aspects:(a)improved the overall structural stability,(b)increased the hydrophobicity of the local microenvironment around the catalytic triad,(c)enriched the hydrophobic substrate around the enzyme molecule,and(d)lowered the contact frequency between OS molecules and the catalytic *** findings validate that computationaided surface charge engineering is an effective and ingenious rational strategy for tailoring enzyme performance in OSs.

Towards adaptive graph neural networks via solving prior-data conflicts

Graph neural networks(GNNs)have achieved remarkable performance in a variety of graph-related *** evidence in the GNN community shows that such good performance can be attributed to the homophily prior;i.e.,connected nodes tend to have similar features and ***,in heterophilic settings where the features of connected nodes may vary significantly,GNN models exhibit notable performance *** this work,we formulate this problem as prior-data confict and propose a model called the mixture-prior graph neural network(MpGNN).First,to address the mismatch of homophily prior on heterophilic graphs,we introduce the non-informative prior,which makes no assumptions about the relationship between connected nodes and learns such relationship from the ***,to avoid performance degradation on homophilic graphs,we implement a soft switch to balance the effects of homophily prior and non-informative prior by learnable *** evaluate the performance of MpGNN on both synthetic and real-world *** show that MpGNN can effectively capture the relationship between connected nodes,while the soft switch helps select a suitable prior according to the graph *** these two designs,MpGNN outperforms state-of-the-art methods on heterophilic graphs without sacrificing performance on homophilic graphs.

Anti-spoofing is becoming a crucial technique for applications with high navigation accuracy and reliability ***-spoofing technique based on Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring(RAIM)is a good choice for most Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)receivers because it does not require any change to the hardware of the ***,the conventional RAIM method can only detect and mitigate a single spoofing *** improved RAIM methods can deal with more spoofing signals,but the computational complexity increases dramatically when the number of satellites in view increase or need additional *** paper proposes a new RAIM method,called the SRV-RAIM method,which has a very low computation complexity regardless of the number of satellites in view and can deal with any number of spoofing *** key to the new method is the spatial distribution characteristic of the Satellites'Residual Vectors(SRV).In replay or generative spoofing scenarios,the pseudorange measurements of spoofing signals are consistent,the residual vectors of real satellites and those of spoofing satellites have good separation characteristics in spatial *** on this characteristic,the SRV-RAIM method is proposed,and the simulation results show that the method can separate the real signals and the spoofing signals with an average probability of 86.55%in the case of 12 visible satellites,regardless of the number of spoofing *** to the conventional traversal-RAIM method,the performance is only reduced by 3.59%,but the computational cost is reduced by 98.3%,so most of the GNSS receivers can run the SRV-RAIM algorithm in time.
